My son & I enjoyed our first visit today. Burgers are good, they have some interesting options. We went with the standard tin can & bacon burger. Gooey cheese, good seasoning on the meat- we really appreciate that they locally source their meat!! My son liked the fries-shoestring- I wasn't a fan but I will say that they give you a bunch. Food took 45 min to get. Manager is the only person who could serve alcohol and it took 20 mins for him to pour the drinks because he was in the back of the restaurant. Teenage employees running the front of the house are not managing time well they need a manager to tell them what to do. Food was good, when we finally received it. read more

The mighty have fallen. We discovered the Burger Dock in Sandpoint years ago and started driving there once every few months. Took our out of town friends there to try the fresh taste and sit outside in the sun. Very fun but not convenient at 150 miles round trip but if it's on a sight seeing drive, absolutely a must stop. We started hitting the CDA spot a few years ago and although it's a beautiful building we found parking to be annoying and something was slightly off with the atmosphere. It's difficult to determine if the food is exactly the same without side by side test but it seemed slightly different. Fries at CDA totally failed compared to Sandpoint. Still, it was comparable to Rodgers and better than Wendy's. Especially if you want something special like Brie cheese. However, things changed. Over our last three visits we noticed a decrease in quality of taste, appearance of food (crushed and lopsided burgers and spilled fries), proper temperature of food being served, service at the counter (its non existent outside of ordering), friendliness of staff, and most importantly what seems to us to be a menu price increase that outpaced most other places in the market. Going out needs to give you quality better than an average cook can create at home especially at these prices. During our last visit we left our food uneaten. It was just not good. read more

Why only 3 stars? Service. Which wasn't totally bad, but the grill was empty for 20 minutes, and it was 30 minutes before our food was put on. I understand patrons arriving before us being served first, but that was a long time of nothing. Did the cook take a break? I don't think so. And I didn't like the super runny special sauce they use instead of cheese. This was a very messy bacon burger. Price. Not worth nearly $17 for a burger and fries. I know just a few dollars less isn't that big a deal, but I feel around $14 is a better value. The shake, however, was worth the $7. Bathroom: only one. With families. Multiple families with children under 1. Positive side: Fries are great. Milkshake is awesome! So creamy, not that gritty stuff you get from fast food. Service? yes, we were checked on, and order taking was easy, but still, an empty grill for 20 minutes? Atmosphere: ok. High ceilings allowed for lots of noise, and loud children were everywhere (including the patio), not the restaurant's fault, but again, noise. I got to view interesting shows on 3 monitors, no cc, and my friend got to view a post. Literally, a support post. Why isn't a monitor placed from the wall view? I do appreciate the information on the chalk board that stated the origins/history, and the local sourcing. Always up for supporting local sources. read more

Burger Dock is one of the best burgers around. We drive from Spokane and are so pleased with the new location, as we use to drive to Sandpoint for the burgers! We had excellent burgers, fries and service at peak Saturday dinner time. The building and what looks like restoration is a beautiful and open space. You cannot beat the Tin Can for $10. The cheesey gooey burger with sautéed onions and fresh toppings. The fries are plentiful, excellent and shareable. The fry sauce is out of this world, one of a kind. I love Burger Dock and supporting a wonderful local business. Best burger for quality and price in all of CDA, Spokane, Sandpoint. read more

Burger was fine and kinda small, they gave me the most greasy and old fries and when I looked at others people table they seemed better. Tables and floor was dirty too. For the amount of people working there. They should be checking on that every now and then. read more

Would I ever come back here, no. Was it awful, no, but it was just mediocre, and it's a $20 burger. If you want mediocre, then go to pretty much any fast food restaurant and you'll get similar quality for half the price. My burger was very well done and tough. It had a bunch of tendons that kept getting stuck in my teeth. The service was just ok as well. They weren't unfriendly, but they weren't friendly either. Had the Stinger burger (special) and was not disappointed. Flavors were fantastic and the staff was very attentive! Fries were also very good, as was the huckleberry shake. Came in during the Coeur d'Alene street fair. It was busier than average, but they were whipping the burgers out fast so it didn't take too long to get ours. The wife and I split their burger special, the "Hucklebee", which had all kinds of huckleberry goodness as well as melted brie. it was very, very good. The fries were also good and fresh. Yes, their fry sauce is mustard based but the wife and I greatly preferred that over the ketchup based sauces. Limited draft beer selection but plenty of bottles and cans to choose from. It's an open-air space with three or four televisions, so it can get a little noisy but it never got uncomfortable. The one thing I want to give big kudos for is the sanitation. The wife and I were sitting at the bar next to the grill, and every time we saw the cook handling anything that might be a concern for cross-contamination they were washing their hands immediately. The cook top was clean. They make the burgers in waves, and between every wave they were cleaning and sanitizing. Both the wife and I come from a food service background, and it was wonderful seeing the care and concern the staff showed in making sure everything was sanitary. Okay so ordered a burger PLAIN NO CHEESE and they put MUSTARD ON IT.. what part of PLAIN says mustard?! The guy tried to just scrape off the mustard and hand it back. How does that remove the TASTE of mustard? The menu, by the way, doesn't mention anywhere that they put mustard on the burgers. So scraping it off doesn't work and the cook says, "well, I've already made it" like that's supposed to make it okay to eat the foul thing. Nope. The manager finally comes out. "We've run out of patties, only one more" to which I reply... "well, I guess that's the one you're using then!" Won't be back. I can understand mistakes/miscommunication, but being argued with by two employees is pathetic. Offer to immediately fix the problem and give a little money back. Burger was overpriced. Milkshake was minuscule for the price. Ambiance is nice other than the cheering from the staff when they figured out they ran out of burger patties and might get off early. Popped in here on a whim on a Friday evening about 15 min before they closed. We were at a fundraiser event that was serving food but still hadn't served it sow we were starving and decided to try it out. We first asked if it was too close to their closing time and was told not a problem. We promised to eat fast and not keep them late and explained our situation. The cook was so friendly and chatted with us and told us to take our time as there were other patrons in the restaurant finishing up as well. The burger was so good! Fresh and cooked to order right in front of us. Quality ingredients with a delicious sauce and soft squishy bun just like I like it! The fries were some of the best I have had in ages, seasoned with ranch and salt and not over seasoned. We will definitely be back for not only the food but for the service. read more

