If you're looking for authentic Cajun and Creole food, this place absolutely delivers! The food was incredible from start to finish, but what really made the experience stand out was our waitress. Rhiannon (I hope I spelled it right) had a huge personality, was genuinely friendly, and made us feel welcome the entire time. Great service like that is hard to find. I'm a big fan of Creole food, and the Shrimp Pontchartrain was outstanding--packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. And don't even think about leaving without trying the bread pudding. I was wanting Cajun for dinner and suggested the place that everyone goes to and my wife isn't a fan. I found Big Easy here on Yelp and wanted to try it. When you walk in you feel like you're in the French Quarter. Subdued lighting just takes me to NOLA Everything we had was excellent and sorry I forgot pictures. We had the flight of deviled eggs and the boom boom shrimp for an appetizers. The deviled eggs were an excellent choice and for the boom boom shrimp they were cooked perfectly. Not at all rubbery. For entrees my wife had the Shrimp Ponchartrain and it was excellent. It is very rich in a heavy cream sauce. The shrimp were large and the andouille sausage gave it a nice smoky taste. I had the crawfish étouffée and it was very good. I'm used to it being made with a darker roux making it smokier but it was still very good. Our waitress was extremely attentive even as the place gets busy. If you're in PCB forget Dat other place and come here. read more

This Panama City Beach spot is such an unassuming place. You would miss it if you weren't actively seeking it out. Immediately delighted once entering. It has a dark, speakeasy like vibe. You can even dress up without feeling like you're on display. We had such a great meal! The chicken fried chicken was absolutely incredible. It was huge, perfectly cooked, and smothered in a rich, flavorful gravy that made every bite pure comfort food. If you're craving something indulgent, this is the dish to order. I also have to mention the meatloaf because it completely surprised us. Seriously, who even orders meatloaf at a restaurant? We did, and it ended up being one of the best things on the table. It was tender, packed with flavor, and tasted like an elevated homemade recipe. The Boom Boom Shrimp was another standout. The shrimp were large, fresh, and cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crispy coating and sauce. The portions were easily five star. We tried this place for the first time during dinner and were pleasantly surprised with everything. The inside has a nice ambiance and we were seated right away. Our server was attentive and gave good recommendations. We tried their boom boom shrimp appetizer, a couple of old fashioned drinks, and ordered their meatloaf entree and redfish and shrimp entree. Both come with ample vegetables and Cajun mashed potatoes. Everything tasted delicious and fresh. The vegetables were nicely seasoned and the shrimp and fish were great too. We weren't going to have dessert but our server recommended their Beignets with dipping sauces so we decided to try it. They were so good! I don't give out 1 star reviews lightly. Immediately after being seated, our server came to the table and said to me while pointing to my boyfriend, "Is he bothering you?"- an attempt at being funny I guess, didn't land well. There is no cocktail menu, we asked if they make espresso martinis, she said absolutely. What came was chocolate milk in a martini glass. I took one sip and had no interest in drinking it. She never asked how it was, seemingly never noticed the full cocktail that sat the rest of the meal. My boyfriend ordered the grouper entree and, because I wasn't very hungry and had read positive reviews, I ordered the flight of deviled eggs. Grouper entree was a large piece of grouper, covered with melted cheese over veggies and dirty rice. He said it was okay. I tried a bite- I would rate it 5/10. Nothing special. Deviled eggs: four "different" eggs that were all exactly the same just with a different topping. The Cajun seasoned one lacked any actual flavor, one had a large stale pork rind type thing stuck in it, one was a fried blob that tasted old, and the texture of the yolk mixture was weirdly pasty and had zero flavor. The eggs tasted old. These were horrible. I honestly do not know how anyone has recommended these- it's either a VERY off batch or people have never had actual good deviled eggs. Our server did not ever ask how the food was. When we were waiting for the bill, she came over and said "I'm sorry I've neglected you, that's unlike me." But then never asked if I needed anything, never refilled water, didn't ask how food was- just said that and walked away! Overall, the restaurant has a cute look to it, but the service and food were so bad I would never recommend it to anyone. As we paid and went to leave she said "please come back!" And we responded "nope" and she had already turned to leave the table but definitely heard us, turned around, but then kept walking. Note to server- maybe ask the customer how their food is...or if they leave an entire full drink- maybe ask if there was something wrong. Do yourself favor- try one of the many other amazing restaurants in PCB. Skip this one. read more

