We were at the county fair checking out their booth. Who couldn't use a nice hot tub right? Especially since our friends had bought from them. BIG mistake. It was pretty hot out that day and of course there were lines for some attractions. There were some elderly folks waiting in line and visibly very fatigued by the sun. What did these salespeople do? Flipped their unused chairs to make sure nobody sat in them. Kindness and compassion goes a LONG way. These people sat there, not doing a darn thing to engage the public mind you, smug that they hadn't let anyone take a little break. It perhaps had to do with the fact these people didn't look like them? Who knows but what a horrible first impression. We need LESS of this in the world. Look at their other reviews and the responses from this Claudia person, they clearly are right fighters preferring to argue than demonstrate good marketing and customer service comprehension. I gave them three stars because I called about getting a part for the hot tub I purchased from them less than a year ago. The pump motor quit working So I called up looking for parts and they told me they don't sell parts but they'll sell me a new pump motor. I went to the Amazon website and purchased a 50 MF Round capacitor for $17 I removed the two screws On top of the pump motor revealing the housing for the capacitor I removed the two wires going to the capacitor, discharged it by bridging the terminals with a screwdriver and then installed my $17 Capacitor. turned the power back on and the repair was complete. They knew this. They are in the business for crying out loud. read more

The process was pretty easy and with the model that we decided on, maintenance is a cinch. The saltwater system that we added on is fantastic and really helps with my sensitive skin. my son gifted his hot tub to us he had purchased a year prior from Hot tubs plus. he is out of the area so wanted to ensure the move and setup to our home went without a hitch. because of this he did not hire random movers but went to the company he originally purchased the Hotub to ensure the process was easy and fluid. It was more expensive but worth not having to hassle with an unknown. They sold the hot tub, they installed and set it up for him. He desired the same experience for us. Now, why the one star? Installers were late arriving to our home. Installers filled the tub, added a small amount of chlorine(they said) without the pump running. They did not add the startup packs or any other chemical. They would not modify the electrical outlet cover plate as they did at my sons. They said they could not. It is a small cut out of plastic at the bottom to allow the larger plug to fit. They left us with a plastic tub full of water and no chemical. We paid $750 for the move, $150 for the startup. We complained and they refunded $50. My son when he arrived 3 days later modified(cut an opening) in the electrical box, plugged it in. Tested when it was at temp, no chlorine present, other parameters were not near normal. He PH shocked the tank and added the necessary minerals. It is in parameters and operational. We will be able to use it for the first time tonight. 5 days after the "professional Local dealer install". Escalating to Claudia at the local branch was fruitless. She said they could not modify the plug as it was different than my sons. It was not. We would have had a better review if we hired laborors from the Home Depot parking lot. Less expectations = better results. read more

First off, I've had great service when we went into Hot Tubs Plus to make a purchase for parts. When it took months to get the parts, we had already paid for, we were wondering what was wrong. Finally once we received the parts we inquired about a service to have the parts installed, which they had us message them with picture to setup the work order. With an astronomical service fee of $150, which didn't go far, they ended up only getting a shawty 2/3 of the job done, for the less than 30 minute of work, to then be told it would be another $50 due to their mistakes to install a part we had already purchased and had ready for them to install. Next time don't ask for a text messages and pictures of what needs to be done and then not ask for clarification and set up some random not complete work order. I'm guessing we'll be finding a proper company, that doesn't charge an arm, a leg and a kidney, for services Hot Tubs Plus can't provide. read more

