The Bread Basket is a wonderful "mom n pop" bakery and sandwich shop. The bread is always very fresh and delicious. They have the best chicken salad I have ever had (green onions in there is a nice touch). I highly recommend any of their baked goods because I've never had one that wasn't amazing. Just moved to Cheyenne and tried this place out, AMAZING! It has fresh baked breads, desserts and pastries. They also sell honey, jams, and home canned salsa. Prices were super reasonable, about the same I pay for salsa, Jam and bread at the grocery store and we got a pastry, muffin, and two large coffees for $6! read more

Okay two stars for the following: Food - 3 stars. The kids had sloppy joes which they liked and were it up to them they would have rated it 4 stars. One of my kids had the white chili and he rated it 4, my other son a roast beef sandwich and he gave it 2.5 and my wife and I got the turkey sandwich h and we rated it a 3. So the food was average. Now we didn't try the pastries, which looked really good so not sure what that would do to the rating. Location - 4 stars. I love places like this. Sort of divey but unique and relaxing. The downside is that it smelled funny. We ate outside and it was fun. Service - -5, yes that's a minus 5. They treated us as though we were interrupting them from something. There was 6 of us and so our order took a little long and they made us feel like we were taking too long. And oh by the way there wasn't anyone waiting behind us. Next they don't take American Express which just bothers me when that happens. Anyway, I had high hopes for a fun unique place to eat for lunch on our road trip and we just got average food with poor service. But the memory that we made was priceless. We stopped to get some bread to make sandwiches. Then we saw the homade soup and decided to just eat their sandwiches which was yummy. We had their chicken salad on honey wheat. It was perfect, not too much mayo, fresh veggies, soup was delicious, and our meal came with a cookie! We had to order a cinnamon roll- highly recommend that. Excellent sandwich that had generous portions, fresh bread and fresh vegetables. Ham and bean was the soup of the day, which was a perfect complement to my turkey and cheddar on sourdough. I am a local and can't believe everyone rates this place so highly! Not that everything is bad, it's just nothing is very GOOD. Another reviewer put it best when she said everything is bland. Amen. The cookies are okay, but frankly I'd rather have grocery store pastries. Sandwiches are okay but nothing special. Breakfast burritos, average, biscuits and gravy, meh....you get the point. This place is not 5 stars or even 4. I'm being generous with 3 stars. 2.5 would fit best. read more

The food and bakery items are good, especially the sandwiches, I will make that clear. It's the woman in charge - I assume the owner. Over the years we have spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on food and the holiday gift baskets for special people in our lives. Last week I bought over $200 worth of baskets, and I did not even get a smile or a thank you. Not even an offer to carry the 8 baskets out to my car, which was right outside the door. A very charming, humble shop - there's a little bit of everything in terms bread here - loaves, rolls, pastries, cookies (sadly, no bagels). Their sandwiches and soups are solid an their breads are refreshingly wholesome (no unnecessary ingredients, preservatives, etc). This wonderful family run bakery snuggled in a neighborhood, has a great assortment of fresh pastries and bread that it was hard to choose. The apple and cinnamon bear claw was perfect. The burrito was soggy and stuck to the foil. The cookies (double peanut butter) tasted old and hard. The cinnamon roll I ordered, I thought would be warmed up and it wasn't. I was really cold. Still had a good taste. I asked the lady what "green chile" was and she replied "it's green chile". I don't know about you but that did not help me in any way. I then ate lunch there two days in a row, and the White Chili is hands down the best soup I have ever tasted! The BEST thing about this place is it is real. The Bread Basket is the best bakery I have been in since leaving Britain 23 years ago. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the baked goods are just divine. If you are near here at breakfast, the burritos are superb and a great value. Personally I prefer the traditional but my kids prefer the country. At lunch time the cabbage burgers are not to be missed. This shop is tucked away just outside of downtown Cheyenne but well worth finding! read more

Stopped by last evening to grap a bite heading back to the hotel. I must say I was pleasantly surprised, could've spent quite a while sampling the fares. Everywhere I looked there was something else I wanted to sample, but alas in a time crunch. Grapped ham salad on the jalapeño/cheese as was never disappointed from the first bite to the last. Visiting Cheyenne for a week, went to the Bread Basket because of the reviews on here. I ordered a turkey on 9-grain, and it was absolutely delicious. The bread was the freshest I've ever had. Prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the food, and the staff seemed very friendly. Wish there was a place like this back home. There's a variety of great tasting fresh bread, meat, condiments, veggies, sides and pastries. We all had the meal deal, with sandwiches which were a very good size and very tasty. The chicken salad was delicious. The side could be a salad (not an actual salad, but choices like coleslaw and bow tie pasta) or the daily soup, white chili, which was new for us and very good. The meal deal also included cookies which were unique and good. For a mid-day snack we bought apple cinnamon bear claws and a cinnamon roll. Both were sweet and great. The cinnamon roll had a nice twist. It seemed to have a hint of a lemon glaze. You can also buy full loaves of bread, granola, and other types of bread products. The Bread Basket is located in a neighborhood type area and looks nice and homey. Several small tables inside with funny signs with witty lines on the walls. The mother prepares the sandwiches while her daughter works the registrar. Both are very sweet. Overheard that there's a half price discount for bread at 5:45 pm on weekdays and 3:45pm on Saturdays. read more

I like this quaint neighborhood bakery in general but not because their baked goods are that good. In fact most of their cookies are hard and crumbly instead of soft and chewy. Their sticky cinnamon rolls aren't quite as big or have as much icing as the famous rolls from Johnson's Corner in Colorado. Not bad though. They have a small seating area inside and a couple of sidewalk tables when the weather is nice. Maybe the best breakfast burrito's in town !!! They bake really good breads of many varieties and make very good deli sandwiches starring their breads. They have a pretty wide variety of foods and baked goods. Prices are reasonable. read more
