I absolutely love Wednesday night music bingo. They also have trivia night and lots of other stuff. That's what got me started going there. Not a huge fan of the food, they try to be to fancy with it. But if you like fancy go for it. Beer is great, if you're a beer drinker they have a lot on tap. I've been meaning to try their brunch. I'll have to update when I finally get around to it. Update: their brunch was awesome, I like it better than their regular food, I had a bacon and egg flatbread and my grandma had chicken and waffles. The flatbread was great. We stopped here on the way home for a mid afternoon lunch. We wanted to eat in the atrium and all tables were used or had a sign that indicated they were unavailable (I assume to control service capabilities). When we asked to sit on one of this tables, it was not a problem. It was sunny and bright in the room and had TVs tuned to the Olympics. I wasn't super hungry and just got a Caesar side salad, which was much bigger than I was expecting. Husband got a chicken club wrap with crinkly fries. The tortilla was seared a bit to give it a little crisp which he loved. I have to admit, I stole a few fries and they were very good. Since there was craft beer, I had to do some day drinking and opted for the nitro stout per the server's recommendation and it was perfect. I loved the atmosphere. The Main Street is so cute with lots of shops and breweries. The exposed brick and atrium (which opens up to the outdoors in warmer weather) was inviting. Great stop. read more

Best burger I've had in a while--in fact there were high marks from all the diners at our table. All ordered burgers except one who had the fish and chips. Didn't hear any complaints from that eater either. Lots of cool beers. May have found a new favorite in Petrus. Patio area is inviting and lounge-worthy. Service was good. Stopped in here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, the place was clean and not very busy. They have a huge selection of beer on tap as the name suggests. We were underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the Tap salad and my boyfriend had a chicken flatbread along with the trio dips (salsa, quest and guac). We are fairly new residents of Cedar Falls but hadn't tried the Brass Tap yet. Great beer choices and a well organized menu. We had an incentive of a coupon for Sturgis Falls days for $10 for a cheeseburger/fries/tap beer. What's not to love about that? I got fish tacos that were also good, and we got an appetizer that was good too. PLUS it was Monday happy hour and draft beers were 1/2 price. We definitely felt we'd go back. I was told there was an extensive list of beer on tap so I had to go here! I came at happy hour on a Wednesday night, not too busy, and sat up at the bar. There were so many beers on tap and the bar tender was very friendly and helped me choose a great beer. I had the bikini bottom pineapple wheat beer to start with. It was a great refreshing beer perfect for the summer. It had a good pineapple taste but not acidic like pineapple can be. It was a wheat beer with a great tropical taste. I ordered the chicken nachos, with jalapeños on the side. I was scared of the spice level. Without the jalapeños, it was perfect for me. There was queso with shredded cheese too, with roasted red peppers and an onion mix. They would definitely be good for 2 or more people. I ate all the good stuff, very delicious. I then had the mango coaster beer. The first sip had a strong apricot taste to it and I didn't really like it but after a couple sips. It was good. It wasn't too busy there but the bar tenders were friendly to chat with. I didn't feel awkward being there by myself and had a great dinner. When back in town, I will be back here. read more

TL;DR version: If you happen to be in the Northern Iowa/Cedar Falls area, The Brass Tap is a pretty great option for drinks and grub. It's a great menu for a bar/restaurant, with a really nice fresh/comfortable feel with great drinks, local beers, great prices and what looks like a nice Mule menu for those drink snobs out there. Having just moved back to northern Iowa from Austin, Texas, which has a pretty hoppin' food/bar scene, this place would be on par with many of the locales I frequented in Austin. My only con for this place is that it's about a 45 min drive from my house! They have a pretty hefty on tap beer selection, the chicken salad I ordered was pretty tasty and not your normal bar salad with iceberg lettuce, a slice of onion, and maybe a tomato with ranch. It had various spices, some dried fruit, and a homemade (I think it was homemade) peppered ranch. The menu was pretty impressive, as were the prices for the food. So, good food, good menu, and good drinks in a pretty stylish/comfortable restaurant hopefully is a recipe for success here in COLDCOLD Iowa. read more