Almost as bad as Erik. The first time I called in explaining what I needed. My swim side of my swimspa working but my spa side wasn't. No power to the tp600 but there was power to the board. I gave them my serial and model also the part I needed to replace BP501G pack. Claudia said she called CalSpas and they wouldn't be able to give me a quote because they wouldn't know what board to quote. SMH. I can't understand why CalSpas the company that sold me the equipment wouldn't know every part installed in my swimspa that was OEM but ok roflmao. I said thanks and never called again. About a year later I called them back asked them for a quote to replace the board. She said that I should do a diagnostic first. The diagnostic was $150. I was almost sure it was the board however I decided to bring out an electrician first finding that the GFCI was fryed. We replaced the GFCI and the Spa side was working again. We decided to have there diagnostic team to come out and still check the entire swimspa. When they came out I decided to stay out with them to get answers and see any issues that they found. The tech seemed annoyed by my presence and questions.they found a jet gasket leak and pump leak and some other items such as bulb replacements and ozone pack replacements. Nothing big. I did mention that there are cracks on the side of the swimspa. The tech which I think is their son. Said that is from the sun. I challenged his comment saying it has been covered the entire time except when in use how can that be . He then didn't answer the question until I brought it up again. Shaking his head saying I don't know what to tell you but I've been doing this for years and it is from the sun. I asked why is it only on the SW side of the spa and not the entirely West side or south side. He said that possibly it is closer to the sun and gets more sun exposure. I asked how is that possible when it is covered 100 percent of the time when not in use. He then said again it was from the sun. After research I found it's called micrcrazing and isn't a structural issue only cosmetic. This can be caused by chemicals used, heat, and the sun. Even if covered. If the tech only took the time to explain that instead of thinking I was trying to get free warranty work. Which BTW isn't covered by warranty. CalSpas only covers if your spa isn't holding water in the shell warranty. However, that didn't stop Claudia from telling me that they didn't sell the spa to me and I would have to call CalSpas directly to get it resolved. Which would have been a complete waste of my time and effort. So back to the diagnostic they came back stating that the price for the minor issues would be about 3 Grand. The work IMHO didn't warrant that cost. The quote showed tax charges on a labor 3 hours labor for less than an hours worth of work. They wanted to replace a barely leaking pump with no rust on shaft, when it was a simply a leaking Volute O-Ring on the wetend. Even just replacing the whetend is cheaper and just as efficient. They say they couldn't find the part number on CalSpas which is true because it's a Waterways part number 805-0264. Seems like this would be something they should know. The tech said they couldn't replace the o-ring due to insurance reasons. I kind of died inside laughing. Anyways moral of the story is they are overpriced clowns and think they are the only game in town so they charge what they want. $150 diagnostic but $200 per hour labor seems odd. Think before you move forward unless you don't care how much money you're spending. read more

We decided to go to the Kern County Fair specifically to look at hot tubs bc we were in the market for one. Hot Tubs Plus had an area at the fair with all of their spas set up. Kaitlyn was the sales rep that helped us. She answered all of our questions, was very kind and knowledgeable. The financing process was SO easy and quick. The delivery team was outstanding as well. They came on time, were clean in their set up and helped me understand how to operate our new spa! I just had the pleasure of going to the showroom to buy chemicals. The showroom is very nice with a large variety of chemicals and accessories. The staff was very helpful, in looking at a picture I took of the test strip and let me know what I needed to get the levels where they need to be. I also don't feel like they were trying to oversell, which I appreciate. Will definitely return for chemicals and would highly recommend purchasing a hot tubs from them!! read more

We have had a wonderful experience with Hot Tubs Plus. We purchased a Bullfrog hot tub via a Costco special event hosted by Hot Tubs Plus, and I don't know that we would have ever made the jump without Claudia and Dennis' help looking at where we would want it, and how we could get it there at a reasonable cost. Claudia helped us coordinate with someone to build a small deck to level it and multiple electricians to find the right one for us. Claudia kept us informed through every step when our tub would be manufactured and shipped. When it finally arrived, the install team was respectful of our property, quick to get it up and running, and very patient and thorough in showing us how to use and maintain it. We had a minor issue with a jet that required a repair and Claudia got it warrantied and had the repair team out to fix it within a week. We will continue to use Hot Tubs Plus for all future pool and spa needs. read more

They offer a discount on chemicals if you leave a review.  And of course they ask to see your review. That's awkward. And it makes me wonder what the reviews would look like if there wasn't this bribe in place. (I actually think the reviews would still be quite good, but they'd be more honest & informative about things.) Even though I do like this shop, I find that policy to be quite disingenuous. I bought my hot tub here. I had visited one other place, but preferred the brand options here as well as the helpful advice from the owners (Dennis & Claudia). I also appreciate Dennis' knowledge that he willingly shared, as I knew nothing about hot tubs. He was patient as I walked around, climbed in & out of hot tubs, and asked him all sorts of questions. He left me alone when I just wanted to explore; but he was also nearby when I needed to ask him more. We discussed the pros and cons of the many options, and which sort of options would best fit what I was looking for. My only regret (once I bought my hot tub) was that I hadn't tried out a hot tub with water in it (they were all empty/dry). Since I had never before been in a hot tub, I didn't realize that the buoyancy in water would make me feel different in the seat; and I especially didn't realize that the jets would cause me to levitate/float out of the seat. I based my brand selection on the comfort (angles) of the seats, but now that I realize it's *quite different* when water is in there I wonder if I would have chosen the same one. Purchasing was fine. Some signatures, and a hefty deposit on the credit card (I paid the remainder prior to delivery). They were extremely accommodating & communicative for delivery. The process was really seamless and painless. I also received the hot tub pretty quickly! Delivery folks were very respectful, kind, and patient.  They patiently waited until it was full, and made sure everything worked properly. They walked me through how to use it (jets, lights, set the filtering times, etc.). And they cleaned up after themselves, leaving nothing behind. Although I was disappointed when I asked him some questions (specifically about the filter, as well as ozone), and he was extremely vague and unhelpful. But later a call to Claudia at the store got me all the info I needed. Overall, I was very happy with the delivery process. Keeping the water clean & clear is a saga in and of itself. I have spent so much time researching online trying to master that. I've found a Taylor test kit to be my best asset. I have come in many times to get water tested. The helpfulness really depends on who is interacting with me. I think the front-of-store employees don't know too much about spa balancing & problems that come with it. But I'm thrilled if the owners are up front, because they're extremely helpful with giving me very precise numbers (test results) as well as clear & confidence-inducing feedback on what chemicals to use to get it back into balance. So that is hit or miss, depending on who is up front when I walk in. I now realize I bought a lot of chemicals I didn't need when it wasn't Dennis testing & giving me feedback. The prices of the chemicals are more than I'd find elsewhere... but I prefer to support this shop, so I buy them here. I do wish I could get the discount on chemicals, but I don't really want to have to show them this *brutally honest because I'm not bribed* review. Overall, I'm quite happy with my purchase, and I do appreciate this shop being here. read more

