The Bowery Myrtle Beach, SC_Yelp_Sanju-9

while researching, I have read about Bowery, its historic roots, live music, and vibe. while coming from Broadway at the beach, we stopped here for a couple of beers. we sat outside, ocean smooth breeze with a cold beer and bad chicken tenders (too much fried- too bad), also there was live music going on The Bowery bar provides a great night of live rock and country music, bar food, and well-priced pitchers of beer. When in the area, be sure to set aside an evening to enjoy a night of rock at The Bowery Myrtle Beach.

It's a country bar with a house band. Didn't care for the drinks but we enjoyed the music. Friendly staff. We parked off the strip because it's way too expensive to find a spot nearby. Stayed open til 2 but they closed quarter til 1. Plenty of seats in and outdoors and it was a lot of fun.

Sat outside here and had some lunch from Duffy's. Have to say the food was really good. It is kind of an iconic place here on the boardwalk given it was where Alabama played. We have also been here in the evening, for a new years as a matter of fact and it is wide open. The lunch time is a different vibe and is definetly nice and laid back

Stopped in early on a Saturday night with the family, 5 of us. Not a big space, so we took the only table in the restaurant capable of seating five. Restaurant was really a bar area with tables surrounding it, and a small gift shop. A few sports games on the televisions, only a few drunks at the bar, not overly annoying. Waitress was very good, and food was good. We had wings, mozzarella sticks, burgers and salads. I wouldn't recommend the wings, they just had a strange taste. Otherwise, place was cool, prices were good, service was excellent.

Didn't try the food due to smoking in the bar. But the service was nice and the inside looks just as dated as the outside. Super hole in the wall dive bar. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Other than the smoking we would have stayed longer.

Best burger I've had in a while, and you can't go wrong with carney fries. Awesome party atmosphere but "laid back" at the same time. Great local live music. Service was excellent, give respect get respect.

Tony and I walked up to the Bowery from our hotel room. It was a short 10 minute hike and the weather was so lovely. We went inside wearing our masks and grabbed a seat near the front of the establishment. I was surprised to see that they allowed smoking inside. It was fine just alarming. We ordered our drinks, Tony a Budweiser since no PBR available, myself a Coca cola and we shared a basket of mushrooms. our waiter was very nice and timely. We will definitely recommend and go back again ourselves if in the area.

Service was good. The food could've been better, burgers were dry and the food took FOREVER.

They had live music and plenty of outside seating! Duffy's is located here as well. There was a laid back vibe and it was very inviting!

Hated paying to park. But the server and host were awesome. The crab legs were ok about a three on a five scale. Just not flavorful or loaded The tomatoe bisque was flavorful and the fish and chips were great the fish was light and tasty. The slaw was a train wreck. Whoever thought to make it savory instead of sweet missed the mark. The flavors of the slaw clashed with the rest of the plate. The fish was tasty and the chips were seasoned well and plentiful. We could return here and feel ok with it.

There was also live music the evening we were there which was just lovely. Steven, our server shared the evening specials and was very attentive to us throughout our meal. Our table enjoyed delicious margaritas, the Autumn Power salad - fresh spinach, dried cranberries, fresh apple slices, and a refreshing dressing. The crab legs were delicious, two clumps with butter and lemons. We also had the shrimp and fries- 8 large shrimp lightly breaded with shoestring fries. Our land lover enjoyed the Reel burger- a juicy combination of chuck and brisket cooked to order. The bun was toasted and held up well to the burger. Overall the experience was very enjoyable. While the food was good. It was the excellent atmosphere and service that took the experience over the top for us.

We were promptly seated and drink orders were taken. The waiter reappeared about 15 mins later with drinks and cheese rolls and took the table's order. We settled on the Aspen family meal which consisted of 2 meats and 4 sides. We chose smothered pork tenderloin and fried chicken along with mac 'n cheese, collard greens, fried okra and candied yams. Fried chicken was awesome, crispy, with an assortment of dark and white meat pieces. We were looking for a knife because of the pork tenderloin and realized you don't need it. It was that tender. You could cut it with a fork and it too was awesome. Everyone raved about all the side items except the mac & cheese it was a bit on the bland side so it was not our favorite. There was no need for a refill of any of the food. The first round was very ample sized and everyone left very satisfied. And if I have a bit of feedback, our waiter was not attentive unlike the waitress serving the tables in our same area. He was didn't bother to come back and see if we needed a refill on any of the drinks or the food. The only disappointing thing was they no longer offer you a small sample size dessert to finish up your meal. It's been a while since I've dined here so I'm not sure how long that change has been in place. However, we understand the food industry continues to be impacted by the current economy. Overall, the restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms. It's a nice place to feed a large family who hates buffets.

Will say the area, the location, the draw and the atmosphere is fantastic, but not the food. Our family and left disappointed by the overall quality of the meal, particularly given the establishment's reputation and the high price point. The cost for 4 people exceeded our expectations an amount that felt disproportionate to the overall experience provided. The service was adequate. Our waitress was courteous, but could have kept up on our drink refills. The food fell significantly short of our heightened anticipation. Dishes arrived at the table within minutes of ordering, far quicker than would be consistent with individual dish preparations. This is served family style with options of your main courses and sides. The okra was good, but had some very hard pieces. I bit down on one that was so hard it could have broken a tooth. Green beans were decent, but extremely salty. The creamed potatoes were the best thing in my opinion and we were able to be served both the white & brown gravy's. The fried chicken was so dry and uneatable, with extremely minimal flavor and texture that did not meet standard expectations for Southern-style preparation. We realized after the fact: you can request the chicken parts. The macaroni & cheese tasted mushy offering little depth of homemade character. The biscuits were also very dry. They looked great, but tasted bland. The fried fish & tartar sauce was probably the most memorable dish. However, not everyone in our party had it because they do not like it. There's other options for "main" choices, but you'll have to compromise as a group. You'll have to do the same as far as the sides too! I would not recommend Paula Deen's Family Restaurant based on this visit and would advise potential patrons to consider other options for Southern comfort food while in Myrtle Beach. There are many more options within this great broad-walk complex. That said, I would suggest shopping in the gift door downstairs of the building, as there are lots of merchandise that represents Paula Deen far better than her eatery. * If you happen to be a Food Network FAN (like I am). Flavor Town is coming to the other side of town. Location will be at the Myrtle Beach Mall & will open in June 2026*
