The Bend Bulletin used to be good but not anymore. They recently took $117 out of my account to renew their online subscription which I did not sign up for. They are terrible and refuse to reimburse me even though I now have no access. I cannot recommend this business in any way. I'm not sure who they were bought out by but when Chandler ran the paper, it was never this bad. read more

The Bulletin's endorsements for the 2022 city elections are not what I expected or in keeping with the majority of local citizen's preferences and their published reasons for the endorsements are lame. Okay not to be a drag but would give our Bend Bulletin experience a YELP'ing zero stars based on lack of content and customer service, but at least it's a newspaper that's printed locally with non-eco friendly equipment and chemicals and non-eco friendly delivery by car. Not sure why we've been a part of this other than we like it and have tried to support our local paper and the jobs it provides. I also came out of this industry so I know just how large of a footprint this newspaper leaves but newspapers have been an important part of our country and our city of Bend. For over 30 years we have enjoyed our reading of the paper at breakfast ritual which has included delivery in NYC, SF, LA, Portland and Bend. Of course we can now get the Bulletin online but we can also get our news other ways as well. The current Bulletin delivery many days has seen the paper so thin, just a couple of pages, the delivery person can't ever get it close to our home and it just blows away. Content is slim but okay, we don't expect much, and had hoped to see more interesting local real reporting which has been and is lacking, maybe the new owners will make some improvements... However, with our recent significant $128.40 price increase to $364 a year for delivery, well it is hard to justify our routine any further. Today after enduring being on hold for 45 minutes we called and asked how they can justify this increase or what improvements are coming our way to have us remain subscribers, they could give no reason or justification other than saying new owners have changed things, yes the have. Our call ended with us canceling our subscription and delivery (since 1998) and were offered no reason to stay or incentive to go digital. OKAY Yelp'sters I know many of you are well informed and totally digital and have no need for a newspaper which really makes sense, we will now join you but not with the Bulletin. Been taking the Bulletin for almost 17 years. Not a bad paper and for this first 15 years delivery was reliable. Now we probably get 5 or 6 missed deliveries per month. Service is pathetic. read more

BEND BULLETIN, Bend Oregon. ARGGGGGHHHHH. We like to read our morning newspaper. We look forward to it with our coffee and breakfast. We get local news, ignore their slanted-right editorial news, and get a round up of state news. We mark articles to read with our trusty felt tips, clip out articles and send them to family and friends. We read the comics. And we realize we are unique, in that we still like old fashion newsprint, in our hands, but we do. We have subscribed to our local Bend Bulletin, in Bend,Oregon for 20 years now. Newspapers these days, are struggling to keep subscribers & add new ones. Our local paper the Bend Bulletin is one of them. They have raised rates, cut the size, relegated Monday's paper to cover JUST sports and the front section, and we still hung with them. But starting this past winter we have wondered if they no longer want subscribers? Are they actively trying to drive readers away? We live in a rural area, our newspaper box is 1/2 mile from our house, we drive to retrieve our paper. This winter the snow was fierce and deep and papers were not delivered, regularly. We understood. The weather cleared and our delivery service continued to get worse. The hubby called, politely and asked when things would improve. Soon he was told, we just need to hire a carrier for your route. Okay. We were patient. But our delivery has continued to be spotty, all Spring & Summer. Hubby called-repeatedly, talked to several people in the Circulation Department, all assured him the problem would be fixed. After weeks of problems he went down to the paper and talked personally to them. After each cordial conversation he was assured the problem would be fixed. Last week they DID NOT DELIVER papers on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Wednesday was especially aggravating as we received no Wed. paper but they did deliver the past Sunday paper! If the Bend Bulletin newspaper, in Bend Oregon wants to continue to be in business it might want to fix how papers are delivered to subscribers. Please share. (Or Pope Michael) for that matter. When the new owners took over, the paper was to be 20 pages, not the 12 it became. Wish there was a zero star option. Delivery is very poor. Often do not receive paper at all. Call and usually long wait listening to music. Sometimes they bring paper late, sometimes deliver with the next day's paper and often just don't get paper at all. Paper is usually just dropped on edge of street when a simple wrist flick would get it nearer the house. Always kind and apologetic when you get through. My guess is they just don't pay enough to get reliable delivery people (they always point out, like it matters, that the delivery people are "independent contractors") As well paper has been drastically reduced in size. Now one page is a coloring book for kids. Syndicated columnists have been cut way back.This is a paper in it's death throes. Time to give up and just use the computer for news. read more

