It's interesting to me that Castlerock probably shares the same kitchen, management and ownership as Rumble's Kitchen, barely 10 feet away. But the experience is just so much less... efficient. We came on a day when the mountain was not crowded (a weekday post Christmas and New Year) and were hoping to do a quick in and out to get back to the beautiful, sunny day and good ski conditions. Castlerock had another plan. I think the staff -- all very friendly young people from Latin and South American countries per their nametags -- were probably spread thin, but it took a very, very long time for anyone to come by and take our order (around 30 minutes) and then a long time (another 40+ minutes) for food to come. We enjoyed it when it did come -- but of course we'd had quite some time to whet our appetites! C-Rock Grain Bowl (mixed greens, warm quinoa, sweet corn, roasted butternut squash, pickled red onion, peppadew peppers, crumbled feta, toasted sunflower seeds, pesto vinaigrette; $16.50) was a well conceived and substantial salad, but not entirely well executed. I would've enjoyed the bowl just as well without the from-frozen, rubbery corn, with half the amount of dressing -- and if one wishes to nitpick, quinoa that was warm as advertised, rather than stone cold. The chili ($12.50) was Sugarbush ski mountain standard, the same stuff that's served in the cafeteria, at Rumble, at Mt. Ellen, etc... Our littles enjoyed it as always. The CRP Smash Burger (6 oz angus patty smashed on the griddle, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion on a toasted potato roll; $21) was similarly standard issue resort-wide -- and also something you could probably pick up at any pub in any city or town in the US. It's predictable. The primary consumer always knows what he's getting and enjoys it. Turkey club sandwiches (roasted turkey breast, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, black garlic aioli, toasted sourdough bread; $18.50) were quite well stuffed with deli meat and served with the same deliciously low-brow, seasoned fries that are served everywhere on the resort. The primary consumers enjoyed them. Castlerock Pierogies (Polish potato and cheddar dumplings, caramelized onions, chives, sour cream; $16) are a new addition as of the 2023-24 winter season. They came well pan fried, filled with potato and cheese, topped with browned (not caramelized) onions if one is to nitpick, no chives, and loads of sour cream. I am not a knowledgeable consumer -- we generally get them from street carts in NYC, not from homemade sources -- but we enjoyed this offering. Food and the standard roster of VT beers: fair to enjoyable. Resort pricing and slow service: not completely intolerable. read more

The food was great, we had come for dinner after a day on the mountain skiiing. Castlerock was simple enough as we were all too tired to venture further. We ordered wings as an appetizer and our entire group got an array of different sandwiches and entrees. Food came out hot and delicious. However the appetizer came out with the food instead of earlier. When asking for cutlery and more beverages it seemed as if we were forgotten about once our food came out. Our server had completely disappeared for about 30 minutes. The pub wasn't busy but we had noticed from nearby tables once your food and drinks came out service was nonexistent. We managed to eat our food without utensils. The food was great but there are definitely better options in Warren. Even once getting our bill it took an additional 20 minutes to get our bill paid. The inside of the pub was nothing too special, it was pretty cold for only 530pm inside. I am giving 2 stars for the food but the service was absolutely terrible. read more

Stopped in after the fireworks show on the slopes on January 19, 2025. The Castle Rock Pub has an excellent beer menu, plenty of choices. The food menu was limited but I'm guessing it was due to the special event. I had the chicken sandwich, it was excellent. My server was great. She handled the post fireworks crowd well and still provided excellent service. The live band and Ravens vs Bills playoff game enhanced the pub experience! read more

Good food and drinks and a fun atmosphere. I really like that they now have a hostess to seat you and you no longer need to hover over tables to get a seat. The only drawback is that their is no view since this place is in the basement. read more

Good place to stop if you're looking for some lunch after your morning ski! This place has a wide variety of bar food along with a plentiful beer selection. My fiance and I stopped here on both days of our skiing adventure and had plenty to choose from. What stood out to us though were the spiced apple cider wings. These sounds like a weird combination but honestly, they were absolutely delicious. Throw your idea of apple cider being a sweet drink out the door and eat these wings for something unique! While the prices might be high, just remember that you're at a ski resort so the options are limited. But the portions are huge so honestly, my fiance and I split the food and ended up with meals around $30 for the two days we were there. read more

Great little spot to grab some food and drinks in between shredding the slopes! I got the buffalo chicken sand, very solid, and washed it down with a few cocktails. They had this hot cider/whiskey drink that hit the spot. Obviously options are slim when you're on the mountain, so this place is usually pretty packed tight, but it absolutely delivers! read more

