Fun neighbourhood bar. About 10 beers on tap. Waitresses and guy at the door are friendly. The food is fine for a bar. Wash room is clean.

My server was the fantastic Jackie. Down-to-earth friendliness, efficient and helpful. We got along very well. I opted for their Fortunella Gin with Tonic. Fantastic flavors and quite smooth. Two of those and I was feeling fine. For lunch I ordered the Steak Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The salad was substantial and tasty. The steak sandwich had good flavor, but was tougher and fattier than I hoped for. Jackie also offered exceptional assistance with some merchandise I bought as well. My first visit to Last Best will not be my last. Thanks Jackie!

This was our first stop after landing from San Diego and we both enjoyed our visit. It was a…read moreTuesday evening, so the place was a little quiet, but it looked like there was plenty of room for big and small groups. Started with the gyoza and salt & pepper wings. The wings stole the show; they were crispy and flavorful. I asked for a side of their buffalo sauce and LOVED it. I got the chicken sandwich after that. I wish it had a little more sauce, but still enjoyed it. The side of fries were nicely crisped and tasty as well. My partner order the curry rice bowl with tofu. She enjoyed it, and appreciated how much tofu was in the dish. The beer was great too, which was a pleasant surprise coming from the San Diego beer scene. Finally, our waitress was super friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend stopping by.

We visited last night and started off on a high note with an excellent wine selection. The…read moresommelier, Bobby, was fantastic--knowledgeable and personable. The wine list isn't huge, but what they offer is curated and impressive. We ordered the Wedge Salad and Truffled Arancini. Both arrived about 15 minutes later. The salad was underdressed, and the Arancini, while hot, lacked the tomato sauce that would have elevated the dish. Minor issues, but we moved on. Unfortunately, the main course experience was disappointing. After waiting 45 minutes, our entrees finally arrived--at room temperature. At that point, we were too hungry to send them back and wait another 20 minutes. When we shared our concerns, the staff initially offered complimentary desserts, which felt inadequate given the circumstances. After further discussion, they comped both entrees and provided a $25 gift certificate, which was a fair gesture and appreciated. The GM and Bobby personally apologized and invited us to ask about "little surprises" in the wine cellar next time, which was a nice touch. Overall, great wine and recovery effort, but the kitchen timing and food temperature need serious improvement. Hoping for a better experience next time because the potential is there.

I followed the more than 48 hour rule to cancel the room without penalty and was told that its was during their blackout period and should have read the fine print. I'm really not even sure if that is legal. The hotel takes the full amount of the charge for the room at the time of booking, not at the time of check in and keeps the money regardless of when you cancel if it falls "in their black out period" that is not clearly identified when booking those dates. You better not have plans change or have a family emergency! RIP OFF. Buyer beware, do not book.

I…read moreabsolutely loved my meal here and thought it was good value when considering the USD to CAD exchange rate. They give you the whole description of each dish upon delivery and I love that everyone pitches in and isn't necessarily delivered by an assigned waitress. Starting with the Cold Shuck Scallop which was basically a flower that I was instructed to squish and eat. The sauce permeated the flakes. The second dish was a Shokunin Handcone with seaweed straight from Japan. I liked the progressions from the raw to the 5 skewers consisting of: Shiitake Mushroom, Chicken Oyster, Chicken Wingette, Thigh dipped in tare, and Chicken Ass. These are served with a soy egg dip and side dishes. I didn't need any refills with so much food but they were good! All is the chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. I liked that they all tasted slightly differently and who would've thought they had chicken ass. Apparently it was so popular that you can only get it with the omakase now. The Wagyu Pastrami Burnt Ends were a cherry on top for the chicken. One of my favorites was the Yellow Chicken Bone Broth which was pure, simple, and delicious. I could drink this all day! Finally, the Sake Kasu Tiramisu was a unique deconstructed take on a classic. You can't ever go wrong with these flavors! The service overall was great. Loved watching all if the chefs at their stations. They were busy and on top of everything. The only things I can nitpick about: refilling water and knowing that I preordered the omakase. Other than that, they were perfect!

Restaurant wasn't terribly busy - probably because it was Super Bowl Sunday!!! Seated promptly - there are only four seats for the omakaze experience. You have a view of all the preparation of the food - sat right in front of the charcoal grill which emanated heat through the glass. The starts of the experience - the Hokkaido scallop and the chicken ass (only available on the omakaze experience and cannot be ordered in the regular dining room now). Never felt rushed, unlimited sides. Only thing that could be improved is difficulty hearing the server and chef over the background music and restaurant noise. Also some of the background music didn't seem to suit the environment (pretty sure I heard some Dr Dre!!)