The boom boom shrimp and the boudin balls for starters were amazing. The key lime mojito was so smooth. We got redfish and flounder for dinner and they were amazing, the cheese grits were the best I've ever had. The big easy is absolutely incredible. We started with the deviled eggs and the barbecue shrimp. The deviled eggs are OK. I wouldn't say there's a lot of variety but very good. The barbecue shrimp are just as they should be. A true New Orleans favorite. My boyfriend had the ponchartain which was a lovely mix of chicken, shrimp and vegetables over rice. We started with deviled eggs Cajun style, the toppings were bay shrimp, bits of chicken, andouille sausage and crawfish(pre cooked and a bit rubbery). My husband ordered the shrimp etouffee served with rice and a roll. Not the roux he's had in New Orleans and a bit more tomatoey. The shrimp and grits were also good but different than any shrimp and grits I've ever eaten. The grits were a large patty and deep fried and tasty, and it was served on top of etouffee sauce with the shrimp, the etouffee had a little kick so keep that in mind. They also added a tasty roll on top. We ate there on a Monday and so there weren't many people there. The wait staff was attentive. Disappointed by the Hype - Won't Be Back We visited The Big Easy around 7:30 PM and were surprised to see the place only half full -- a red flag in a beach town during season. Our waiter was brand new, but he did his best and we had no issues with service. We started with the deviled eggs, which had a true Cajun flavor but were so overpowered by seasoning that you could barely tell they were eggs. For entrées, we ordered the redfish, which was completely smothered in a salty Cajun sauce that overwhelmed the entire dish. The crawfish tasted like it had been frozen -- dry and lacking any of the freshness you'd expect from a Gulf Coast restaurant. The biggest disappointment was the crawfish étouffée -- oddly made with breaded and fried crawfish. Who does that? It completely missed the mark on texture and authenticity. I understand it's not crawfish season, but if the ingredients aren't fresh, maybe take the dish off the menu and cook seasonally. Unfortunately, this was a miss across the board for us. Between the overly salty flavors and lack of fresh seafood, we won't be returning. read more

We are locals and eat out often. Just tried The Big Easy for the first time. It was outstanding! Great vibe, ambiance, decor and service. We had apps of the Cajun Deviled Eggs and Boom Boom shrimp; entrees were the redfish and shrimp, and crawfish étouffée. Desert was the bread pudding and it was delectable. Rhianna was our server and did an amazing job. Timing was perfect and she was extremely professional and friendly. We will definitely go back. This was our first time here. Very nicely decorated, classy not tacky French Quarter style. Our server, Natalia, was excellent! She explained the menu options and was very attentive. A perfect Cosmo, kudos to the bartender for making a quality, well balanced drink. The menu is small compared to other restaurants but the selection is great. We prefer a scaled down menu with the hope of well a executed meal. This place did not disappoint. The dishes look so appetizing and are beautifully plated. There were 4 of us. We ordered, appetizers, gumbo and the fried green tomatoes, and entrees shrimp and grits, cajun meatloaf and redfish and the best bread pudding we ever had. ( I would have rated 5 stars but the few shrimp on the redfish were over cooked. ) We will be back soon! Definitely a place to go and get away from the normal boring beach fare, a bit more "upscale" but still casual experience. The GM went around to the tables greeting people and asking how we were liking the food and atmosphere. It is appreciated when you can tell management is proud of the place they work.
