Parkway Bakery and Tavern has been around since 1911 (and the current ownership has had it since…read more1997), so obviously, they are doing something right. I pulled up on a Sunday and since I called it in just under an hour before closing, I decided to get it to go. I ordered it about twenty minutes out and when I arrived, it was ready. The takeout process was in itself unique. I pulled up to what they called a "yellow tollbooth) to pay. He called on his radio that I paid and I pulled up to a covered door and they handed off my food. The overall ambiance from outside looked cool enough. Next time, I will eat it there, but I just did not want to be inconsiderate to everyone getting out on time. I found a local park and tore into my food. I went with the large surf and turf po' boy (roast beef and shrimp) and found it very good. For the price point, out the door with taxes, it was just over twenty dollars. We adopted our dog back in Feb and was looking for places to take her that was adulty as well. And sure enough, this place was highly recommended to us. We did research and knew we had to register our dog and provide all the paper work to show she is up to date on her shots. So, we did all that before and we brought the paperwork in case. We were greeted by a very sweet lady and she looked over our stuff and showed us how to use the website and app to log in and to open the physical gate there. They normally charge a $5 fee for non members, but they were kind enough to wave it. We also happened to come during happy hour and they had some delicious cocktails! Their HH is daily from 4-6. They make a really tasty martini espresso called the Iced Zoomies (it is not on the HH menu FYI). We didn't order any food yet. However I did order a pup cup and she loved it. We have been a few times since. I love the atmosphere. It is laid back and the chairs are comfortable. You can sit at the bar or in the dog area. They have plenty of fans and there are plenty of toys and kiddie pools for the dogs. It is all well kept. The dog area is AstroTurf, not grass, so it is good for dogs with allergies. The only thing I wish, was that the space for the dogs was larger, but not much they can do about it. The bathrooms are clean with super fun dog flooring and a doggie hook for your purse or something. The deck space is large enough for a bigger group, and again, lots of fans since this space is outdoors. I am really happy this place is here and that the people here and the space is so great!

Evenly distributed toppings (pepperoni or Hawaiian) and a crust that's crunchy and soft in all the right spots. Coming soon: loaded baked potato fries. Rich and indulgent for the cool winter weather. They've got a new batch of mocktails. My pups love the puppy pizza! Thin banana crepes with blueberry sauce and greek yogurt dollops. The staff here always welcomes folks with a smile and deliver drinks and food quickly. Eat inside the park at your own risk, or watch your pup play from the bar.

Italian sandwich shop conveniently located by Tulane!…read more If you have ever been to Italy, you know this iconic focaccia bread sandwich, well here it is in New Orleans! The Roma is probably my favorite because it is more savory. The positano was a little sweeter than I expected with the fig jam. I love the fig jam. Both sandwiches were great and you can't go wrong Price is pricey Bread is oily Parking is street and somewhat difficult to find, had to walk 2 blocks Only has about 3 small tables to sit outside, otherwise you're out of luck. I took it to go since there was no seating. Overall, I'd definitely come back. I think half a sandwich per person would suffice instead of a whole next time. It still tasted good after being in the fridge for a day.

The prosciutto was heavenly, the sweetness of the fig spread coupled with the spicy Calabrian chilis is out of this world. Sooo good! Mike had the Pisa. Despite the chicken being a perfectly thin cotoletta (yes, I have been taking Italian lessons for the past year ) it was still moist and crispy. The sauce was wonderful and the mozzarella was melted to form the most delightful sandwich. We had planned to get back over there before we left town but failed to. Alas, another reason to come back to NOLA This place is not an eat in establishment but has 3 tables outside for you to enjoy your sandwiches. The young lady who took our order was friendly and pleasant and one of the owners (the mom) chatted with us. Our experience was wonderful. It reminded us of our visits to sandwich shops in Firenze. Panini deliziosi!

Muffulettu (8.5/10): my first time having this kind of sandwich. Dang, it is so good. Loved the sesame bread. Tuna was amazing. All the sauces came together so well. Felt pretty light, too! Definitely great to pair with the po'boy Sicilian Sashimi (9/10): I've never had sashimi like this, but I was all for it. Fish was fresh and tender. The capers and olive oil really paired well with it. We met one of the chef-owners and she was very helpful and kind! Really sad that they were out of a lot of things like the daiquiris, crudo, ceviche, tostadas, oysters, etc. due to it being right after Labor Day.

The Good: The Staff was lovely and the Tostada was AMAZING!…read more The Bad: Everything else... Outside of the Tostadas, the food we had was shockingly bad. The fried "Captain's Platter" is $35, it's worth maybe $12. It was 4 shrimp, 4 oysters, and a decent sized piece of fish, all considerably over-fried, with fairly plain coleslaw and hushpuppies that looked like they had been cooking since the shift the day before. --- I honestly couldn't believe this was brought to the table, but it seemed normal so apparently that is how it is served there. It was VERY small and fairly overcooked. The boiled crabs were mush. Decent flavor, not great. Would not recommend. The charbroiled oysters again seemed to have been cooking for 3-4 times longer than they should have. They were rubber, flavorless and unappetizing to look at. They were pretty bad. - At least they were clean. I didn't get any shell. But I also didn't get any oyster in 1 of the 6 oysters served at $18. Then we got a Sausage Poboy. The sausage was decent, but the sandwich wasn't good. WHY WOULD YOU TOAST THE BREAD? NO ONE WANTS SAUSAGE BETWEEN TWO CROUTONS. Just kind of a weird mistake that makes you wonder if anyone there has tried to eat any of their own food. Because it's not easy... Honestly 90% of the food we got there was pretty bad. But we will be back for Tostada alone. That was phenomenal. 10/10 Delicious.

Well, this little mom and pop store beside the highway in Mid-city is about as authentic as it comes, but not for poboys, for Cuban food. I can say with confidence that they do the best Cuban sandwich in NOLA. And it costs less than $5. They are super fast. Expect to be in and out in 5 minutes every time. Sin falta. Fastest Cuban granny this side of the Florida straits! They also do a first rate hot lunch: beans and rice, yuca with mojo, roast pork, and flan. Ropa vieja. Anything Cuban, they'll do it. Pre-Katrina it was a full scale operation, but the grandma who forms the foundation for the enterprise now just does food to go at the back of the grocery store. My wife is Cuban, and let me tell you that this place is the real deal...better than the real deal because the family who runs it came over just after the revolution and combines all they know about their country's pre-Castro cuisine with New Orleans knack for kick it up a notch flavor. But loyal to the wonderfulness of their culture, they don't ruin the original, which is even rarer. Instead they improve upon it, but with finesse. Roast pork, ham, swiss, pickle and mustard, perfectly pressed together with a Bustelo coffee and plantain chips? Look no further as you have hit gold, found paradise, located the source of eternal bliss cubano at the Regla store! I am a regular here. These guys are my small business heroes. A hidden treasure in quality and value. Give them some business and feel good about it both for you and for them. In my opinion, they could easily charge more, but do not. I am addicted to these things now, so I hope they keep everything just the way it is. A lo maximo!
