First of all today is Thursday. I applied for a rental house 3 days ago all to hear they turned me down. We submitted paystubs from his job like they do it. He works for moving company so they are paid differently and so this company kept emailing they needed different documents even though we submitted everything asked for on the website and sent them a statement from taxes he made last year which was over 100K. So, you tell me when we pay rent at our apartment complex on time for over 3 years they were don't qualify? Really? They ask you for your photos of yourself and your vehicles. I think that if you not in a certain criteria you are not chosen. We paid fees of total 120 and was turned down. They asked us for 6 months of bank statements like we buying; we only renting. There are people that are buying and not asked for 6 months of statement, yeah something is wrong here. We never had this much trouble EVER in our lives trying to rent. We get everything we go after before applying at Brandywine rentals. There was no reason to turn us down, but what God has for us will be greater than these homes, because God sits high, sees everything and looks low. This is simply regarding the noise and I'll elaborate on more later. It's ridiculous. Someone is currently banging something in their unit with a hammer as they did yesterday, and have done on many other occasions. I'm trying to study for an exam and might have to leave my own home that I pay way too much for just to find peace and quiet. You would think most people would be at work during the day or sleep late at night but, nope. There is ALWAYS, some unnecessary, incessant noise going on. Not city noise, rude and selfish noise. Two neighbors have pianos, one gave his son drums, there's random noises from the kids above me at 5/6am that literally wake me out of my sleep, and I'm no light sleeper. I've slept through a hurricane. It's been a headache. I'll mention it to both my neighbors and the management and no one is rude, and it might even stop for a short period, but that doesn't last long. I'm not even looking for complete silence 24/7, but if you're moving furniture at 3am, or your kids are holding races in the hallways at 10, that's clearly a problem. I say all that to say if you need peace, serenity, relaxation, LOOK ELSEWHERE! Especially for the amount in rent you'll be paying. It's bad enough the back entrance looks and smells like a closet where garbage is disposed, the least they could do is maintain a relaxing ambience. read more

I lived here for about a year and a half (been in DC for 6 years). In terms of apartment complexes/buildings in DC, The Brandywine is probably the best. The management staff is EXTREMELY responsive, usually less than 24 hours for a response. If you have a service issue such as plumbing or paint, the on site mechanics/plumbers are usually available within 24 hours. I'd wager that The Brandywine has the best building management in all of DC. Furthermore these are the largest apartments you can get in DC for the price, the spaces are HUGE. There's plenty of lighting, the central HVAC is in top-notch condition (with utilities included!!!) such that you can have it your way winter or summer. Other amenities: rooftop lounge area, fitness center, on site laundry, in-door parking (extra), concierge, package room (with Saturday intake), online web portal to file service requests and rent payments. Ultimately when apartment hunting, it comes down to money and maintenance. And for that, The Brandywine is the best bang for your buck. I regularly recommend friends to check out this place as a place to rent because the management is fantastic, the staff is amazing, and the price can't be beat. There are a few new developments in the area: Van Ness Town Center and BreadFurst bakery. Local walkables: Van Ness Station (7 minute walk) Giant Supermarket (next to Van Ness Station) CVS (next to Van Ness Station) Walgreens (next to Van Ness Station) Pho 14 (highest rated Pho in DC) (next to Van Ness Station) starting to see a trend here... Bus stop at [Brandywine & Connecticut]: L2/L1, takes you straight North/South on Connecticut Ave, Cleveland Park is a 5 min bus ride, AdMo a 13 minute ride. Dupont Circle is about 12 minutes from door of Brandywine to Dupont Metro. Columbia Heights is about 13-18 minutes driving (or Uber/Lyft/Sidecar/Hailo) since you can cut across the city. The [Van Ness & Connecticut] bus stop services H2, which cuts across and takes you to CoHi station. I would've probably continued living here, but I moved in with my fiancee so I gave up an amazing apartment. Don't make that mistake! ;) read more

My wife and I lived here for two years, from May 2015 through April 2017. It's been an absolutely wonderful experience. Best apartment I've ever lived at. - The managers Daniela and Larry and fantastic - The gentlemen who do maintenance are friendly, experienced and always respond quickly to requests - Rent is very reasonable - The building is clean and quiet - The residents are friendly - The roof is open during the summer, and it's really nice for BBQ and small parties - There are great bike racks in the two parking garages My only two complaints: - Ever since 3/1/17 when the management company switched from McCaffery Interests to Borger Management, they no longer send you an email when you receive a package in the package room - The gas tank for the grill on the roof is often out of gas during the summertime read more

