Camera Exchange is a solid local photography shop with a good selection and knowledgeable staff. They have a huge selection of photography focused backpacks and tripods, and as you'd expect, a lot of cameras, too. New and used gear is offered for sale. You can rent gear in the back just in front of their in house studio room. They also offer classes and events which are great for anyone interested in photography. The store does get busy on weekends and you may find yourself waiting a while for help. While the selection is big for San Antonio, it's not as extensive as you'd find at stores in other major cities, but being able to interact with at least some products is helpful. Overall a solid shop, will return.

I was in town for a stay at an exotic animal ranch. I felt like maybe I should rent a longer lens to up my game. Was pleasantly surprised at the pricing of renting a lens! Totally worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to snag a lens cap and some film as well. I wish there was something like this closer to home for me, but then again, my wallet is glad there isn't.

I came into the store with some old Pentax k1000 film cameras passed down by my late father. Not even two steps into the store I was greeted warmly by Grant who asked how he could help. I told him that I just wanted to gain some knowledge about the cameras and that I noticed the view finder was black on one of them so I thought it was maybe broken. He took his time with each camera, pointed out interesting facts about how certain years of the camera were built in different countries and how that related to how mine were made of metal and not plastic etc and that one of the lenses was pretty sought after (50mm 1.2). Plus some other good info. He cleaned the lenses, pointed out how one of the three would need a deeper cleaning and showed me that the view finder wasn't broken but was just getting stuck now and then and taught me a way to temporarily fix the issue so the camera could be used. This review is getting too long but there were many other instances of how he helped us out. At the end he helped me pick out my first two rolls of film so I can start using the cameras. Truly a great experience at this store. Thank you Grant

Does this establishment fix cameras?

Hi Aaron! We do repairs through a third party service. If you bring your gear in, we'll take a look at it and can send ti off for a repair estimate, at which point you can decide whether or not you'd like to proceed with the repair.

We experienced disability discrimination here a few years back. This is a social media platform so I…read moream going to speak freely about it with out intimidation though I realize they may try... Definitely left a bad feeling about this place regardless of a few of the good teachers that do work here my son met in the teen summer program. As a non profit based accredited establishment it just still doesn't sit well with me..The way everything was handled after my written complaint against the teacher was atrocious. It's a lot to process in ones heart and mind when something like this happens and the situation was It's a long story but In short.A glass blowing teacher who was working with the school reached out to me by telephone because my 16year old sons mild stimming (he is autistic) was making the 4 adult members of the class uncomfortable and they as well as the teacher seemed to conclude that the place was not for him because the other students and herself thought he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol... He has a mild fluttering of his hands and occasionally giggles subconsciously.. A common trait in folks with ADHD and on the autism spectrum. The teacher added insult to injury by claiming to "know how to work with autistic children and wanted to work with him 1 on 1" and she didn't think he was a good fit because he "could get hurt" Like I should trust a person like that 1 on one.Made it through the call and just let her rattle on then started up a email to Barbra the president of the SWAC at the time. FYI he has taken 2 welding classes prior from another company and been in metal jewelry making classes and worked with furnaces before. He is quite mature and intelligent. To Infantilize people on the spectrum IS discriminatory. To assume they are on drugs IS discrimination and gross. The arts community should be more accepting. This info I held back because the president elected of the school Barbra at was experiencing illness and I had sympathy for the situation but everything about this situation was mishandled. The theme was to try and prove my son was incompetent of being in a class without a appointed attendant by the school to watch over him only there wasn't any available and they didn't allow him to take any other classes he was signed up for because they concluded by the advice of the glass blower woman he was unfit and a danger to the class. This was untrue. Offered me most of my money back with the exception of a $900 credit they never honored.Still get mail and emails asking for contributions but when they redid their website my credit and history of purchases just disappeared... What happened was disability discrimination and injustice. Ran off with my credit for a $900 class too.Disappeared completely and I am not about to call them to have some bureaucrat mamm me and tell me how they won't return my money because I'm sure they have no record of it now.. Try and do what you can to ensure a good life for your kids and when you are met with this kind of thing it's not only discouraging but heartbreaking too. Made sure my son didn't know a thing about the awful things the teacher said but he was disappointed the classes got canceled and just didn't feel like a safe space for him anymore so never used my $900 credit of what they didn't refund me.

I noticed signs pointing to a gift shop, gallery, museum and lunch place. So i ventured in further. The gift shop is a neat little shop with artsy stuff. The little museum is homage to the locations history as a convent school. I did not see the gallery but there were works of art on display in the hall. The lunch restaurant was closed today. Need to check the hours. This was worth the visit just fir the neat old buildings and beautiful grounds. Everything else a nice bonus. UPDATE: Unfortunately the gift shop is no longer here. The cafe here is the Copper Kitchen. A very nice inexpensive place for a delicious lunch. The menu changes daily but you can call them to see what they are serving that day. I have gotten tasty soups, salads and sandwiches here. Very good lunch fair.

Had a great experience getting my headshot done with Kevin!…read more He was quick in responding when I inquired about getting a professional headshot for work. After my initial call, he had sent a form to get my appointment booked for the next weekday. I arrived about 15-20 minutes earlier than my expected appointment and never brought it up, nor did he make me wait. He also offered to wear a mask if I felt more comfortable and offered me a bottled water. I never felt rushed, and he made it clear he could take as many photos as I'd like until I was satisfied. Highly recommend.

He was so prepared to the point he provided the class with binders that included all of the information he was showing on the screen. He is extremely patient and goes out of his way to be sure every student understands what he is saying. I don't care how long you've been photographing, I'm pretty sure you'll learn something new. If you're a beginner this is definitely the class to be in. I cannot recommend his classes enough. They are not overpriced and you get a lot of bang for your buck.

The service is fast, and they are very, very knowledgeable about their craft. They make great recommendations, and can really help get your development done in the best way possible. Sure, they're a bit (a lot) more expensive than going to Walgreens for your photo development. But Walgreens is just going to spit your photos out on the cheapest paper possible, without a person even looking it over to make sure that it looks its best. Instead, River City Silver will have your photos printed in the highest definition possible, will tweak the settings to make sure it looks good, and even puts a border around the photos, suitable for framing.
