The Cameleer is a great cool little shop. The items here have been curated from all over the world. There were bowls from China and Thailand, wood carved items from India, and Russian dolls. There were various sculptures and useful household items. Most of the items are decorative, but some have functional use as well. Its a nice shop to pick up a few unique gift for others or even yourself. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. If you half some time, I highly suggest your browse through this unique store. read more

I have shopped at Cameleer since they opened more than 20 years ago. Not only do they offer unique items from around the world, the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. The owner gets to know her customers and can recommend gifts based on your own taste. It angers me to read the occasional review giving it "one star" when what they've written is patently untrue. The review dated May of 2020 is particularly absurd because Cameleer closed in March of that year due to the pandemic and didn't reopen until summer. I will always support them because of the many beautiful items I've found there and the wonderful service I have always gotten. When friends come to town and want to look around, I always send them to Cameleer. read more

This is a fun stop every time my wife and I are in town. We seem to never walk out empty handed as they've such a selection of useful and excentric items for the home, yard or person. Their prices are reasonable, and my enjoyment is walking in a museum-like atmosphere. Oh, and the staff are really nice. Watch for their seasonal sales too, you can really walk out with some fantastic deals. Did I mention it's huge. This is a highly recommended stop for anyone! read more

I'm always looking for fun, different places to shop and buy gifts, so I was *really* excited to stumble upon The Cameleer one afternoon in Culpeper. Think of Ten Thousand Villages, and you have an idea of what The Cameleer is like. Although it has a bit more varied selection and bigger inventory. It also seems a little more upscale and refined, tho I really do love Ten Thousand Villages. It's such a great place to browse for awhile, but if you stay too long you'll want to buy everything. And they sell everything: handbags, jewelry, decorative arts for the home and garden, children's hobbies. It's a wonderfully eclectic mix of Aboriginal goods from all over the world. I've picked up gorgeous amber earrings, a cozy, mint green, cowl neck sweater, a pottery lizard for the flower pots...every time you turn around there's something waiting to delight you! Check out the sales sections and the sales racks of clothes, too. You can find a real bargain (hello cozy cowl neck!). I wish I lived closer to Culpeper and could visit The Cameleer more often! read more

If you visit downtown Culpeper you must stop in this gem of a store. They occupy the biggest footprint of all of the retail establishments downtown because their inventory is so unique and impressive. read more

Terrible customer service. Store owner is beyond rude. Overpriced and judgemental staff.

I was walking through town with mom who is a recovering Cancer patient and very elderly. She was limping pretty bad as she been having issues as a result of the radiation therapy and saw a chair to sit down in. So we went in for that reason. Lady in front quickly asked us if we had our masks and asked us to leave when we said no. (Just to be clear the mask mandate is not currently in effect) Didn't offer a disposable mask. Didn't give her a few minutes to catch her breath. Blown away about how in name of better health, had no concern about an old lady with heath conditions. read more

Great store! Loads of wonderful, different and unusual items. They have jewelry, clothing, leather goods, kids stuff, household goods, you name it. If it is unusual and really cool. It is there. Most of the clothes are Tienello and natural fibers, the jewelery is mostly siver with a smattering of gold and opals. And there is a ton of cool african things, drums, and wooden goods and fabric... Need I go on?...! go there, get your mom something, and while you are at it get yourself a possum down sweater. read more

This is a cool little spot in Culpeper. I've walked over here a couple times after eating at It's About Thyme to browse, and I ended up picking up a couple decorative items for my living room here. It's a great spot for gifts. Someone actually got me a couple of coasters there. Like many of the other items there, they are pretty unique. One has a drawing of a ship on stormy seas, the other has a couple of flintlock muskets. Some other examples they have there are some wood sculptures, and also they had some really cool sculptures made from the metal of coke bottles. Really neat store for various gift ideas! We visited 3 times and found all kids if interesting things!

No stars, Awful, experience. This was my usual place to go during the summer. They always had the best, unique items. I've always found a few treasure to take home with me. Was looking for the same experience on Monday, but instead I had this young lady following me around the clothing section, watching me, pretending like she was arranging the hangers of clothing items, no one in their right mind would buy, and things no one except the staff had touched either. In other words, nothing needed her special attention, and she was most definitely following me. Please believe neither I nor anyone else would try to steal those clothes. Also, not once did she ask me if I needed any help, she didn't even speak to me while I was walking around. I've never been profiled in my entire life by anyone, at any of the stores I've ever gone to except this one. I asked my friend who was waiting in the front of the store if she noticed me being followed. She also confirmed my suspicion. The two pair of earrings I had another clerk pull and set aside for me were asked to be put back in the case, and I walked back and put the neat socks I found back on the rack. There is no way I would give my patronage to any store who sales people would behave like this. Not getting my money, honey. Will never shop there again and Shame!!!! read more

Amazing store in the cute old part of town. This store is a must to see. It's kind of like world market but turned into a boutique and the prices are about 5-10x more expensive. They have jewelry and some local artsy stuff but again very pricey. Great place to shop for unique gifts. I would buy just about everything in there. Minus the clothing, lol. The clothing is basically loose/flowy pieces geared toward mature women I would say 45+. Kind of like dress barn type dresses and jackets in earthy printed fabrics. 1/3 of the store is clothing and 1/3 jewelry (gorgeous, unique, artisan pieces) and the other third is household knick knacks and what not. Overall a great shop but due to the prices I would just go to world market. I saw quite a few things that were the same. They also had beautiful dishes but again, I've see them sold at Costco for the holiday season and zulily and they were 1/4 the price tag they had on them. But if you're in town, definitely stop by and if you have the money it's a great place to buy unique gifts! read more

Went to The Cameleer to look for a birthday gift for my mother in law. While they have a great unique selection, the staff was extremely rude. I was followed around the store the whole time by an employee who stood no more than five feet away from me. It would have been less awkward if he would have spoken, said hi or asked if I needed help but he just stood there and moved when I moved. While I saw many great gifts I refuse to buy from a place that treats customers like that. read more
