Some of the slowest service I've ever received, but the food is good! We came here on Easter so we joked they let the A team have the day off. It was my friend's birthday and this was a good halfway point for us. The music is a little loud and the lighting is kind of dark (wow this makes me sound old), but they have a great selection of lunch/brunch items as well as drinks. I went with the Veggie Cuban. They actually had quite a few good veggie options. I don't eat pork and that seemed to be their meat of choice. On their website it said they had a veggie biscuit and gravy option so I was planning to get that, but it was nowhere to be found on their printed menu. I quickly changed gears and remembered reading that people from the veggie Cuban to be a good choice. After ordering five different sandwiches (there were five of us), we waited. And waited. And waited. It took at least half an hour for us to get our food (at one point I looked at my watch and it was 12:30 p.m. and we had ordered at 12 p.m.). I wasn't the only one who noticed because we had a whole conversation about it. It wasn't that the place was packed - it was about half full. We didn't make any changes on our orders. It was truly bizarre. The food itself was pretty good. It is on the smaller side, but it matches the price. If I was drinking, I would have had to get something in addition to the sandwich, but being only moderately full and not drinking, it filled me up. The Veggie Cuban has a strong pickle taste, which I enjoyed. I got to try my husband's Asian slaw and it was really good! It had a strong sesame oil taste. I got the potato salad and it was good also. Everything was very solid, but don't come here exceptionally hungry! Overall, I enjoyed my meal. It was pleasant and an alright place for lunch. THE ASIAN SLAW IS AWESOME, I really ejoyed it. My boss was not a fan of the southwestern quinoa salad, but I think it would have been great if you're a fan of quinoa. All in all, a pretty satisfactory for a team lunch. I would love to go for happy hour a Friday after work. Reviews say night life there is great! Also, FREE PARKING Y'ALL! Follow the street past the bricks then turn right. We had been here once before, two years ago and enjoyed the food and ambiance so figured we'd stop in tonight and see if it held up. Yes! The food was fresh, very tasty and large portions that made sharing easy. CJ was a fantastic server, always checking - made some nice suggestions. The n Bricklayer nachos were a mountain of corn tortilla chips, jalapenos, queso, salsa and black bean corn relish. Enough for a party of 4. The blackened shrimp pops boy was excellent as well. I was hoping for a much better experience but unfortunately this establishment fell short. When we arrived we had few people at the bar and maybe one or two tables occupied. It was not busy at all, so my friend and I were able to get a table fast. After I finished up my phone call I sat down and my friend was already working on his drink. After that about 25 minutes rolled by and our female server never came back to start our order. Everyone was shooting the shit behind the bar and at one point she sat down to chat with co workers. I'm thinking maybe they're short staffed but not when there's hardly anyone in the joint. Shortly after another couple walked in and the male server jumped right in and took their order. Meanwhile, our server was nowhere to be found. No menus for us, only one drink and one glass of water. It was pretty bad. My friend doesn't easily get upset with horrible service, so once he said he's had enough, that's all she wrote. Since she never came over, he had to walk over to the bar to ask for the check. She told him she'd bring it over but he continued to stand there because we didn't need to wait any longer. She told him they didn't want anyone near the bar due to COVID, meanwhile there is three patrons sitting and drinking at the bar. Finally when she came over to give us the bill she had a look of confusion on her face when we just wanted to pay for the one lonely drink and leave. We told her it's been awhile but no apology, no nothing. Here's your bill and have a nice day. I thought businesses were hurting in Florida due to COVID, but I definitely do not feel bad for this place. Nestled in the quaint and quirky neighborhood of Ybor is the bricks. I would describe this place as eclectic, and the flavors as unique in the best way possible. For example, my wife ordered for the first time a lemonade with a shot of espresso which was described to me as both sweet and energetic. A thunderbolt of sorts which left her electrified and full of life. I had a bowl option that had a base of quinoa as well as a tasty pork topping, avocado, and other Hispanic flair and flavor. It was light, refreshing, and filling. The inside is quite dark, but if you are afraid of this then there is also outside seating in the bright daylight. Parking is a bit of a challenge as you have to rely on the street being available, but I would not let this hold you back from experiencing some authentic and excellent Cuban cuisine. read more

