Poorly fitting window covering - taken the day it was installed. It has not improved with time.

Everything started out great. Michael was very responsive, better than most of the canvas shops I was working with to obtain quotes. His pricing is significantly higher, but I figured I'd be getting a superior product. I am doing the entire canvas on a 48' boat, not an inexpensive or small job. So I paid the deposit (in early June 2020) and then was told they couldn't schedule me until mid July. That's fine but we're cruising that time of year, so it would need to be end of September. I asked Michael if he could complete the windshield portion which he did before we left, and I was grateful for that. He confirmed I was on the calendar for this time, and we were schedule for end of September, close to months away. Late August rolls around and I email to confirm the appointment. I hear nothing. I then have to follow up with Chris, another staff member over there. He at least responds, but says they'll get back to me. A week goes by and I finally hear back that they can't schedule me until the last week of November because of Covid. First of all COVID was in full swing in June when I schedule and paid the deposit. Second, this was already scheduled with 4 months lead time - needing another 2 is just ridiculous. Worst still, the owner was unapologetic and uncaring that he had broken our agreement - it must be nice to be in a position to tell clients willing and able to write a 15k check to pound sand. To add to it, in receiving a refund I discovered that this shop was attempting to charge 12.7% for sales tax. This was due to a "QuickBooks error" Worst of all, the covers themselves are not fantastic (especially given the price) the fit loosely and flop in the wind. I figured I'd get this addressed when I return in late September, but now that's not happening. I'd strongly recommend you avoid this shop. Pretty much the only good thing I can say is that they sent me my deposit back quickly.

This is right after the new canvas was re-installed on my yacht.

Chris came out, did some measurements and consulted with their seamstress live to come up with some ideas.

We hired a general contractor and agreed to use all of their selected subcontractors except for a small subset we insisted on selecting ourselves, including High Tech Screens & Shades. We thankfully discovered High Tech Screens via online searches, and validated them through our Windows & Doors subcontractor/reseller. (we installed the highest end Marvin Ultimates and Marvin Moderns throughout our project) High Tech (Josh and Justin) arrived as scheduled, and always on time. They assessed and installed custom screens on four of our doors, including two outswinging french doors (2 screens on each), and two single outswinging doors. High Tech's attention to detail and quality work is notable. The finishes match our door trim as desired. The function of the screens are excellent, and the screens "hide-away" from view when not in use / retracted. Further, High Tech's screens and craftsmanship are so good that we unfortunately had a worker inadvertently walk through one of them after installation (the installation was so clean he didn't see the screen). Josh and Justin found time to return to the site within 48 hours and repair the screen so that it works like new. We cannot recommend highly enough High Tech Screens & Shades. If you are looking for a professional job/installation for screens for a high-end home, they are the truly the only firm you need to consider.

I called a company that does new installs, but they referred me to Efren at TheShadeLand. They told me that they would contract it out to Efren anyway, so there's no reason to go through them. I called Efren and explained to his wife Carina what I wanted. Within minutes, she send me a quote over e-mail which was satisfactory to me. Efren and one other guy showed up on time, were very polite and organized, and did a great job of replacing my awning arms and fabric. They thoroughly tested everything before they left. The awning looks great, and they also cleaned up after themselves, including a lot of cardboard boxes and old awning fabric. I could not have asked for a better install and repair experience end-to-end than they delivered. I thought it was a fair price for the difficult and dangerous work of doing an awning install ...

I called the local dealer that SunSetter recommended, who in turn suggested I work directly with Efren of The Shadeland.