We recently moved to Brandywine! Amazing staff, great location! Laundry is spacious and a lot of machines (usually packed on weekends, but people are fast to clean up their stuff). Gym is not that big but enough (usually not crowded). Rooftop terrace is great, great view and bbq. Back entrance is convenient if you need to move it/out or large package deliveries. Have recycle bins in garage area. Apartment: very spacious and a lot of windows!!! A lot of natural light! Friendly and responsible management. Also, they are very responsive. They fixed our problem in 3 hours. Appliances were new when we moved. Very very clean apartment and building. Highly recommend. Tips: check out the Rock Creek park nearby, pizzeria (italian kitchen, I guess), walk around and play tennis in forest hills park! Check the morning coffee/tea service! read more

I've lived here for two years with my roommate, and if it were slightly less expensive I could see myself living here for many more in a single. The apartments are spacious, clean, and have lots of natural light streaming in from huge windows. Maintenance requests are dealt with within 24 hours, with very few exceptions. The package room is staffed by the friendliest people in the world and I'm a huge fan of most of the people who work at the front desk too. The building and the area are both very safe and residential. There are places to eat within walking distance. A wide variety of people live here, from students to diplomats. There's a well-stocked business room and a bookshelf where people give as good as they get that is always overflowing with lightly used books and where' I've offloaded many of my own. The only downsides are the price (which, despite being ridiculously high, is competitive for the area), the fact that the apartments are not soundproof (I hear one of my neighbors crying every night, showers from other apartments in the morning, and the little kid upstairs, as well as the occasional annoying-as-anything college party), the endless construction that has been going on for 7 or 8 months now right across from my apartment (actually, thinking of this, I wonder if I should ding them another star), and the fact that you will have to hike through the building a bit to get the the mail room/laundry room or to the front door- this place is huge. I lived in multiple apartments in the Brandywine over the past 5 years. It's a quality place to live. They staff are great- laid back and know you by name. The maintenance team is a dream- fixing things seconds after you place a request. The apartments all have nice layouts- I got spoiled living on the 1st floor where each apartment has a private patio. The courtyard side is beautiful and there is ZERO street noise due to how it is situated. Package room is great, laundry is brand new and adequately sized, gym was recently expanded, and the roof deck with grill is a nice bonus. Garage parking available for $150/month or $15/night. My only complaint is that there aren't studios, and the one bedrooms are out of reach pricewise; otherwise I probably would have just stayed when I was ready to get out on my own. read more

One star is generous! I've lived in this building for over 5 years and once this building switched to Borger Mgmt service has crumbled. It's impossible to speak to the property mgr or anyone from management, either you're call is dropped, disconnected, sent to voicemail or routed to send an email for a delayed response (I had to speak to four people before someone gave me the correct email address). Maintenance requests take a lot of follow up and sometimes aren't completely resolved. Borger & Brandywine personnel don't care about their residents or their needs at all. read more

The apartments are nice and it's in a great location, HOWEVER, the management team is rude, condescending and useless. If you report a problem, you get a "oh ok" just make sure you never follow up on it otherwise you're the scum of the earth. Emails to the community manager are NEVER replied to and if you go in person his door is always closed, the management team has daily several hour meetings so good luck finding anyone anyhow. Also be prepared for nonstop emails about the community rules and guidelines, it's easier to send an email blast to everyone who lives there then deal with problem tenants outright. If you don't get enough stress at your job, pick The Brandywine, they're more than happy to mess with your day! read more

I've lived at the Brandywine for about five years now. When I first moved in, the Brandywine was a nice place to live, but then a couple of years ago, the owners switched to Borger Management. Ever since then, the quality of life at the Brandywine has seemed to go downhill. First, Borger cut down five (apparently healthy) trees from the front of the building. More recently, they don't seem to be screening prospective tenants well, as I've seen tenants with apparent mental health issues in the building (a man who was talking to himself in the lobby, as well as a woman who was singing in the lobby). The tenants association in the building just sent out an email stating that police records show they have been called to the Brandywine 10 times per month in 2019, when two years ago it was only three times per month. Needless to say, that's not a good trend. read more