I love the Bricks. I can't believe I haven't reviewed it before. This has been a go-to bar/restaurant for me for the last 8 years. Birthdays, New Year's Eve, Halloween, First United Church of Nintendo, Saturdays, whenever - I've come here for a good time, good drinks, and delicious food in Ybor. My favorite food items are the Bird and Pig sandwich and the Vegan and Sara bowl. Another fantastic selection is the Pacific Rim sandwich. I've had numerous desserts here, as well, and they have always been delicious. I don't believe I have ever left here disappointed in all these years. They used to have an Elvis-inspired sandwich with peanut butter and bananas, I really wish they'd bring that one back. In my experience, the servers and bartenders are attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is laid-back. I look forward to coming back again soon! read more

My friends and I were going to a dance concert at HCC in Ybor and decided to catch a bite prior to the show. This place was right down the street so we walked over. It was a Friday night and the place looked like it was just getting started. We were told to sit wherever we liked. We did. Our waiter was a fabulous young man with the greatest hair! He told us it was happy hour and everyone took his advice on the cocktails. I found what looked like a dream of a meal called the Bird & Pig. It was a sandwich on a Hawaiian bun with everything I love on top, brie, honey, apple, chicken and bacon. Give it a try. My friends both were on a tuna kick. One ordered the Ahi tuna BLT, the other had the tuna turn up. They both loved their meals. I was so glad we went to this place because the inside and outside are a great discovery. LOADED MARY (2.5/5): If you're going to charge $8, please get on Datz, Roux & Ella's Cafe level where they have one of the best bloody mary mixtures. You get a slice of pickle and cheese for a couple bucks more for a "loaded" version compared to $6 - nopppee & don't upgrade. MIMOSA (3/5): Thank goodness there were some bubbles in it - great pour, I approve for $4! CHEDDAR GRITS (3/5): For $3, just fine with light cheddar mixed in with grits. NITRO COLD BREW (4/5): Velvety smooth and delish! The verdict? The portions were good for Chicken Salad BLT. The Asian Slaw had some sesame oil in it & it def. needed salt. This was a delightful little find. It was way above my expectations. The food was excellent. My husband and I had the Bird and Pig and the Pacific Rim. Both sandwiches were very tasty and the salad was fresh with a lovely citrus dressing. Even the chips and queso were outstanding. Not at all the quality we expected. Cloe our waitress took excellent care of us and the other employees were friendly and helpful. As a teacher I only had one complaint. The hostess was wearing a tee shirt with a very obscene phrase on it and there were children in the restaurant. I thought it unnecessary for a workplace environment and the reason I removed a star. I don't want to look at that. But if you're looking for excellent food. This place is highly recommended. read more

I got a sangria which was alright and my dad ordered the old fashioned which was just right. The Bowls/Salads on the menu are really what brought us in. I tried the tacos (veg & chicken) and the chicken were the worst chicken tacos I've had in a WHILE. The chicken had a fishy taste to them, that made them practically inedible. They came with a side of chips, which the serve you 3 chips on each side of the plate. Thanks? But what is the point of these chips anyway. All in all I would not order the tacos. The atmosphere is nice and loved their outdoor seating area. They also have a charging station for phones that came in handy for us ladies to charge our phones before a big night out. Lastly, the kitchen does not accommodate any request. We had a mom whe was pregnant and wanted an ahí tuna dish, but requested the tuna cooked and apparently that is not possible. We came on a Sunday and it was super quiet. We arrived around 10:45, and they told us they couldn't serve us alcohol until 11 (Tampa Law). Our waitress was extremely personable and was very inviting. She gave us the specials and put our drink order in. My husband actually found this place by a Bloody Mary recommendation and they did not disappoint! They are thick, spicy, and you can also order the Loaded Mary $9 which comes with bacon and blackened shrimp. For our breakfast my husband ordered the Bricksrito and I ordered the parfait. Wasn't expecting much from a parfait, but it was truly one of the best parfaits I've ever had! Also, I'm not a big bacon fan (I know. Am I even American?) but their candied bacon was pretty tasty! My husband also loved his meal. Especially the jalapeño aioli. Once we were wrapping up our meal the place became packed! They also had a killer Spotify playlist on! Which I always can appreciate. We went for dinner last night, and the experience was good, but not great. I wandered up to the