Wife and I purchased a S150 Swim Spa for Hot Tubs Plus. The owners Dennis and Claudia were awesome to work with and real patient throughout our purchase. They were knowledgeable and honest with us. Wife wanted it on a certain date and Dennis tried his hardest to get as close as he could to it. We understood it was not easy especially when we didn't have a place ready for it but once we got that electricity and concrete, it was all better from there. These guys are nice and genuine folks, even the gal working the front desk was helpful when I needed my spa water tested after a week or so. Our search for a spa began online with the intent of saving a few dollars, but after reading reviews of online delivery nightmares, we wanted to speak with a reputable dealer. We visited two spa dealers in Bakersfield and Hot Tubs Plus had the type of spa we wanted, and we found their customer service to be excellent - a benefit of a family owned and operated business. We found Hot Tubs Plus so helpful in explaining options, how to coordinate electricity, delivery, installation, etc. Zero pressure to buy. When we found our spa and discussed timing of delivery, we were given the parts necessary to have the electrical completed in advance, which made the morning installation go smoothly, and the spa was ready for a night time soak. Every single person from Hot Tubs Plus was courteous, helpful, responsive, and intent on customer satisfaction. Rarely have I seen an installation crew (ours took a few more people due to a more complex installation - see photos) shake my hand and introduce themselves on arrival and shake my hand again after completion. They also made sure every little thing was put back or cleaned up. White glove service start to finish. We are loving it! read more

I found Hot Tubs Plus online and requested service for an old Hot Springs spa that was left at a home I recently purchased. Although their tech was busy for the next week, they accommodated my request that same morning because the tech was "relatively" close to my home in Arvin! The shop followed up with me soon afterward with an estimate for repairs, and even though the spa was repairable, replacement sounded like a better option to me for my approx. 25 year old spa. I visited Hot Tub Plus the following weekend and left a deposit to purchase a new Jetsetter spa. The removal of the old and delivery of the new spa worked out very smoothly, and they accommodated my schedule again regarding the delivery date. The installer Cody and his helper showed up a few minutes early (sorry I left you waiting at the gate). He explained in detail and showed me how to operate and maintain the spa. I visited the Hot Tub Plus about a month later with a water sample. Dennis helped me right away and told me exactly what was needed to properly balance the chemicals. My experience with a total of 5 staff members from Hot Tub Plus has been top notch starting the day I first called. Great folks! read more

I am selling my house and the spa heater went out. It needed an igniter and Hot Tubs Plus had the part within an hour. I installed the igniter and it still didn't work so Hot Tubs Plus came out and found the Thermistor was bad. No worries because HTP had the part and had it installed in under two hours...maybe an hour. The heater works great and the buyers are happy. Thanks Claudia and all the folks at HTP. They are family owned and took their time to answer every question and discussed what their products and services were. They were very attentive and friendly. We didn't purchase on site. We shopped around and considered our options. One day we walked into their show room. We looked around, asked more questions, and sat in many of their tubs. They were not pushy or trying to up sell at all. The owner even helped us with our two children as we looked around and were making the purchase. We bought our first Hot Tub at Costco, that was a mistake. We had a hard install and finding a decent electrician along with repairs was a major pain. The company folded and was bought out and we were stuck. We decided to purchase a new tub along with a big company brand so that doesn't happen again, it costs more and I consider that piece of mind insurance. We looked locally for personable service plus have an easier install. Hot Tubs Plus gave us so much more then we expected, Claudia and Dennis weren't pushy sellers and they had all the necessary contacts for an excellent electrician who does hot tub exclusively and the install by their son and his team. It's a family company, this is what America was built on. We got what we paid for and more. My hubby is very tall and wanted a reclining seat, I'm short and prefer sitting so we ended up buying the Hot Springs Flair with the salt system so water exchanges were done way less often. We absolutely love it, our skin is softer and this system is so quiet. The seat jets move across the tub and not all at once so it's packs power! The mood glow lights are so much fun!