Awesome! I've lived here 3 years and can't really find a better place in DC. It's not cheap but it's worth it. Forest Hills (Van Ness) is the "suburbs within DC"--quiet, safe, green area. If you want to be in the party/city scene, look elsewhere like Woodley Park or DuPont. The building seems to be mostly professionals, college kids (well behaved) and elderly people. Garage parking is about 150/mo. I don't think pets are allowed (maybe cats but not sure) which helps keep it clean/quiet. Pros: +Easily get to downtown in less than 30 min door-to-door (driving or metro) IN rush hour. +Close to Bethesda, Rockville. 495, 270 and River Rd all nearby +4 blocks to metro! +Spacious rooms. +Gorgeous wood floors +All util included +No major pest issues +Great service--highly responsive staff. They have lots of fun events/goodies: free coffee, cookies, pizza days etc. +Clean facilities, very well managed +Plenty of parking nearby. No meters! (Need a DC permit) +Extremely safe neighborhood. Quiet, not much foot traffic at night. Safe to walk around at 4am, although not recommended--it is still DC after all. Most of the areas behind building are (extremely expensive) single family homes where affluent live. +Shared BBQ, patio and roof +Tennis courts nearby +About half a mile to Rock Creek park trails,etc +Renovated apartments are gorgeous. Shiny wood floors. +HUGE windows everywhere for lots of sunlight. +Best gym I've seen in a DC apartment. Huge. Places to do yoga (the big blue mat needs to be changed though) and virtual cardio/spinning classes. There's also a Gold's gym a block away. +Zips dry cleaning, nail salon, Giant, liquor store, Subway, CVS, Thai, Pho, Potbelly, Starbucks and barber shop.. Comet billiards and more restaurants up the street towards Chevy Chase. [Updated] In the last year they added a Soapstone Market and Sfoglina restaurant (with the new buildings, Park Van Ness). Both are over-priced but maybe you'd like them. Breadfurst is also a nice bakery nearby. Cons: -Older building (again, like most of DC)=thin walls ; air vents are like an intercom system--you can sometimes hear entire conversations from other floors while standing in your kitchen; strangely thin steel doors. -Bathrooms aren't ventilated -No washer/dryers in apartments. As a you go professional, it's a reasonably priced place to live with my two other roommates. It's three-ish blocks from the Van Ness metro, and less than a 15 minute walk to Tenleytown. The building has a free gym and free coffee every weekday for people heading to work. The amenities are great and the maintenance staff is super fast! All in all I like living here so far and plan to stay put for a while. read more

We lived in The Brandywine for 5+ years and it was a wonderful experience! The apartment itself was spacious for 2 BR and had a wonderful view of the nearby playground and park. The apartment and building were always well kept & clean. The amenities, including a gym outfitted with new equipment and a roof deck that provided a lovely oasis of sorts, were top notch. The real gem of The Brandywine, however (and what we miss most) is its staff. They are the most professional and prompt ensemble of folks that I've ever come across - and I've lived in apartments for 20+ years. Even sent me flowers after having my 2nd kiddo! Do yourself a favor, and RUN! 5-star reviews are obviously fake, written by management. Here's the deal: This used to be a great community, well managed and nice. But since Borger took over, everything has gone downhill .The police are here every other day. visits are up 500% compared to before. Why? ...domestic disturbance, drugs.. Management is ineffective, stingy, and rude.(On-site staff are nice, but they don't call the shots) During corona, this was the only building around here that refused to implement any kind of protection methods for the residents and the staff even though someone in the building tested positive for corona and one person died (unknown cause). They just don't care. Neighbors can be real loud, and the building doesn't do anything about it. Smoke from apartmnts spreads into your unit. Marijuana too. They don't care. The laundry machines get dirty all the time, and the building doesn't do anything about it. The premises are now unsafe (check out the police reports), and the building doesn't do anything about it. (Seriously, do they even screen applicants??) most apartments are lookin old (bathrooms, floors, and ktichesn haven't been upgraded for decades), and the rent is outrageous for what you get. What's good about this place? Location. But you can get that location at a better price, and a better building, in this area. read more

My experience here was dreadful. The management was absolutely awful and rude. In multiple email conversations it took several promptings to get any sort of response. Two experiences on the phone trying to get answers were especially shocking in their rudeness. This was absolutely the worst management experience I have had as an adult. Management was often rude on the phone and difficult to deal with. Multiple phone conversations with management seemed to have been forgotten by them immediately because requests never became realities without further phone calls. I regret signing the lease in the first place after they changed the price between our confirmation and lease signing, but it was too late to search for another. I just moved out of the Brandywine after living there for 2 years. I was a student at American University, so the commute was as good as it gets (I could walk easily). We were also really close to the Van Ness metro so it was really easy to get downtown. The building was priced really well so even on a student's budget, it was affordable. The apartments were bright and clean and had updated appliances. The best part of the building was the staff. If we ever had a complaint, they would send someone from maintenance to fix whatever was wrong that same day. The front desk was very friendly and made an effort to learn our names. The leasing office was great too. Overall, a great place full of great people. read more