The Bend Bulletin is the WORST most DISORGANIZED company to deal with EVER! My company had been advertising with the Bulletin since 2005, they used to be so much better but over the past year and a half they have tanked ... beyond tanked. Over 6 months after selling my business and moving on from everything they are still calling me to collect money from me! Right before I sold my business I called to make sure that my account was all squared away and that my credit card was removed so that I would not continue to be charged ... my account rep assured me everything was paid and that we were all good. If we had done any further advertising after I had removed my card then you would expect to receive an invoice (mailed to the office) for each month after showing each charge ... nothing. So silly me I assume all is good. One month after the sale of the business is complete and everyone is going about their business I receive a call from a gentlemen there claiming that we owe them $2500 in advertising costs that are late and since he had a fishing trip to get to he was hoping I could just pay that and he could be on his way. Well of course I told him that that couldn't be accurate because we were assured that our accounts were paid in full and had not received any bills stating otherwise. I also requested the invoices in question. I was honestly concerned that this was some sort of scam the guy was so incredibly unprofessional. I then proceeded to call our account rep and tell her what was going on. She assured me that she would look into it and get back to me. Since that call I have not received and invoices or follow up calls from anyone at The Bulletin, until today ... OVER 6 MONTHS LATER! They all neglected the account (which adds up to an additional $200+ in late charges). The lady who called me today did send me the invoices within 15 mins of speaking to her and talk about convoluted! One of the line items is my name with $198 charge!? What the what? I don't know what half of the charges on the invoices is because it is such a mess. I have already had to go to what they call "the morgue" (the room where they keep every past addition in hard copy) there before to show them where we were overcharged on our account in the past. At this point I should be on payroll for all the work I have had to/will have to do to make this all right. Oh, and to boot they are still delivering a huge stack of Real Estate papers to us even after I have called multiple times to tell them we don't want/need them. Enjoy reading the newspaper, digital versions just don't cut it for me on a tablet. BUT.....there seems to be a mega problem in getting it delivered to my house in Redmond. Especially over the last 3 to 4 months. When I call, I get a nice response about new carriers, etc, and that it will get fixed. As an example, called yesterday with no paper, and ended up with it delivered later in the day. Expected to have one as I walked down the driveway this am, but alas....you guessed it no paper. Got a call back from an email I sent earlier today, and the response was that the carriers were independent contractors and the Bulletin has no control over them. What a great way to continue to kill off the print news media locally, as well as your own business. Wonder if their paid advertisers know the paper is not being delivered to longtime subscribers. Tough to keep circulation numbers up, when you can't get it to them. read more

I love the content of this small newspaper . It is a great blend of local, state and national news. I also like all the special features that are featured...events, recipes, seasonal activities, health information, etc. My only complaint is that our home delivery service has not been entirely dependable. I understand heavy snow but not personal issues. I would expect the paper to have an alternative-such as someone to deliver when the carrier has an issue. However, we very recently missed three days in a row and didn't get our papers at all. read more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ! Did not receive papers Sunday, April 1st and Monday, April 2nd. I called and was assured I would receive my papers and also received and e-mail from The Bulletin stating: "Attention Subscriber, Your newspaper route did go down today we will get Sunday's edition delivered with Monday's edition. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to have your delivery back on schedule by tomorrow." Unfortunately I did not receive any delivery Monday. Wednesday morning, April 4th I called at 6 a.m., got a recording saying the current wait time was 1 hour but I was the first caller. 20 minutes later a lady answered, I believe her name was Dorinda, she said there was a carrier issue but she would bundle the 2 missed issues for me and make sure they were delivered. It is now Saturday, April 7th, 6:20 a.m. and the missing issues have not been received! read more