Ate twice while boarding at Sugarbush. They were super busy on Christmas day but the kitchen and staff were killing it! Had burgers, the pretzel app, nachos - all were really good. I don't agree with price for fountain soda and then a fairly high charge for soda refill. That seemed odd. I'm ok with a little higher price for the food and the initial charge for a drink at a resort but that was a bit over. Otherwise, this place is exactly what you want it to be on a cold day and I'd go anytime. read more

Awesome apres ski spot!! Definitely gets crowded, so very helpful if you have someone in your group who doesn't ski/doesn't ski for long save a table before the rush! Tons of beer options, including lots of local favorites. Apps were tasty but pricey - $14 for nachos without chicken, $6 option to add chicken. Rest of menu looked great, but didn't have anything else. A good spot with good vibes for post-mountain fun! read more

Double diamond eating!! Experts only! Simply wanted to enjoy a peaceful meal in CRP, since finally with Covid you can get a table!! Ordered what seemed to be a great option, the Philly King. Only to find it was laden with bone shards! Like eating a sandwich with toothpicks. We brought it to the attention of a server to hopefully save lives and although management addressed it, the issue was brushed off. Be careful on the slopes and at CPR. Slopeside ski bars are often a mixed bag, but Castlerock Pub is a pleasant surprise. First, excellent beer selection. Probably the best in a ski resort bar I've ever seen (they've got a great local selection including Lawson's on tap, Switchback, and Heady Topper). Second, really nice service. I was there on Xmas Day and everyone working was great. As someone who used to have to work on Xmas day I know how awful it can be and these guys were just on their game and lovely. Third, best slopeside nachos ever. After throwing my back out coming down a run at Mount Ellen, then having to take the fucking long lift back over to Lincoln and finding my way down that run (it was a hot mess) all i wanted was a beer and some nachos. Castlerock did not disappoint. These aren't fancy nachos, but they are nachos done by someone who understands the art of nachos. Yes- that means there is LAYERED CHEESE. Right smack dab in the middle of all those chips were chips covered in beautiful fucking cheddar. Every. Single. Layer. If they added a chili option or a guac side these nachos would enter the level of sublime. And they had managed to create those wondrous nacho chips where the cheese has sorta burned and infused with the chip to become one. These nachos score a 9 outta 10. A very high score, indeed. We've got one more day of skiing from our Quad pack and I'm really looking forward to hitting up Castlerock at the end of that day. read more

The food is here awesome!! Came here three times total- once for a rehearsal dinner (I was up for a wedding) and the food was so delish. They served quinoa salad (one of the best I've ever had), spicy Thai peanut salad that was great, amazing Mac and cheese and a delish steak served medium rare. My favorite was mixing all those delish flavors together to make one amazing meal. The bar tenders were attentive and aiming to make us happy with the open bar :). The next day my bf and I wanted something yummy before the wedding so I tried their special- turkey, pears and maple mustard panini which was basically Vermont in a sandwich and it was great. My bf got the cheesesteak- okay. We are both born and raised in NJ and what the hell is wrong with this picture?? We had the best cheesesteak in Vermont! It's a little pricey, $12.95 but totally worth it. It is a very large portion severed with fries. The bread is like a pillow, the meat has amazing flavor and there is a perfect onion/pepper ratio. Guess we had the next day for lunch?? The cheesesteak of course. If we are ever in sugarbush we will be back!!!! read more

This place is a bright star at an over-priced mountain resort. It quickly became busy during the lunch hour with people clunking around in their ski-boots, faces chapped red by the wind. Everyone was being quickly served by friendly waitstaff and the bartenders were working quickly to accommodate drink orders. I tried a Bloody Mary and I have to say I was impressed. The cocktail was spicy, thick and had layers of flavor. It was the kind of Bloody Mary you sip to savor which was a pleasant surprise coming off the slopes. I tried the Fried Scallops special...served with cole slaw and fries. The scallops were fantastic - it amazed me that they weren't rubbery or chewy. The fries were well-seasoned, but the cole slaw wasn't great. It was under-seasoned, under-dressed and could have benefitted from a little less paprika on top. The special though - $9.95. For scallops! Good tasting scallops no less...very impressed. read more

