I have not visited Dragon Song in years and am happy to say it is still the same, great place I…read moreremember. Now that I am joining the "back to vinyl records" bandwagon, this is the first place I looked up. And glad I did! I happened to visit the day before they celebrated their 40th anniversary and am happy to report that Dragon Song's same peace-and-love philosophy is alive and well. Walking in the door is akin to entering a time machine and immediately puts a smile on your face and in your heart. This place does a soul good! Other reviewers have already talked about the good selection of vinyl records (new and used), cassette tapes, 8-track tapes (yes, I said 8-track and in the ORIGINAL packaging), CDs, concert and tie dye t-shirts, dragon goodies, black light posters, black lights and other various paraphernalia. So I will not bother to mention those in my review. :-) John Burgess is the original owner, hasn't changed a lick and still stands tall in the captain's chair behind the counter. In addition to being a really good guy, John is a walking encyclopedia of all things 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. The great thing about John is that he does not come across as a "know it all" and will gladly listen to your trip down memory lane just as much as he is willing to share his. I could stay and talk with John for hours but decided to pace myself and, instead, go back frequently. In these days of buying everything online, we really owe it to ourselves to support our local brick and mortar businesses and patronize Dragon Song. Not only will you enjoy the experience and be glad you walked through the front door, you might just gain a new friend or two. Additionally, the next generation will thank you for preserving a page from the past for them to enjoy. Dragon Song is highly recommended! Hope to see you there because I will be going back again, and again, and again, and... well you get the picture.

I am returning to vinyl records and recently purchased a record player. The owner, John, was personable and helpful and offered sound advice on vinyl records and caring for my new player. In addition to picking up albums from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Bob Marley, I also picked up some handmade incense and a cleaning kit. Overall, it was a pleasant shopping experience, and I will return to Dragon Song the next time I am in Manassas. It is important to support local, small businesses!

I have been going to McKay Used Books for many years now. As a teacher, I really like seeking out…read morechildren books and teacher books. My husband likes to browse music books, and all sorts of books. It is simply a great place to go and wander and find those books that speak to you. The prices are great too. Now don't just wander, be sure to buy those good books!

HUGE used book store and well worth the drive!…read more Their trade in process was really straightforward - when you walk in there's a trade in counter where they ask you to put your books into bins. I had one large bag that I sorted between two bins, one for books and the other for single issue comics and DVDs/non-books. About 45 minutes later I got a text that my trade-in was ready. I came back to the same counter after browsing the store and they offered me in-store credit or a lower amount in cash. They also returned the items they didn't want and I had the option to take them with me or leave them as a donation. I think it was a fair deal for what I donated, and I opted for the in-store credit. The store has a great mix of used books, dvds, comics, vinyl, and more that's pretty well organized. I will say there's a fair amount of duplicates of certain titles and it was interesting that some were priced higher than others - so check all the labels! In general the prices were reasonable with a few exceptions - I saw a really worn copy of a new hardback that they were selling for the list price ($35!) even though it had been out long enough that other books sellers were discounting it already. But then I also got a box set of dvds for $10 and a bunch of kids books for $0.50-2.00. It was easy to spend that in-store credit!
