    Banana DK Crush Float
    Lizzie Y.

If you find yourself at Epic Universe's Super Nintendo World, please do yourself a favor & walk on over to Donkey Kong Country, to try the Bubbly Barrel! Their Donkey Kong Crush Float is the perfect dessert float to end the night after a long day at the park or even as a quick snack during the day. We ordered three of the signature crush floats, with the DK-themed barrel mugs! I would say, it's definitely not for everyone but I really enjoyed the banana pineapple ice cream. It comes with caramel popcorn and toffee pieces, for toppings... all in a waffle bowl. Note: there is pineapple soda underneath, I believe Fanta? But it's not very good, imo. It is ~$18-19 for the float with the souvenir barrel mug, & ~$10 w/o the mug. I think the mug is worth it, as it ended up being the most reasonably priced souvenir you can get at the parks haha.

This is actually such an amazing dessert to get at the park! The banana pineapple soft serve is just like Dole Whip, but even more delicious! I loved the caramel popcorn toppings and star sprinkles! The aesthetics and presentation for this specialty beverage definitely paid attention to all of the details. I will say that the pineapple soda at the bottom did not have enough syrup in the machine when they dispensed it, so it basically tasted like soda water. But the souvenir mug is just so cool and the ice cream is awesome that I would definitely get it again and again! Hopefully, they get the soda right! The service was a quick, grab, and go situation, and there are some standing tables on the side of the hut to enjoy your tropical treat!

DK float! Banana dole whip with crunchy toppings inside a waffle bowl on top of pineapple soda? It's a unique combo that kinda works! We ordered our drink here and got it immediately. Seating in the area is sparse so we ended up walking a bit and eating it on the go.

We ended our Epic Universe night with this Epic dessert. The great presentation and the DK barrel mug to take home. The popcorn and little star sprinkles made this amazing dessert that you should get when you are here.

    DK Crush Float with Mug

Ok if there is one thing in Epic that you are definitely going to it is the DK Crush Float with Mug. Well, you can get it without the mug, but why? I was at first throw off by banana with pineapple flavors and then it landed in my mouth and I went... mmmmm....lets try it again and still yummmm... then the caramel popcorn, crunches and mixes with the sprinkles and toffee, nothing beats this. Tropical Banana Flavor banana pineapple soft serve float with pineapple soda, waffle bowl, sprinkles, toffee pieces and caramel popcorn served in a souvenir DK mug. This is a float that will float you to the tropical isle's to look for DK & Thank Him !

As soon as you walk in you will be greeted kindly by staff and smell the delicious scent of fresh waffle cones They've got the cutest merch, pins, and stickers (currently they are doing a One Piece collab so I got Luffy). For ice cream and treats, they have some really delicious and unique flavors. And you can have samples too to create the perfect treat. Sampaguita is known to be very busy (which is amazing) but I was lucky to only wait maybe 5 minutes to order. While waiting I loved looking at the merch up front. The shirt design is beautiful. I was surprised to also see cookie options too! The interior is lovely. The design is so airy and pretty. My ice cream was great! I ordered a flavor that had pineapple in it and got the pineapple caramel sauce on top! It is so flavorful and creamy. Great all around dessert. My boyfriend ordered a strawberry shake and loved it. He finished it within a few minutes. We grabbed a table about halfway down the hallway. We sat forawhile and was able to chat and enjoy our desserts. We had a great afternoon visiting here.

Finally got the chance to try Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko, and what a delight it was!!…read more Upon arrival, there was a bit of a line, but thankfully it moved pretty quickly. My order came out quickly. I got their matcha latte with ube foam, and it was a dream in a cup. In comparison to some other places I've gotten matcha from, Cafe Maiko is definitely a top contender. The overall decor is trendy and very clean. They have a cute circular chair that's IG/social media-worthy for a cute photo op. It is quaint inside, with a decent amount of seating. There's some bench seating up front as well, and I believe there is also a bench for seating just outside. Thankfully, I was getting my order to go, as the day and time I arrived, there was no seating readily available. Beyond that, it is a very cute cafe. The parking situation is FOREVER a challenge in the Mills District area, so just be cognizant of that. Pricing was very reasonable. The staff was so kind and helpful (if you had any questions). All in all, for my first experience, I truly enjoyed every bit of it.

Matcha Cafe Maiko is a specialty matcha café focused entirely around Japanese-style matcha desserts…read moreand drinks. We walked into a cute and welcoming space with a menu built around showcasing matcha in different forms rather than treating it as just another flavor option. The atmosphere is cozy and fits the theme well, though seating is limited and it can get crowded during busy times, making it better suited for a quick dessert stop or grabbing a drink to enjoy nearby rather than settling in for a long visit. The main reason to visit is the matcha soft serve and dessert selection. The matcha flavor is noticeably rich and earthy, with a stronger tea profile compared to many sweeter matcha desserts. The soft serve has a smooth, creamy texture and works especially well in combinations like matcha shaved ice, floats, or parfait-style creations. The matcha shaved ice stands out with layers of shaved ice, matcha soft serve, red bean, mochi, and Japanese chestnuts, creating a dessert that has different textures in every bite. The combination of the creamy soft serve with the chewy mochi and the slight bitterness of the matcha creates a balanced dessert that does not rely solely on sugar for flavor. The drink menu gives plenty of ways to experience matcha, from hot and iced matcha drinks to floats and specialty creations. Options like matcha with ube, matcha lattes with foam, and hojicha drinks add variety for anyone who wants something beyond traditional matcha. The café also offers coffee options, which makes it easier for groups with different preferences to find something they enjoy. The matcha lattes are well balanced, with the earthy notes of the tea coming through clearly without being masked by milk or sweetness. Beyond matcha, the menu includes other Japanese-inspired desserts like taiyaki, mochi-based items, and seasonal offerings. The combination of traditional flavors and playful presentations makes the café feel like a dessert destination rather than just a drink shop. The desserts are also visually appealing, with the kind of presentation that makes them worth taking a photo before digging in. The taiyaki are crisp on the outside and filled with a sweet red bean paste that contrasts nicely with the cold soft serve. Service is friendly and helps keep the experience smooth even when the café is busy. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and make it easy to choose between the many matcha options, offering clear descriptions of the flavor profiles and texture differences between the soft serve, shaved ice, and latte options. Because the café has a strong focus on quality matcha and specialty desserts, it can get popular during peak hours, so visiting outside the busiest times may make it easier to find seating and take your time with the menu. Matcha Cafe Maiko is a great spot for anyone who enjoys matcha or wants to try Japanese-style matcha desserts. The combination of rich matcha flavor, creative menu options, and a cozy café atmosphere makes it stand out from typical dessert shops. It feels like a place worth visiting when you want a matcha experience that goes beyond a basic latte, offering a dessert that feels both authentic and indulgent without being overly sweet.

From the top of the swirl to the very bottom of the inside of my cone, there was not a single air pocket to be found. I got the chocolate flavored ice cream, and every bite was chocolatey and creamy heaven. Now, if you know your desserts, the cone that is used is usually known as a chimney cake. It is a sweet pastry that is soft on the inside and has a glass-like crunchy exterior that is coated with cinnamon and sugar. It's a little like eating a cruffin, but with a crunchier exterior due to their special way of making it. Definitely worth trying at least once if you've never tried it before. Overall, if you're looking to impress a foodie with something sweet, decadent, and pretty, I'd say give this place a go. The ice cream is as perfect and delicious as you see it.