We decided to check out this new restaurant, and were overall pretty pleased. The word on the street is that it's a chain, but is locally owned by two brothers--one of whom was walking around greeting guests and asking how everything was. Bonus tips for them! Menu: Beer-wise, there were about sixty beers on tap, and there was a full page of bottled beers on the back--pretty decent selection overall! There were some Iowa breweries, including some of the local establishments. Food: The burgers looked pretty tasty to us. I had the Pub and my husband had the Southern. My burger was pretty good, but it could use a bit more spice and zing! We also substituted our fries for the house-made tater tots. They were really freaking good. I'd love to see maybe a few more on my plate; however, since we paid more for them. Service: Excellent. Our waiter was great and very attentive. Our food came quickly, as did our beers. The waiters actually have a small tablet to enter food directly and it goes to a screen in the kitchen. It's pretty snazzy! They also just run your card right there at the table, which is great for security of your card (doesn't leave your sight.) And it saves the waitstaff steps. Bartender promptly took my order; however, he seemed incapable of reconciling the when he asked me how was everything and I shared my disappointment with the amount of meat on my prime rib sandwich. There was more bread than meat. Additionally, I expected more than eight tater tots. Had the bartender made things right or the kitchen got the job done right the first time, I would have rated this place four out of five. I would like to try their pub burger. Next time, I will hold off from stopping in Cedar Falls and stop in Iowa City when I want good food and experience. read more

The Brass Tap is a very good and fun place to go. They've got a lot of great craft beers here, pretty much can cater to what anyone would like. I enjoyed the different sour beers they had to offer. We tried their combo appetizer to start off. The boom boom shrimp were excellent, the house made tots with beer cheese and chicken tenders were good as well. What I really liked was the pita chips with pimento cheese, will be craving these now. We also split the Korean BBQ sliders, very good flavor on these. We sat at the bar and got good service. We could hear the kitchen area from there and they were on top of their game. The food came out nice and hot. It was very busy here and kind of loud, but not too bad. Nice place. Newer and plenty of room for small or large gatherings. Went on a Sunday afternoon with my girls to have lunch and grab a drink after soccer games. Girls had HUGE chicken tenders and more fries than they could eat in 2 or 3 meals. I had the sliders basket. Sliders were very tiny but very good. I would order either of those meals again. This is a beer place. I'm a beer snob. I only like bourbon and don't care for beer at all. But looks like they have a great selection for those who do. Cocktails are pricey. I think my Jack and Coke was $8.00! That was for a short. So probably wouldn't go their for drinks unless I was with my wife or beer crowd. Should have checked to see if they had a happy hour specials for a Sunday afternoon. The place has TVs but I would not consider it a sports bar. And all different ages of people were there which is a good sign for a local business. Service was friendly and bar food was great. So I would go ahead and think most people would enjoy going here as much or more than a chain bar and grill. My husband and I ventured in on a late Thursday night because it was a new place to try. We were pleasantly surprised! The service is great, they didn't give us attitude for showing up late and ordering food. The bartenders were knowledgeable and personable, even teasing me about not liking beer. I do wish they had meads in their cider/mead section. We ordered the southern stack and it was delicious! I wanted there to be more pork belly, or bigger pieces, as there was only a tiny piece on each stack. That being said, the food was still delicious. The menu is different for Cedar Falls which is greatly appreciated (I was so excited when I didn't see seared ahi tuna), the prices are fare and my husband and I are very excited to return and try everything on the menu. Edit: not a review but a suggestion: I implore you to make a brunch menu. You would make a killing, especially when the weather is warm and if you have outside seating. Make a bloody mary menu too! Service: Staff was pleasant, knowledgeable, and service was quick. We paid right at the table, which was nice. Food: Bar food with a twist. I ordered the Pub burger with Mac n cheese side. The noodles in the Mac n cheese were over cooked and I didn't care for the crack crumbs on top. The burger was very juicy and had good flavor, yet I couldn't taste the flavor of the Gouda cheese or the jalapeño cream cheese. I felt the onions were very strong and overpowering. My boyfriend had the Southern burger with tots. He felt there could've been a few more tots for the $1.5 extra. The pork belly on the burger was tough and he couldn't bite through it. The fried tomato was good, but very small. He said he couldn't really taste any flavors of the burger except the onions and the meat. Drinks: The beer selection is very large. I went here for an early dinner with a friend. The main dining area is apparently not open until 5, so coming in at 430, we were seated at a small table next to the bar. There is an extensive beer list. I had a brown ale which was pricey (6$ for small glass) but very good. For the meal I had the burger with Korean BBQ pork belly. As a burger, it was good but nothing special as the name might suggest. The pork belly strips were really tiny and sort of tough. If a Korean theme was the goal, a better topper might have been BBQ ribeye strips, kimchee , or a scallion omelet. My companion had the flatbread/pizza, which was actually pretty good, but unfortunately arrived a bit cold. Service was good. I would say the beer/bar is the main attraction here and the food secondary. A nice casual place for a meal at a reasonable price. read more
