I have in the last 2 months visited 3 times in search of river rocks that would be large enough and not break my bank! I found at the Bulk Yard not only nice sized rocks but friendly employees and help us at a great price! I wandered around the store ( they have a great store for BBQ's and the yard is filled with all kinds of interesting yard material. Absolutely love the bulk yard! I renovated my backyard and as a result needed a whole lot of rocks. I was buying bags at Lowe's which was both expensive and time consuming. A friend recommended the bulk yard. They had quite a few different rocks to choose from. As a rock hounder, I really liked the natural rock. I got a few truck loads full and was able to complete my backyard and save money. Staff was friendly and helped me get an appropriate weight of rocks each time that wouldn't snap my axle on my truck. read more

I would NEVER do business with organization again. Terrible customer service experience from the manager. The most unprofessional manager I have ever spoken too. They shorted me on product, when I tried to resolve the issue, the manager thought it would be ok to raise his voice at me and say that everyone else was wrong except him and his company. I was shorted a whole yard of material and it clearly showed when I received the same amount of product from a different company who properly showed how much product we were receiving. I showed clear evidence they shorted me and he had a terrible attitude about it. I have never seen or heard such terrible behavior from a manager. I would recommend to go anywhere than here, they don't know how to solve problems properly and professionally. Some of their product is not up to par you can get better pricing and quality at Home Depot or anywhere else. Highly recommend to not deal with a business who treats their customers so poorly. Their workers were nice and professional but the manager was absolutely appalling. I was extremely disappointed that a professional man could raise his voice to a woman like that. read more

I have been purchasing from the Bulk Yard for over 20 years, now. They have great service and good prices on bulk landscaping.

So this is my second time here the first was to bring my son to see what smoker he was contemplating on for his Bday....they informed us that the new Green Mountain daniel boone prime plus was on order and the last prime they had was already spoken for so I put my name on the waiting list and off we went...lol my son literally asked me every day "did they call? did they call?" No child they didn't i'm sure they will soon....then today Jacob called and said well the guy never showed for the one last prime and i said ok i'll take it!! Off i went super nice people here and they had the pellets he asked me to get so another plus. I paid and went on with the rest of my busy day and within the hour he called and said ok were delivering it now if it's ok ummmm yes!!! Then i thought oh crap i'm not home my son is and the freakin house is a MESS!!! Hahhahaha oh well Tina Sh*t happens clean the house later and make your sons day with his smoker!!!! So sorry for the messy house guys :).... I really wanted to like this place, and I did at first. I got a nice smoker from here. I went in seven days ago, from the date of this review and purchased bird bath brine. It was $9.95. I went in seven days later to purchase another bag, the price shot up to $15.95. I don't believe in this type of price gouging especially during the holidays, Thanksgiving 2020, and during a time when people are having to watch their pocket books during this pandemic. When it comes to soil, compost, or any other ground covering, I come to The Bulk Yard. Don't even bother going to the big box stores and buying your garden soil. On this particular day we needed some green compost to add to our garden soil. Other stores charge anywhere between $15 and $20 for an 8 gallon bag. We were able to get an entire truck bed full for $20 even. The quality even beats that of the bagged stuff. Any kind of bulk items you need, The Bulk Yard has. Even crushed granite and pavers - just about everything is here. It's pretty convenient off Rosedale Highway - just turn in to the left of Casa Mexico and head on back to the sales office. The only issue may be if you don't have access to a pickup truck....HA! Nevermind - you're in Bakersfield. What was I thinking... read more

The helpful staff helped me figure out what I needed and then helped me figure how much. I had a dump truck full of garden soil (their own special mix) delivered, as well has a truckload of gravel. There products are great and there delivery driver was top notch. My only complaint is with the person I dealt with over the phone when I ordered 9 yards of forest humus. Brandy acted like she was doing me a huge favor to take my order and was very put out when I had questions about a previous order. Maybe it was a stressful day or something but as a business owner myself I know that customers are the life blood of any business and when you treat them like they are an annoyance to be dealt with that is never good.