Wish I could leave two reviews....I want to send a five star their way for finally recognizing that they need a reservations system to stem the tide of chaos that plagues their weekends. Maybe a first step towards acknowledging that an understaffed restaurant can only give terrible service. Kudos for making an attempt to bring some semblance of order to this sh@tsh@w. Which brings me to the other half of my review: the service. Do I have to leave a star? Ranges from indifferent-at-best to near panic. I know, I know-you're two servers short or three people called out and it's hard to smile or be pleasant or even polite- but please-just try. Don't yell at me for having a day pack, don't tell my friends to leave because they aren't drinking enough and please look up from your phone once in a while and think about your guests. True stories. Food is okay. Not good, not bad-okay. Beer selection is good if you're a tourist- but for locals, most gas stations have a better selection. Step it up. I recommend the other mountain outlets, but, at least, finally, the resort management is trying to improve the atmosphere of this overcrowded fire code violating cafeteria posing as a bar. read more

We very much enjoyed lunch here on a beautiful fall day. We sat outside where the sun kept us warm. Our server, forgot his name but he had a beard (ok City girls, not all VT men have beards), anyway he was awesome!!! We ordered the Turkey Reuben & Spicy Tuna Tostada. Fast service, good food and a friendly wait staff. Jenny & Eliza are the best. Shawn can quickly accommodate a packed bar, always with a smile. There is nothing better than sitting outside on the patio on a warm ski day. The chicken sammy is a favorite. Slopeside bar/pub at Sugarbush. Prices are typical for slopeside dining and service is pretty solid. They have a good selection of Vermont beers which is a nice touch. The food is pretty basic and and nothing too special, but the quality is always good. read more

Good and at the same time a train wreck. Girls on the tables range from perfect to complete bimbos. I have skied the mountain since 1973 so I am going to end up eating there, I don't brown bag. There's a few good things to eat, but the prices are stupid versus the quality. The steak sandwich is nice and its cheaper than a burger?? I mean how stupid is that? Lots of decent brews but most of the fricken retards that are slaves to trends are drinking nuclear backwash Pabst's Blue Ribbon. I can't imaging anything worst so what could those morons know about food. They also had a good fish and chips a few years ago but had to get rid of that. They could do way better but the guy that owns the place is a wall street asshole. read more

Accidentally found this place while out for a drive, looking for brunch, on a Saturday afternoon. Sat outside on a beautiful day, and the view of the mountain and the beautiful buildings made for a great setting. We both had BLT's. About halfway through, I was asked how it was. Came for dollar clam night on Friday. Arrived exactly 1 hour after it started. It was supposed to be going on for 3+ hours. Was immediately told by waitress that there was nothing was left at the raw bar. After some questioning, waitress reappeared many minutes later to tell us that there was indeed items raw items still available. However, she misquoted the number of items left in the back. Basically, she was completely unknowledgeable and disorganized. She took a long time to bring drinks, take the order, and deliver the order. So, once we placed the order, there was an extremely long wait before she delivered it. We inquired multiple times, only to be rebuffed. Finally we told her to cancel the order because it was taking too long but she told us she had already "rung up" the order. How is this my problem? It was nice to have on the ski videos in the background. The oysters and clams were fresh and pretty delicious once they actually arrived. In summary, you can do A LOT better than this place in Warren and surrounding times. Sometimes, a $1 clam deal is too good to be true. read more

Pub food, not too bad. That says it all. Decent selection of beer. The waitresses are very helpful and friendly. The bartender is unfriendly. The place gets extremely packed on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm for "apre ski", and it is a challenge to get a drink from the bar. Many people now just cross over to Timbers or the Pinetree to get a beer. They often close early, even on weekends. read more

After a three hour workout of tumbling down the slopes, I worked up the appetite to eat something warm and hearty. I wandered into the Sunrise Café at the base and found overpriced pastries and $7 grilled cheese sandwiches. No thank you. Then I happened to walk into The Castlerock Pub. Their menu is simple and very fairly priced for pub food and drinks. Everything is around $10-12, which is surprising since most ski resorts charge exorbitant prices for food. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, which had Greek marinated chicken breast, cheddar, bacon, and chipotle mayo. The piece of chicken breast is thick, but it was cooked perfectly and stayed tender and juicy. The chipotle mayo was fantastic and the fries came crispy. The bun is a bit oversized and it was difficult to eat with a smaller, thick piece of chicken, but overall, it satisfied my hunger. It was difficult to get a table here once noon came around so be mindful of when crowds come. read more