I work downtown and don't eat out often. Today, I decided to order take-out lunch from Burger Dock because they had some decent salads. I ordered their quinoa salad with extra protein, when I picked it up, I asked for a bag since I had several blocks to walk. The girl seemed totally thrown off by this request and told me no, no bag. Okay, so I walked back to my office and opened up my salad for lunch. NO DRESSING! There was no way I was walking all the way there and back again to get dressing. I paid $18.50 for a lunch salad and it was dry as a bone. I choked down as much as I could, but threw the rest away because it's difficult to eat dry lettuce and quinoa. Even with limited options for lunch in CDA, I will not order lunch from here again. read more

The burger was fine.... sauce (fry sauce) is awful!!! It's mostly mustard and they gave so much. The fires are down right PERFECT! The milkshake was delicious but it was smaller then I expected for the price. The atmosphere felt very hipster/liberal (not an insult just uncomfortable for an average joe. The employees (cashed and cook) were super nice and very responsive to me questions. I don't enjoy the tip before I know how the food and service is but there is worse out there. THE PRICE......holy cow this place makes five guys look live a value menu. It's pretty pricey for what you get, not to mention the request for a tip at a counter service restaurant. Four employees hanging out behind the counter, with two burgers on the griddle... It seems customers bus their own tables but there were plenty of dirty table tops and empty drinks. Get out there and earn that tip! I waited tables for nine years. I would of loved to hand the bill over before you sat down and demand a tip. Not to mention do nothing to earn it Sorry, I mean run two baskets 12 feet. The "fair and equitable pay" should come from the employer. Not the customer that's already paying a premium for a subpar burger. Dry, small, and unseasoned. Lots of fries though! Been thinking about trying Burger Dock for more than a year now because we have other favorites which are always top notch, like Schmidty's for example. Today was to be the "big day". We went into The Burger Dock, building almost empty....maybe 3 other customers. We ordered a couple of burgers. I mean, how does a company expect to compete when they have such terrible ways of operating? Dirty table when we sat down after it had been allegedly "cleaned". Waited at least a half an hour for our two burgers!! Zero attention from the hostess...no waitress. Asked for water and the girl pointed over toward a table where my wife couldn't find any glasses. A fellow patron assisted. The burgers were priced outrageously even by today's absurd standards, and I'm sorry, but the burgers were thin and over cooked. Mine was supposed to feature Jalapeno chiles....right, they called it "The Popper"!! $16 for a freakin' burger in a self serve cafeteria type "restaurant" is absurd by any standard. There was not the slightest hint of jalopeno flavor in it. In a town that has more hamburger joints than you can count, I don't see how an owner in a competive business like this really expects to survive inspite of some of the nice evaluations others have written. Good burgers, easy ordering, reasonable pricing if you combo your burger. First try at a Burger Dock and burgers are expensive a la carte (10.00 to $14.00) but reasonable if you go with the combo version (generous portion of delicious fries and all you can drink organic soft drinks machine or iced tea for an add of $4.50). We had a party of four and two people had the Old Tin Can, classic basic burger. I had the Fun Guy which was excellent with swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms and last diner had the Sunrise which feautured cheddar, avocado and an over easy egg. I especially appreciated the iced tea which was the same type as Paradise, which I used to love and miss seeing it anywhere. Service is comprised OF BRINGING YOU YOUR FOOD for which the card machine that you use when you order suggests a 15% or higher tip, which in retrospect seems a little silly. Space is nice and was clean. Our only issue was with the burger size which left a lot of the bun uncovered once the burger patty was consumed. Salads look good and nice selection of beers. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, greeting us cheerfully when we arrived and helping us decide which burgers to try. The burgers are delicious - a mix of standards and innovative combos - and everything is house made. Then there are the FRIES! Hand cut in-house, seasoned with something yummy, and served with house made fry sauce The chocolate shake is made with real ice cream and is very chocolatey. They also have delicious salads if you are interested is something lighter/healthier.
