We were driving to Vegas when my boyfriend realized his oil plate was scraping and loose -- turns out the bolts weren't tightened properly during his last service at our local Honda. I originally called another shop but was put on a long hold, so I quickly searched and found The Car Guys. I'm so glad I did! They were super friendly, told us to come right over, and immediately helped us out. They gave us two options, and were even able to find bolts to patch it up so we could safely make it to Vegas. These folks were fantastic. I had a breakdown over the holidays driving up to Tahoe and had to have the car towed in to be looked at. I feared the worst being stuck in between home and my destination, and knowing nothing about cars, that i could easily be taken advantage of. I could not have been more wrong. I spoke with them before hand and continually as my tow truck was delayed by 4 hours. When we arrived they dropped everything to asses my car and help me get back on the road asap. They got me in and out in under an hour and the price i was charged was even lower than the incredibly low estimate they gave me. They even found a lugnut to replace the one I've had missing for years. At ever step they were friendly and professional. I highly recommend and if i lived closer they would be my new permanant mechanic. read more

My van's alternator died on the I-5 southbound and they were the nearest shop. I called and talked to Frank and told him my issue, and he ordered the alternator. AAA towed us to the shop and they checked is in quickly. Talk about fantastic service - my van died on Thursday 5/25/2023, and they had the repair complete by early afternoon on Friday 5/26/2023. They even picked me up at our motel so we could hit the road and hightail it home! They're not open on Saturday, and Monday is Memorial Day, so if there had been *any* complications or delays, we literally would have needed to rent a car, drive home, return the rental, secure another rental, and drive back up next week. The Car Guys provided us phenomenal service from start to finish and they were definitely part of the group of angels that was watching over us on our trip. read more

This is a few weeks late but deserved nonetheless. I wanted to recharge the AC in my 2015 Volvo S60 T5 and had been looking around town. I pulled to another place to inquire about the service and getting details was like pulling teeth so I decided to go elsewhere. Made one phone call to The Car Guys and over the phone I got details on the service, the cost, etc. They were extremely helpful and professional. As soon as I arrived for my appointment my car was looked at. In the middle of the service the tech came and gave me updates on what he was doing and what to expect. Even though the shop is open-air, they have a comfortable waiting area with couch, water, coffee like you would expect. The help they provided showed kindness, especially near closing time. They were very busy, yet helped me fix a problem that allowed me to continue my journey. Just when I drove into Los Banos, the car started to make a strange sound when moving. When I drove in to the Garage area, I had to back up first, and it really had problems and started thumping. The mechanic came over and looked under the car and found the fiber skid plate was coming loose and dragging on the road. The mechanic popped it in place and used tie wraps to secure the front of the skid plate. And. . . He did not charge me! Note - I forgot to post this for more than a year. The skid plate is still holding up. read more

There aren't a lot of new car dealerships in Los Banos. There are a lot of car repair lots however. Who do you trust, especially with not so typical cars? They've been keeping my Subaru WRX running nicely. The 60,000 service fixed a few things. They installed my new struts, brakes, sparkplugs, engine mounts, axle, etc. They also performed a 4 wheel alignment. With 66K miles, the car is quick as blazes and can get 41 MPG @65 MPH. I'll need an excuse to get a new one next year..... read more

We had an alternator problem on the way from Los Angeles to Santa Cruz and were running just on battery. This was 2 days before Thanksgiving. Saw excellent review for The Car Guys and called them. We arrived early afternoon, they did a diagostic and determined it was the alternator. An hour and a half later we were on the road to Santa Cruz. They do excellent work and are reasonably priced. The place is clean (including very clean bathrooms) with comfy seating and wifi. The owners and employees are extremely nice and helpful. The only bad thing we have to say is that they're not in Los Angeles where we live--otherwise I'd use them all the time. They are great! read more

Went for an oil change. They check all fluids. Good customer service. They provide water, tea, and coffee. Wait time was about 30 minutes. They set your reminder on the car for when the car needs the next oil change. They also place a sticker with the reminder. read more

Had suspension work done 10/28/22 plus alignment. I arrived to pick up my car before closing ( 6pm ) around 530pm after dropping it off at 10am. When I arrived my car was still sitting on the rack incomplete with front tires off. When I finally received my car and drove off the alignment was still off. That evening I called the shop to inform them of the alignment. Jerry the owner agreed to reinspect the work done the following week. I'm still waiting for Jerry to fulfill his commitment made on 10/28/22. Today is 11/2/22. I should not need to leave my car at the shop all day to reinspect work that was already done nor the alignment. read more

this shop is unprofessional. They give you a reasonable price over the phone to get you down there and then double the price when you speak in person. i had an alternator replaced last year and the original price they quoted me was in the 250 dollar range. I ended up paying 500. That alternator needed to be replaced not even a year later. speaking with them over the phone they said the part was under warranty and would charge me a fraction of the original labor price. when I got there they charged me double the price they told me over the phone. I took my business elsewhere. very unprofessional. read more
