As this is a newly opened business I'm going to 'lay low' until they get their bearings. Suffice it…read moreto say that this deli 'chain' is a welcome addition to downtown Homewood. They primarily prepare sandwiches from 'Deitz & Watson', the up-scale luncheon meat. That is why you will see the D& W emblem throughout the restaurant. Are Dietz & Watson and Fratello's run by the same company? Makes you wonder. Anyway, the restaurant has a nice open Italian-style decor. They have noodles and spices for your Italian fixin's at home. Personally though, if you want a better variety with better prices for your Italian food shopping needs, go to D & D grocery in Chicago Heights. You can read about them here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/d-and-d-food-shop-chicago-heights ______________________________________ So I ordered the corned beef sandwich with Swiss cheese and fries. Also a soft drink. Here's my take on soft drinks at these type of establishments. At $2.00 a pop (pun intended) for a 12 ounce drink (when you include the ice), that can be a bit pricey when considering refills. Soft drinks are bad for you, yada, yada, yada... But if I want to have a soft drink, how is it it 7-11 and certain gas stations can offer up to a 52 oz soft drink for $1.50 - $1.75 but I'm going to pay $2.00 for a 12oz drink here!? I don't think so! The soda should be free refills for dining in patrons. Let's face it deli meat is salty to begin with and along with the fries YOU'RE GOING TO BE THIRSTY! They are NOT losing money on the whole soda thing so don't break out your violins! So while the meal was good for the most part, I couldn't help but be a bit put off when I noticed that the bread had been toasted about 30 seconds too long, giving it a slightly burnt taste but not enough so that I was going to make a fuss over it...like I am here! lol Lastly, (and this applies elsewhere, not just here), if you're going to have TV sets on with no sound please have the sense to put on the closed captioning so people can tell what's going on! I realize you're only running the Food Channel but you still need a sense of what's going on. Better still? Turn on the sound!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Pear Tree Catering's food. My office has catered from Pear…read moreTree for a number of years so I've been fortunate enough to be able to try many of the delicious items that they offer. I love the amazing presentation across all items I've seen -- many times exceeding what I've ever seen at weddings. They also provide wonderful cards with descriptions and dietary indicators that look great and are very informative. What really stands out here though is the food quality. All the fruits and vegetables I've had, whether it be in a fruit tray, salad, grilled veggies, etc. are top notch. Generally I won't go towards fresh produce when given other options, but Pear Tree has won me over with their absolutely delicious items. Even items such as breadsticks and crackers with a mix of cheese are absolutely delicious, where the commitment to sourcing quality ingredients is evident with every bite. Salads are also incredibly good here, with fresh greens that are nice and crisp and nice juicy tomatoes and other items like cheese, nuts, fruits, etc. that once again show their commitment to top notch ingredients. Overall, I'm glad that we do so much corporate catering with Pear Tree Catering. Employees are genuinely excited every time they bring in delicious food to the office, as they are consistently excellent across the board with all their offerings
