She made it a point to tell us they were closing at 7pm and even gave us our food that I ordered 'for here' packed up 'to-go'. The food being packed up wasnt the real issue, but more so her un-friendly attitude when taking our order was what I thought was the issue. Also, as she was bringing in the furniture from outside she must have been eager to get off of work at 7pm sharp because she was hastily moving the tables and chairs in a loud, aggressive manner. The sweet focaccia was equally impressive, topped with brie, honey, and a guava jam made from her own garden-grown guavas... truly special. Next came the sweet potato course, made from her garden's harvest and paired with roasted pine nuts and coconut-shaved gnocchi in brown butter. The flavors were rich yet comforting, and the presentation was artistic and thoughtful. The main course... short ribs with a stunning potato gratin, was a showstopper. The short ribs were tender and deeply flavorful, garnished with delicate edible flowers from her garden, while the gratin was layered beautifully and topped with a fragrant chimichurri. Dessert was one of the best I've ever had: a sticky toffee date cake with a caramel apple sauce made from apples in her garden, served with raw cream vanilla bean ice cream. The balance of warmth, sweetness, and texture was perfection. The wine pairings, thoughtfully curated by Oscar from Sequoia Grove Winery, elevated the entire experience, from the velvety Merlot to the bold Cabernet, every sip complemented the food flawlessly. What makes Chef Stefanie so special is her warmth and authenticity. She shares her passion for food and where it comes from in a way that's engaging and educational, never pretentious. Communication is consistent and great, any issues I can directly communicate with someone and it will be handled right away. I am very happy with the service, and I love supporting as local as possible! I would definitely recommend to try if you are interested in a meal prep service and are local in their service area. The only one she loved is a little far out called LJ's, so I decided to gamble on District 36. I met the owners when they first opened, good people who know what they are doing. The next gen trailblazing the way for Little Saigon. Saw they added a breakfast burrito, so I called in a to-go order: sausage + bacon + avocado (Valentine's Day splurge ). Gamble paid off. She loved it. This isn't just another bacon-egg-cheese wrap pretending to be special. They use tater tots instead of regular potatoes, so you get crispy + soft instead of mush. The sausage is the real twist, Vietnamese style, like bún chả pork: slightly sweet, savory, garlicky, lightly caramelized. Then the surprise: pickled veggies inside. That acidity cuts the richness and balances the whole burrito so it eats lighter than a typical gut-bomb breakfast burrito. It ends up tasting like a true Viet-American diner take on a SoCal classic, comforting but aromatic, familiar and sooo goood. Nice to finally have a worthy breakfast burrito option closer to home.
