I lived in the "newer" section of these apartments from September 2017 to June of 2019- and yes, I'd recommend living elsewhere. Although these apartments look nice and the location is great, I have to second all of these reviews that management and maintenance are a nightmare.
By my building, there was a small parking lot that filled up fast in the evenings. Most of the people in my building tried to park there. However, if it was full, instead of just driving around the other side of the building and parking (where there were always plenty of spots), people would consistently "make up" parking spots in front of fire hydrants, in fire lanes, and in narrow alleys- making it hard to navigate around when you're trying to get out. Most of the time, this happened in the evenings when the office was closed. I made several reports to management and included pictures, but this issue wasn't addressed for over 4 months (and after several calls to corporate). As a nurse, it made me extremely uncomfortable to have my apartment's fire lanes and hydrants blocked every night.
The pool monitor situation is definitely out of control. For the summer of 2018, Boulevard hired an outside company to monitor the pools on weekends. At first, I was appreciate of this because prior to the pool monitors, some residents thought it would be ok to have crazy frat parties every weekend (with 30 of their closest friends). For those of us that are paying to enjoy the amenities, this was not relaxing. However, this "outside company" pool monitor took his job way too seriously. I frequented the pool often on weekends and always had my pool pass- same coverup and hat everyday, so you would think he'd start to recognize me as someone who could legitimately be there. One morning, I was entering the pool when it was vacant (it had just stopped raining, so no one else was there yet). As I'm buzzing in, I hear this screaming from across the parking lot: "WHERE IS YOUR POOL PASS?"! This pool monitor comes running out of a parked car, chasing me down for my pool pass when 1) I'm there all the time dude, recognize the hat and coverup? 2) I have a fob that gets me in, so I'm likely legit and 3) No one else is there, so chill out for a second. Once I show him my pool pass, he entered the pool and continued to stare at me while I was trying to lay out. I mean, seriously? When I left in June of 2019, I hadn't seen the outside security company at the pools, so maybe they only hired them for one summer- but good grief.
If you submit a maintenance request, it will be at least 10 business days before you hear anything (unless, say, your apartment is burning down). They were so understaffed for the number of apartments, it was unbelievable. I had to follow-up every couple of days to remind them that I'm still waiting. Each time, the office would be like "What, he hasn't been there?" (as if they were surprised). Once, I was having company for the weekend and said I would like to have my issue resolved before my company came (it had been over a week since I submitted the maintenance request). The office promised me that they would be there by Friday at 6 PM. Nope, that didn't happen. They really need to hire more maintenance techs, because for the amount of money you're paying, it's just not acceptable.
The Parcel Pending package system is also a mess. They make you put your credit card on file for the lockers so that if your package stays too long without being picked up, you're charged. This is all fine and dandy except when the locker system screws up and all the numbers have to be reset. I received 4 codes one day but only had 2 packages- the other 2 codes didn't work. I called the company and they said that I only received 2- and that the locker machine had to be "reset" and that's why I received 4 codes for my 2 packages. I found out a month later when reviewing my credit card bill that I had been charged because the locker system thought I hadn't picked up 2 packages from the old/reset codes. It took about a month to get this refunded...awesome.
I moved out on June 15 and just received my security deposit back yesterday (September 27). I had left my forwarding address when I turned in my keys, so I'm not sure what the delay was. According to Ohio law, landlords are supposed to return security deposits within 30 days of move-out. Obviously, this company doesn't follow that law.
The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because there is a girl in the office named Jenn who is really sweet and really tried to help when she could. A lot of it (particularly the maintenance delays), were out of her hands, but she at least seemed to care. The rest of the office staff turned over several times in my 21 months of residence. read more