We LOVE the Brandywine! We have lived here for five years and are leaving with heavy hearts. The apartments (we were in a 2b/ba) are spacious and bright, clean, and well-maintained. We love our view from the 8th floor of tree tops; it's amazing to watch storms roll in or see the snow fall from this vantage point. The building staff are wonderful - warm, welcoming, responsive, and flexible. Maintenance requests are dealt with quickly and efficiently. The communal spaces are lovely and have only improved since we've lived here. There are now two grills for tenant's use, new washing machines and dryers in the laundry room, along with nice new furniture on the patio and roof top deck. The building does building-wide events throughout the year - pizza night, hot dog night, holiday party, catered brunch - all of which are tasty and really create a sense community in the building. The fellow residents range from young to old, across every ethnicity, and we have made some lasting friendships here. During winter storms, families with young kids, like us, gather in the party room so the kids can run around a bit and play. Also, the building never loses power. Not once in my five years here. The Brandywine is in a great location - walkable to metro, Cleveland Park, Tenleytown, Chevy Chase, and the commercial establishments in the Van Ness area. It's right across the street from a wonderful playground that is being renovated and will be even better as of September 2014. There is parking available in the building, but we've never had trouble parking on the street. During winter storms, we would often rent a spot in the lot for a few days or weeks, depending on the severity of the weather, and the building was always happy to accommodate. There is also a hospitality apartment in the building available for rent which is super convenient when family is coming to visit. In short, I treasure my time at the Brandywine and am so sad to leave. It is a wonderful place to live, and I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone! read more

I am an old lady who has lived at the Brandywine for 6 years, in 2 different apartments. I am now in a 1BR/1bath and like the other apartment it has wonderful closet space. It has been a great place to live, for all the reasons cited in so many of the other posts: excellent/capable/friendly management and staff, great location and price, indoor garage parking, occasional social hours, local bulletin board. I only wish the apartments had their own washer and dryer - a very long walk to the community laundry room, and likewise to the package room to pick up large mail/packages. RCN and Comcast service the building, and their services are reliable and timely. read more

After 3 years of living in The Brandywine, I have nothing but compliments to give. The apartments are very spacious and clean, and the kitchen has everything one needs. The facilities are well maintained and always a pleasure to use. My personal favorite was the rooftop. There is nothing like coming home at the end of a summer day and just sitting down to relax on the roof. The best part though is not what the building has to offer but the staff and the management team that run it. The friendliness, generosity, and understanding of the management team gives the tenants a feeling of security. They will go above and beyond for you. Maintenance will never leave you hanging and fix any problem you have in a matter of hours. From the package room staff and the front desk team to maintenance and the management team, the high quality of the people is what makes this building such a pleasure to live in. The building is located in a great neighborhood just a short 7 minutes walk from the Van-Ness red line metro stop. Between the metro stop and the building one can find an amazing bakery, different coffee shops, dry cleaning, banks, grocery stores, and even a Starbucks. In addition to the metro line, the L bus lines stop right outside of the building and will take you all the way downtown. At the same time, a short walk to Tenleytown will put you on Wisconsin Ave where you can hop on a bus to Georgetown. As a whole, The Brandywine is a great place to live in and this is the fist place I will recommend when it comes to living in DC. read more

These apartments are the best in the area, and for the best price. The management of the building is very professional, very friendly and very helpful. Since the first day in these apartments they offer all their resources to try to feel us comfortable, and they succeeded with an A+++ !!! :) Regarding the amenities of the apartment, there is a gym, is not a huge one, but it has two treadmills, two cycles, one stair-machine, one elliptical, some weights and one room to practice yoga, pilates... and also a virtual trainer! There is two BBQ places, one on the amazing roof top and one in level 2 (which is one floor under the main entrance of the building) The party room is big and has TV and a kitchen, so is very convenient to hangout with people without being worried to disturb to your neighbors! The laundry room has a lot of machines and the package room is very convenient, since the schedule is really good. In summary, I really recommend The Brandywine Apartments. For me and my wife, our experience in this building have been awesome! read more
