This review should have been posted a few years ago. I am posting it now because everytime I pop the hood of my 1965 Cadillac I'm reminded of how some auto repair establishments do not do what the customer asks. That once they do as they wish the customer has to pay up to get their vehicle back.
We took our 1965 Cadillac into the Brake Shop to have the belts and hoses checked and get a tuneup. They had the car for over a week. When they finally called us to pick up the Cadillac we were surprised at the cost of $1268.82. I asked them what they did. Their reply was, "We replaced your radiator with a new aluminum radiator, replaced the thermostat and the gasket, replace the rear brake shoes including cleaning and lubing the back plate, we flush the transmission, and we replace the belt for the power steering and the alternator." WHAT??? We wanted the hoses and belts checked and a tuneup done! I asked for the original radiator back and was told it was disposed of before we got there. At the time the Cadillac had 66406 miles on it. The radiator did not need to be replaced. The replacement radiator is aluminum/PLASTIC! While installing the aluminum/PLASTIC radiator they broke off the overflow valves and glued it back on. At 67756 the glued on overflow valve falls off. That's only 1326 miles on the new radiator. It can't be repaired so we now have to replace the radiator.
Granted this is a vintage vehicle which is driven less then 400 miles per year. It is garaged and covered, but when I popped the hood recently I was once again reminded of how we were treated by the Brake Shop. read more
