When you leave wishing you'd had fast food from a drive through instead, you know it's not good... I was attracted by the look of the novelty wings and a smash burger - both things our family likes. But this place had a few operational issues before we even ate. The front, as you enter from the parking lo makes it look like it's not even open - we spotted the small sign on the inside of the dark tinted window that says to go around the back. Bit strange, but we did, only to be met by a door that either sticks or is a constant wind trap. Their staff struggle with it each time, and we'd see guests fight with it as we sat outside and ate. That's a real problem for anyone young, old, or with something in one hand. It became such a joke our kids wanted to compete to see who could open it the fastest. We were brought a full order, and some sides that belonged to other tables before we ordered. Just some simple in-house / back-of-house confusion, but there were only three tables outside eating, and two inside placing orders - so there's clearly some issues internally where they don't know who they are serving, or where their tables are. Glad we didn't go on a busy night. None of that matters much though, but here's the part that frustrates me, the food is avergae at best. Nothng delicious, or high quality. Yet the tourist-trap prices made me feel taken advantage of. The classic smash burgers were on par with standard fast-food drive through places. Actually way inferior to one specific fast food that is known for making smashburgers, with "back" in their name. The mushroom appetizer was kinda sad for the price, and the nashville hot chicken sandwich was a dry, solid chicken puck that has definitely arrived on a Cisco truck, dosed in a sweet sauce with tabasco mixed in. Again, fast food spots have better spicy chicken sandwiches than this, for a fraction of the cost. We come out to eat as a family to enjoy a level above fast food, so it's annoying to fall so far short. $140 for 4 burgers, one app, and a wing platter - which is outrageously priced, tony portions, and the novelty factor frankly isn't worth it, because they're objectively just not that tasty anyway. They got me, I saw the photo of the wing sampler and thought the kiddos would like it. I left wishing we'd gone to McFastFoods instead for a tastier meal at a fraction of the price. If this place survives, I'll be genuinely shocked. Sad. read more

I guess I just wasn't overly impressed with the food, but nothing was really wrong with it either. Atmosphere was pretty decent, given off beach bar vibes. The Location For starters, the Laketown Wharf is a cool place, the inside bar was nice and the outside patio seating are had a decent view of the private lake. They had decent music playing inside and out, and inside they had all the typical bar-type games like billiards and darts. Looks like a cool hangout spot. There was a frat party going on the day we went and it looked like they were having a blast. Definitely somewhere I would go if I was with a group of friends. The Food The burger was good. I forgot to take a picture until after I took my first bites. It's a good burger. Good flavor, decent size, overall it's better than something I could make at home. The bread was delicious, it was indeed a good bun. The meat was well season and properly smashed. I also ordered chicken wings and got a mix of buffalo/garlic-parm and bbq. The bbq flavored was good. They weren't too small, though bigger wings would've been nice. Great flavor and well cooked. Exactly what I expect in wings. The Service Service was standard, hopefully what you'd expect from a server. Nothing over the top, and certainly not under, it was just right. The server came out about as much as we needed her to. Another man, possibly a manager or supervisor also came out to see if we were satisfied with the food, which was nice. Conclusion Will definitely return on my next vacation to PCB. We enjoyed it. Incredible food! Usually when I'm in PCB my biggest complaint is that it's hard to find good food, but the Bun Lab is breaks that stereotype. Best burgers in town! Honestly... maybe the best burgers I've ever had. Wagyu beef, smash burgers. Big portions. They come with fries, yam fries, or onion rings. You can also sub a salad as the side for a small up charge & their salads are GOOD! The onion rings are phenomenal as well. Everything I've tried has been good! The lab fries with bacon, the wings, the cali-pop bites... oh man!! Out of this world. Reasonably priced and it's BIG portions too, you're probably gonna need a to go box! Excellent drinks as well. Highly suggest the Lab Lemonade. It's a lavender, fresh house made lemonade with vodka. It's chilly and refreshing, a little sweet, a little sour and it hits the spot! The ambiance is incredible. Edison bulbs strung above the dining room, beautiful wood bar, bar stools that look like tree stumps, it's a place you feel cozy and want to stay a while. You can also play darts or pool. Great mix of music too. There's something for everyone. Service is awesome! Friendly people who want to take good care of you. I tried The Bun Lab back in October and had a great experience. Went tonight and had a horrible experience. Service was not great, but I can overlook this, until I got the bill. $72 before tip for 2 burgers, 2 fries, 2 side salads, 1 glass of Happy Hour wine and a soda! They advertise a Burger, fries and drink special for $12. Either my husband didn't get that or our server didn't enter anything right. Did not provide an itemized receipt either. We will not be back and will now remove this restaurant from our recommendations to our guests. Could have gone to a higher end restaurant for this price. With tip, we paid $91. Wait staff was mediocre at best and the cook refused to read the request on the tickets for the wait staff and everything was served incorrectly, including cheese on a smash burger that we sent back that he scraped off of and re-delivered it. absolutely terrible! If you have food allergies do not waste your time! Went there many times when they were under gunners and did not experience this problem. Not sure why they changed their name, but they need to reevaluate their staff. For being part of Laketown wharf, absolute disappointment. read more
