I attempted to use The Box Place for an auction shipment, but gave up due to the insufficient communication I experienced in trying to work with them. It is often difficult to reach them by phone, their voicemail is full, and attempts to reach them via email go without replies. I finally received an estimate after multiple reminder calls and waiting a week to receive it, and then never received a follow up email on a very simple question about the estimate. The Box Place in Colerain Township isn't the most interesting store, but for what it offers it is a very good local business. The Box Place has been up and running since 1986, and as it reads on the outside window, it's the "One stop for your packaging needs." The Box Place has just a ton of boxes and other shipping items, from corrugated boxes and custom run boxes to gift boxes and jewelry boxes, as well as mailers and envelopes. I also saw a large collection of ribbons and bows, while they have tissue paper, crinkle shred, and all kinds of other items to make the packages you are sending look good too. The Box Place is an authorized shipping agent for UPS, but they also offer a variety of cards and unique gifts. I saw magnets, mugs, gift wrap, stuffed animals (including many Puffkins), picture frames (including sport specific frames), photo albums, and board games, just to name some of the items. They also have a golf section and offer some items related to local teams. They even have 30-cent Cincinnati postcards, although that does seem a bit odd for a store out in Colerain Township to have. The majority of their gifts are small items and aren't too expensive, so it is a good place to find a little something if you are in the area. Heck, you could even slip in a little gift into a package you are sending. Other services that the 22-year-old store offers include a fax service and the transferring of home movies, photos, and slides onto VHS or DVD. While they do have some decent little gifts, the main thing is that they can meet basically all of your shipping and packaging needs at reasonable prices. After passing by this place countless times, I finally found the need to enter into this store. Don't let the birdfeeders and knick knacks in the window distract you from the true purpose of this place: packaging and shipping! I had something to return to Amazon that was too large for a drop off box. I came in to this store, and the friendly staff immediately offered their assistance. I needed a box, and without skipping a beat, the woman walked off and found the perfect size box at the "best price", she assured me. (I no doubt believed her, it was very affordable.) The very next week, I needed to ship something with tracking to send and receive the package back. They ran over the numbers of how much it would cost to send via USPS, UPS, and FedEx, and where I could save the most money. SCORE! Because of my previous good experiences, when I had a large box of clothing to send- of course I took it back to the Box Place! Again, they did the work of finding out how much it would cost via all my different options, to save me money. It was great! Everytime I've been in here, the staff (no matter how busy) has been extremely friendly and gracious. There have always been others in the store that were chatting and seemably having a good time. I had stopped at the post office with a package I needed to return to Ebay, where I was informed that they could not (would not) print out my return label. They suggested I try the library, and then come back. I saw myself spending a frustrating hour or two, driving from location to location, trying to find someone to print out my mailing label. Then I remembered The Box Place. I drove straight over, and Rob could not have been nicer or more helpful. He printed out the label, secured the package, put it with his outgoing mail, gave me the corresponding paperwork, and, didn't charge me a cent! As Rob said to me, "Don't bother with the post office. I have been shipping UPS through The Box Place for some time now... no complaints at all. I haven't done a detailed comparison, but I am pretty sure their prices are in line with Staples, etc... maybe even lower. Definitely lower than, say, the UPS Store. The folks who work at the Box Place are really nice, too. If you need a UPS tracking number, make sure you ask for it; they don't generally print the labels and generate the numbers right when you drop the package off, but they are more than happy to email you the tracking number(s) later that day. I've never had to buy boxes or shipping supplies from these guys, but it looks like they have a great selection if you need that. read more

Called to get prices on shipping containers. The sales clerk was extremely impatient, quoted me prices that increased with greater volume, then basically said I wasn't allowed to ask any more questions about their other products. When I said I had another question, she said that was all, and that she was going to hang up because "she is the company bitch." The Box Place has been a Godsend for me over the past 3 yrs. I am disabled and use a quad cane to get around and I have difficulty getting my packages to the post office to send to my son who is in the Air Force. After passing by their shop one day I decided to give them a try. So I pulled up to the front of the store and started to get my boxes out of my car when a kind gentleman came out with a cart and said he would take care of getting my packages out of my car to ship to my son who was stationed in California at the time. It turned out that the gentleman who was so kind and helpful was the owner Robert! He informed me that I didn't need to box everything up but to just bring it up to the store and he would pack up all the irregular gifts I was sending to my son and his family and he would find the cheapest route in which to send them - UPS, FedX etc. The packages always get there when he says they will arrive and it is a relief to have him troubleshoot the best and most economical way to send my packages according to the size of the box and route they were being sent! His staff is always attentive and very helpful with sending packages even when I am sending them around the holidays to my sister-In-Law in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska -- the furthest northern point in Alaska up on the oil slopes! Her packages have always arrived on time and in great condition! I am so grateful to have the Box Place in my neighborhood and to have such great service being disabled! This place is awesome!! My husband and I were going crazy trying to find the perfect size box to fit our bulky airline check in items AND meet airline size requirements. We checked fed ex, ups, and staples but no one had a box that worked...until we found the box place. We drove 25 min to get here, and it was totally worth it. Not only did they find the perfect sized box from their huge selection but also packaged it up for us. They even gave us a handle and twine so we can carry our large box through the airport.