This is a great local paper......when you get it delivered. I can deal with a paper not being delivered, but the customer service is a joke. I attempted several times to correct a billing problem, but the woman who has taken my calls has an attitude that is not worth dealing with. I signed up for automatic payment for my subscription from my bank account. This month they took the payment out TWICE ! I have called them FIVE times but can never talk to the person who they say is the only one that can rectify this - she is never in her office - I have left her messages and asked her to call me but she never does. I even drove down to the offices and could only talk to the receptionist who was very pleasant and could understand my anger - but guess what - the person who might be able to help me was just not there! In our area home delivery service has been unreliable. The home delivery drivers are "private contractors and not employees of the "Bulletin". Crummy excuse for poor service. Doesn't The Bulletin care about keeping its implied commitment to "paying" customers? In the eyes of the public the delivery drivers are the Bulletin. The circulation department is of little help although they are nice and polite. When you don't get your daily paper and call in they offer have it delivered tomorrow. Yup today's news tomorrow. The paper itself is a decent newspaper, it's too bad that the delivery service is the most horrible delivery service on the face of the planet. And customer service in their circulation department is just as bad! Over and over again, we did not receive a newspaper, every time I called, the answer was, "Can I put you on hold so I can call the carrier?" Each time, the person in circulation would get on the line and say, "Oh sorry, I can't get hold of your carrier." (Surprise, surprise!) "I'll just have to add the cost of today's paper on to your subscription." Then do we get a paper next week?? Nope!!!! So every week I would call, the carrier would deliver apparently whenever she felt like delivering, which was almost never! And anytime I made a complaint, the answer was, "Well, there's not really anything we can do about it, since the carriers are contracted through a different company and The Bend Bulletin is not really their employer!! So basically, the non existent service, Sorry you just have to pay to never receive a paper, is what they are saying, "please pay us money for nothing!" I called and spoke with 4 separate people, none of which ever looked into the situation and never did anything about it. Then when my husband called to stop our service and he told the person in circulation why, there was no, "Oh gosh, I am so sorry, is there anything we can do to correct this situation for you?" Wouldn't that be a typical response if the company actually wants to please a customer??? Well, not at Bend Bulletin!! The guy just said, "Ok, i'll Put in for refund in your card, you will receive the money back in 3-5 business days!! No trying of any kind to keep us as customers, because they literally do NOT CARE at all!! My husband went outside and pulled up the stake with the paper box on it out of the ground, and promptly left it with the garbage service. The garbage service who actually picks up your garbage when you pay them to do so!!! We will never ever use them ever again!!!! I have never been so disgusted by s bunch of people who don't care in my entire life!!! The Bend Bulletin's slogan should be, " Please pay us for bad attitudes and no papers! I've subscribed to The Bend Bulletin for the past 4 years as a non-resident in order to provide me with an effective way to stay connected to local business and government. The paper and it's online version has offered consistent reporting while keeping a local vibe. While I would like to see increased local coverage in all sections of the paper, I think the paper provides a valuable account of Central OR happenings. read more

They have all this free stuff with people at the entrance to stores (Fred Meyer, Safeway etc) that offer you the paper for a low month price and give you gift cards....beware folks....this is for a minimum of 2 months (even though the guy at the kiosk said you could cancel anytime). that old adage....if it sounds to good to be true...it probably is....well this is it, it sounded great, but was mis-represented at the kiosk, so even though I don't want the stupid paper (which is terrible by the way) I have to pay for it for another month....BEWARE ...DO NOT FALL FOR IT, ITS TERRIBLE ANYWAY read more

I have gotten the Sunday paper for about a year now, find we dont get a chance to read it. Have called 4 times to cancel, all you get is voice mail. Never a return call. Then Sunday....theres the paper again. I called the main office instead of distribution thinking that would help. Not a chance, told me someone would call me that day...nope. So going to try one more time. Maybe if I just dont pay my next bill they will cancel it. But I dont like doing that. We leave on vacation for 2 months and dont want my papers piling up.
