We purchased a boat from Grace Marine in February. The listing described the boat as clean, and the…read moreexternal HIN reports did not reveal any major concerns. However, after only about four hours of operation, we discovered that the transom stringers were severely rotted. According to the marine professionals we've consulted, this type of damage typically develops over several years and would not have occurred during our short period of ownership. The estimated repair costs are more than half of what we paid for the boat. We also never received a bill of sale for the purchase and zero paperwork that stated "as is". What has been most disappointing is the lack of communication. We initially attempted to resolve the issue directly with Grace Marine rather than pursue legal action. We made it clear that we were simply looking for a fair solution. Unfortunately, after some initial conversations, communication stopped and our calls and messages went unanswered. One statement that stood out was when Grace Marine's investor/owner acknowledged that the boat should not have been sold without these issues being addressed first. That made the situation even more frustrating. As a business owner myself, we believe transparency and accountability matter. We understand that problems can arise with used boats, but how those problems are handled after the sale speaks volumes about a company. We are two young people who work extremely hard, my partner especially, and it has been discouraging to be left with extensive repairs and no meaningful assistance. We wish Grace Marine the best moving forward, but based on our experience, we would not purchase another boat from them and cannot recommend them to others.

It was dangerously hot and not a positive experience. Their other rental pontoon blew past us. We told them that when we returned and were asked what did we expect. Really?? Clearly Mom needs to teach her boys something about customer service. Would not recommend renting from them unless you get the rental that goes over 7 mph. $379 to go 7mph. How could anyone in good conscience charge that?

Careless Careless Careless. Took my boat M&M Marine to be sold on consignment. I asked Jeff if…read morethe boat could be stored inside as I did not own a cover. Jeff said that "he would see what he could do" and mentioned that he had an old cover if it did have to sit outside. I called every 3 weeks to check on activity. After almost 3 months of no luck we agreed that I would come get the boat and try to sell it in a different area. When I arrived I learned that the boat had been sitting next to a grain bin with no cover on it. The brand new interior was filthy. Under the seats there was standing water and grain bin filth. My new life vests were covered in black mildew. Then I collected my paperwork and learned that my spare ignition key, my glove box key, and my surge brake lockout insert had been lost. Then upon hooking the boat to my truck I learned that the brake breakaway cable had been drug. The hook apparently caught on something and was straightened and when this happened it pulled the breakaway cable out of the housing in the wrong direction and tore the sheath from it. Jared was polite but pretty much shrugged it all off. I questioned the fellow in the shop and his response was "I'm not going to stand here an argue with you" and walked in to the shop. I scrubbed my brand new interior over and over again and got it back to a 9 out of 10 condition. Thanks a lot M&M.

Giving 1 star because he answered the phone. Took my twin-engine boat to this location with a motor…read moreissue. Motors weren't running in sync with each other. After sitting for a week (which I have no issue with) he then did a "test ride". I stopped by to get some items from my boat the following weekend to find it in an open gravel lot, uncovered and not secured at all. During a conversation with Richard (owner), he told me about how he and his wife took it for a "test ride" to the lake. Said they put it on the water early and it drew a crowd, then how a Baja wanted to race him and he beat the Baja. Apparently, another twin-engine toon tried to race him as well to no avail though, he won that race too! He then commented on how many people were drawn to my boat while he and his wife enjoyed lunch. Weird right? A test ride from early morning to include a couple of races then a lunch stop? Wow, must have been thorough! He determined it was a leaking head gasket and it should be covered under warranty. Told me about Covid and how Evinrude only has 1 employee, it will probably be weeks to hear back, etc., etc. I offered to pay for the service with the understanding that I'd be reimbursed when the warranty claim went through. When I picked the boat up I noticed a blood spot on the toon, he told me no worries that was his blood, no big deal. Then I realized why he was bleeding, he caught his arm on a burr caused by the large deep scratch in the aluminum of the outer toon. Further investigation showed that my toon and my rub rail were both badly scraped/scratched where it appears something had backed into it or it was scraped along something. He said to let him know the cost and he'll cover it. Fast forward several emails and a few month's time. I've never been reimbursed, he knows nothing of the scratches and scrapes, and my motors still don't run in sync. I'd find another dealer if I were looking.

Eldie owns the shop and his son Justin and daughter Kirsten work at the business which makes them a great team because they are a very close family. When I am in Galena I love to go fishing so my boat is very important to me. The one thing I greatly admire about Eldies is they do excellent work and I know I can absolutely 100% trust them. Eldie recently helped me get a new trolling motor as mine was outdated and not functional. Eldie had a boat owner looking to sell his trolling motor which was almost brand new and truly state of the art. Eldie was able to get me a great deal on the trolling motor so I bought it and Eldies son Justin and staff member Mason rewired the boat and did an excellent job of installing the motor which is so simple to operate. If you need work on your boat in the Galena or Dubuque area, Eldies should be your first stop. They do outstanding, reliable work and I know they are going to tell me the truth and give me options to resolve the problem. This is a long time, family run business that does outstanding work and they can always be trusted to do the right thing for their customers.
