This was alright, I appreciated the horseradish and the tenderness of the beef. I got it with a side Caesar salad, and that was just bagged flavorless BS. When we are in the market for wings, there aren't too too many options. We like to try to support local places over blatant chains, but I don't know if I can justify coming back.

Located at 110 S. Main Street in downtown Elizabethtown, Social takes the food-court idea and gives it a serious upgrade. Instead of everybody in your group having to agree on one restaurant, there are multiple kitchens under the same roof. Currently that includes Maillard Wood Fired Kitchen for Neo-Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, StrEAT Kitchen for smash burgers and other street-food-style dishes, and Wasabi Bistro for made-to-order Japanese food. We've already tried Maillard's Italian Meats pizza and a bacon smash burger with Parmesan fries from StrEAT, and both were fantastic. So the hardest part may be deciding which direction to walk when you get hungry. But the thing that surprised me was everything else inside. There's a full bar and self-pour tap wall, plus duckpin bowling, pool upstairs, arcade games and pinball machines. And we're not talking about only new arcade games either. I spotted some real old-school machines, including NBA Jam, Fisherman's Bait and Track & Field. If you grew up feeding quarters into arcade machines, you may forget you originally came here to eat. The building itself is really cool too. It's a big open industrial-style space with high ceilings, exposed brick and plenty of different seating--from regular tables and long communal tables to more comfortable lounge-style areas. There's enough going on that a family or group could easily make an afternoon or evening out of it rather than just eating and leaving. I also like the concept because everybody doesn't have to want the same thing. Somebody wants wood-fired pizza? Done. Somebody wants a smash burger? Done. Somebody else wants Japanese? They've got that too. Then everyone meets back at the same table. That's a pretty smart setup. And based on our visit, the atmosphere was peaceful and enjoyable and the service we received was awesome. We never felt rushed, and it was the kind of place where you could hang around after eating instead of immediately heading for the door. Social Food Hall gets from us. Come hungry, bring some friends, and give yourself some extra time. You may go in planning to eat a pizza or burger and come out having eaten both, played NBA Jam, gone bowling and somehow lost half your afternoon. That's not a bad way to spend a day.

The burger comes on a large, Hawaiian bread type bun which holds up well with all that's going on in between the bun. The sauce they use is very flavorful with the pickles, cheese, and lettuce enhancing the taste of the burger. I highly recommend. Hubby got the American Smash and really enjoyed his as well. They did. I had a smash burger with bacon, and this thing was fantastic. If you've never had a true smash burger, the idea is pretty simple: the beef is smashed thin against a hot cooking surface, creating those crispy, browned edges while keeping plenty of flavor in the meat. StrEAT's regular smash burgers actually use two all-beef patties on a toasted Martin's potato roll. Add melted cheese and bacon, put all of that on a soft potato bun, and you've got the kind of burger where nobody at the table is doing much talking for the first few minutes. Then there were the fries with Parmesan cheese. These weren't an afterthought--the fries were fantastic too. Crispy, seasoned, covered with Parmesan, and dangerously easy to keep eating even after you've already decided you're full. StrEAT also offers tallow fries and tots among its side choices, along with some seriously loaded variations. Another cool thing about StrEAT Kitchen is that it's inside Social Food Hall at 110 S. Main Street in downtown Elizabethtown. That explains why the atmosphere felt so similar to Maillard and they're part of the same food-hall setting. So if one person wants a wood-fired pizza and somebody else wants a smash burger, you don't have to hold a family meeting to decide where everybody is eating. We completely understand that a preferred table may not be available immediately, and we are always more than willing to wait. Unfortunately, our request was initially met by the hostess with an extremely rude and dismissive attitude. She acted as though accommodating my dad's request was unreasonable or impossible, despite us making it clear that we were happy to wait. Her behavior was disappointing and lacked compassion for someone with an invisible disability. After speaking with the manager and explaining that we were willing to wait for a suitable table, they were able to accommodate us without issue. This made it clear that the request was not unfeasible--it simply needed to be handled with a little understanding. To make matters worse, once we were seated, the hostess threw the menus onto the table and walked away without saying anything. It felt disrespectful and unnecessary, especially considering the circumstances. My hope is simply that staff receive more education about invisible disabilities and the challenges many veterans face after their service. A little kindness, patience, and empathy can make a significant difference for guests living with conditions that aren't always visible.