bar to find out what ciders they have, and they only carried one. When I ordered it from our server, she told me they were 'out'. Luckily, she double-checked at the bar and found they had one left. Yea, lucky me, but then my companion had to settle for his second choice. My meal was just okay - I had the veggie burger, and while I liked the bun it was served on, the burger was extremely bland tasting. The Asian slaw side dish, however, was spicy and delicious. In hindsight, I probably should have dumped it on the burger. My companion did love his Bird & Pig sandwich. Server was nice and efficient, although it took a while from meal's end to receive the bill. And really - for extra napkins with a messy sandwich you provide paper-thin cocktail beverage napkins? If you've seen any of my other reviews, you'll notice a common theme. I think a lot of places deserve 3.5 stars. They're better than mediocre, but not quite 4 star material. While Bricks is in that category, I rounded up because I felt they deserved the benefit of the doubt. My issue with Bricks was 2 fold. One, I was convinced to go based on their special - pig on pig violence. With a name like that, I have to try it. However, while I expected some monstrously awesome pork thing, what I got was a Cuban sandwich with a bacon and something glaze/mustard. 5 stars for the name, 4 stars for getting bacon into a Cuban, but I thought the name was a bit deceiving. That said, it was a delicious sandwich, not the best I've had (which is weird, because it should have been with the added bacon spread), but still good. The second issue is that they were on the verge of revamping their menu, so they didn't reorder a lot of their liquors and therefore, none of the drinks we ordered were available. My girlfriend and I were on our way to the Dave Matthews concert in Tampa, and they had a drink called Cortez the Killer (a song Dave has covered innumerable times), so of course, we had to have it. But, nope, couldn't get it, or any of the other 3 drinks we tried to order. We also asked if there were any drink specials, and the waiter knew of 1/2 price bottles of wine as their weekly Wednesday special, but didn't know about their regular daily happy hour special, which I only found out about at the end of our meal thanks to the poster in the mens room. The server admitted to us it was only his second day, but when he went back to keep checking on the specials and the availability of our drink requests, you'd think this would have come up. I want to give this place another shot. I liked my pig on pig violence, and I had a soup with it that was great. I just thought it would be something more. The lack of server knowledge and the lack of available items on their menu would have brought it down for me to 3.5 stars, if it was available. Since it wasn't, I'll round up and check it out again. I had the Veggie Cuban and the Vegan and Sara rice bowl. Both were flavorful and filling. For a drink I had their Espresso Lemonade....genius!! The ambiance is to die for, as is the creativity. I stopped in to get an order of nachos to go. Because my stretchy pants were calling my name. The couch, Hulu and the stretchy pants. These nachos are GOOD! I would totally get them again and again. You can add meat, avocado and possibly other stuff to the nachos, I did. They are smart at doing nachos for carry out; they thoughtfully provided separate containers of the queso, salsa and their incredibly delicious house nacho sauce that were separate from the tortilla chips. Thanks for existing, Bricks, this was one of my favorite places I've visited in a while. First off the food was delicious. I had the pig and bird sandwich and ceviche to start. What is up with that ceviche?? It was so good I put my remaining chips into the broth and ate it like cereal it was that good! Plus portions were just right and the menu is a high protein clean eating style, exactly how I eat most days but better than my cooking haha. I know this should be expected from a place started and run by skateboarders but it is so nice to not be offered the usual pub fare of burgers and fries gut-bombs. This place was yum yum yum and I left feeling pretty great too. Let's also talk about the art though! Murals everywhere, rotating shows, so much art as far as the eye can see. Being a native Floridian who grew up hanging out in Ybor, it was nice to be in a venue that carries on the original artist/counterculture vibe of Ybor and be a welcoming oasis in a sea of WTF. The Bricks was a random, interesting stop after a long IKEA run with my sister. We wanted vegan and vegetarian options and it was nearby, so in we went. Let me just say the website and online menu doesn't match the vibe inside - which isn't a bad thing, it's just different. The menu was more cafe-style and the place felt like a slightly more upscale college bar. The menu had something for everyone and all of our meals were really good. Between the 3 of us, we got the veggie cuban, vegan burrito and vegan tacos. Everything was delicious!
