We arrived in Boston for a weekend of Boston Red Sox games. Since we arrived late, we didn't have tickets for the first night. We visited The Bullpen, which is connected within Fenway Park. However, if you don't have a game ticket, you must enter from the back alley entrance. We enjoyed a few reasonably priced beers, drinks, and fries. It was an incredible environment; especially when the game ended, and the fans began to filter in. There are several TVs and a huge big screen to watch the game. The service was very good. read more

Love coming here on game day! You can even enter after you scan your tickets into the game and the drinks are cheaper than the actual Fenway concessions, so I typically go in early to come here first. The atmosphere is very nostalgic and fun to see all the old Fenway decor. read more

Such a hidden spot that I don't think a lot of people know about. You can actually get in to Fenway through this bar. And you can leave and come back during the game if you want! One time it was a rain delay for the game and instead of sitting in the hot inside of Fenway we came here and got drinks (cheaper than in Fenway) and waited out the rain delay and then went back inside. 10/10 would suggest this. They serve bar food but we just typically get drinks. Such a cool spot to drink before, during or after the game! read more

I'm not at all familiar with the Fenway area but stopped in here before my first Sox game. While it was busy and a little crowded, the bar line moved quickly, bartenders friendly and crowd was fun. The convenience of using the bar to enter/exit the park is very convenient. read more

Quiet place on a Monday night baseball game. Went in for a light lager. Picked the Samuel Adams Wicked Easy Lager, like it stated on their chalk board menu but it clearly was a Hazy Session IPA. Bartender then said it was an Ale. What a joke... But he give me a replacement beer after paying for the IPA. Very limited beer menu. Spacious downstairs area but they closed the street entrance because premium seat holders block off the whole street until 90mins before the game starts. Interesting... Could have left through the back alley but had to make a big circle to enter back where we needed to. read more

Has to be the best place to pregame a Red Sox game... no competition.

We got to Fenway a couple of hours before game time and found our way here for a few drinks. We didn't realize that they shut down Jersey Street to only those with a baseball ticket, but The Bullpen has it's own entrance onto Jersey Street, so avoid the main gate crowds and come here to enter the game. read more

Bullpen clarified a situation and was very quick to respond to a concern I had related to using their entrance to get into the park and the treatment I received from Fenway staff. The issue was not with BullPen it had to do with the Fenway Park staff and the fact that my ticket was a student ticket. With that being said if you have a student ticket just be aware you more than likely will not be able to use this as an entrance to Fenway (Fenway related , nothing to do with Bullpen ) . Despite this minor detail that Bullpen so kindly clarified , I would highly recommend this place. In the short time I have been in Boston it's been one of my favorite places to go before and during the game. read more

Great pregame spot! Larger and less crowded than Bleacher Bar. Staff were incredibly friendly. Lots of drink of options for an affordable price. You can enter the ballpark / get your ticket scanned at the back door of the bar which was super helpful on a busy ALCS game day! Head down the alleyway at 110 Brookline Ave to find it. read more

I may never attend a game at Fenway without a visit to the Bullpen ever again, though admittedly, I would prefer to go with a friend. Yes, I had given my friend a head's up, but when we headed down a literal alley off Brookline Avenue, he may have began wondering just where I was taking him. But when you turn the corner, there is the oasis that the Bullpen's patio of Adirondack chairs and palm trees where patrons may light up if they like. Inside is a spacious bar with various seating (high chairs at high tops as well as picnic tables) and high industrial ceilings. And in a corner, marked brightly with a huge Boston Red Sox emblem, is their ticketed exit to Jersey Street (previously Yawkey Way), right by the entrance to the Red Sox Team Store. Yes, they'll scan your ticket. Yes, they'll check and tag your bag. But there your game ticket is your passport between Fenway and the Bullpen, and it is a nice option to have. PS - there is no smoking at Fenway (this includes Jersey Street), so smokers may also appreciate this access to the Bullpen's smoking area. read more

A group of 12 and I traveled to Fenway yesterday for a Red Sox game. Before the game, we decided to stop here around 5:30 PM for a quick drink and some food. Me and 3 other people went up to the bar inside and tried to order drinks but were met with the nastiest bartender I have ever met. She refused to serve my friend because his ID was peeling a little at the corner. This would have been no big deal, as I know that peeling ID's are denied sometimes, if she had not gone off on a rant when being questioned very politely why his ID was invalid (he had never ran into this problem before) She claimed that "REAL ID's DO NOT PEEL" and had very clearly told us that it was HER bar and that she would have our entire groups tickets revoked if my friend didn't shut up. Trust me when I say that this woman went on a power trip for a good 5 minutes about it being HER bar all because my friend was calmly questioning why she was refusing to serve him. She also refused to accept a second form of ID from my friend, but took a second form no problem from my boyfriend who has a New York ID (guess they've never seen a NY ID before...) She had then proceeded to walk outside to the "security" and tell them that my friend couldn't drink and if he did we would all get kicked out. That "security" watched my group like a hawk for the entire hour we were there. Not to be that person, but my friend was not white. I hope that his race didn't influence her rage but with the refusal of service and refusal to accept a second form of ID from only him? Seems racist to me. Do better. read more

Really just a huge rip off. A limited selection of pretty boring beer. I would describe the food as what you would find at like a camp or community center barbecue, you don't really mind it isn't great because you only paid $2.50 for it. Only I didn't pay $2.50, it was $16 for a crappy frozen burger and a bag of utz chips. Literally one of those small bags you get in a bulk variety pack. To top it off the first bartender I spoke with was pretty rude. You'd be better off going to The Kenmore or McDonald's or just nibbling on the sleeve of your shirt. read more

The Bullpen is the gateway drug to Fenway Park. Great staff, cold beers plus they have a smoking section. If you enter Fenway Park by using the Bullpen Entrance you can the leave the Park as many times as you want. As long as you exit thru the Bullpen. Stopped in before a Sox game. It has its own entrance into Fenway so that was super easy. We had a few beers - $7 for a Bud Light. You can go in and out from the game so I imagine it's packed during rain delays. Overall a nice spot for a pre or post game beer. read more

There are some ignorant reviews about this place below. First, they do serve food (unlike what one reviewers post indicated below)....it's standard pub grub, but done very well.....and the have a full bar with lots of beers on tap. Second, ive never noticed any terrible smell in there. The other reviewer must have an overly sensitive nose. This is a great place to pick up some drinks and food at a reasonable price before heading into the park.....and without all of the overly drunk rif raf that "Whos on First" used to attract. A GREAT FENWAY/BOSTON BAR!!!! Incredibly friendly staff with Bartenders that know how to make a drink. They even have a "patio area" located in what must be one of the cleanest alleys in Boston. If you are in from out of town you need to check out this place. Great local color. read more

You don't need a ticket to get in you just need to follow the people on the street telling you to go to the Bullpen! Huge TVs, huge open space with tables, multiple bars, it's the perfect spot before, after or during a game. We love the bullpen ! It's a nice place to grab a drink before a Sox game. They have food, good seating, TVs, and 2 bars. They also have an outdoor seating area in the back. My only complaint would be not very many food options, but that's probably because it's mainly a bar. It's a great spot to eat and drink before the game because once you get into Fenway, the lines are long and the prices are outrageous. We come to the bullpen every time we come to the Sox! read more

Went here today before the Atlanta Braves game. Place was amazing. Staff was super nice, food was great, drinks were cheap compared to other bars in the neighborhood and MUCH cheaper than Fenway's. I'll definitely be back before all the concerts this summer. read more
