Is this a 4 star restaurant? No, not even close. My review of 4 stars is based on what it is, a…read moresmall town bar in the middle of nowhere. And it's one of the better small town bars in the middle of nowhere you will find. I went on a Friday night, wich happens to be all you can eat fried chicken and fish night, and the place was packed. All things considered, service was prompt and very friendly. I opted for the half open faced hot beef sandwich and salad bar. The half hot beef sandwich was huge, very inexpensive (less than $5), and very good. The salad bar was very lackluster and left a lot to be desired. Cucumber salad, potato salad, and coleslaw were all that were on it. I should've looked before ordering it. A couple local craft beers on draft and some national crafts in bottles was a pleasant surprise. The interior is well appointed, clean, and very welcoming.

If you are looking for a great place to have breakfast, keep on driving right past this place. I've…read morebeen there 4 times now for breakfast on the weekend and it's always a disappointment. Dry, burned toast, partially raw pancakes, over cooked eggs, etc. I've been trying to cut them some slack--not that old of a business, maybe a lack of previous restaurant experience, and so on. I told the group that I meet up with there that we aren't wasting time or money here anymore. There's been teenagers running the place each time we've been, so that is most likely why the quality just isn't there when we've been there. As far as the lunch and dinner go here, I would probably go up to 3 stars. Just average bar food. If you actually get what you ordered and get it while it's still warm, you've hit the jackpot.

It had a nice modern feel and clean bathrooms. We had a group of four, and 3/4 said it was the best (Monte Cristo, Brunch Burger, and Club Sandwich) they ever had. One of the first major stops is all the antique malls in Walnut, IA. The wife mentioned that she would like me to find a bakery that served food. I thought I was the hero finding Milk & Honey - a farm to table bakery. The restaurant is in an old Ford dealership building next to a jui jujitsu place. You have to order 1st up front and then wait for them to deliver your food. The good: An excellent place to people watch. Both the employees and clientele. Interesting enough quite a diverse clientele. I ordered the sausage breakfast sandwich with a side of home fries with cheese, peppers and onions recommended by the lady who took our order. A great recommendation. When our food arrived it was hot and good. The bad: My wife wanted to sit outside. I wished I took her suggestion. It was hotter inside than outside. We waited 45 minutes for OU order. You don't want to be around my wife when she is hot and hungry.

There was plenty of seating both inside and out, making it easy to settle in and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the large menu offered plenty of options with the flexibility to customize orders. I went with the two-egg plate, served with crispy potatoes, bacon, and French toast, and everything was delicious. The coffee arrived hot and fresh and kept coming, which is always a plus. The kids absolutely devoured their chocolate chip pancakes like nobody's business! It's easy to see why this place has so many loyal customers. Many people mentioned the consistently friendly service, generous portions, and homemade feel of the food, and after our visit, I can understand why. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is a great spot for a hearty breakfast. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu!

There was only one waitress working and she didn't make us wait too long and was friendly enough. My wife had the biscuits and gravy which was really excellent. They sure know how to make a good biscuit. I had the special, which was a bagel breakfast sandwich, which was pretty good, definitely generous on the bacon which I appreciated. All in all, it's exactly what you'd expect and it's a good stop if you want a home cooked breakfast with some country flavor.
