Venison entree 10/30/21
Ashley S.

I wanted to come here because it's a passport stop for the craft cocktail trail and I heard good things about their food. This place is incredibly expensive and fancy. It looks like they change their menu frequently. We tried the fried quail appetizer which was amazing, the fried okra salad and the Venison entree. I was entirely too full for dessert and was shocked at how expensive the place is. Final bill was $180.

We came to The Bottle for our 5th anniversary dinner. We don't go to a ton of fancy/fine dining type places but we had a gift card and it seemed right for the occasion. Overall, I'm not sure it's worth it for us for the price (~$130 with tip for two entrees, dessert, and tea/coke, no alcohol), but we had an enjoyable time and I can see why it's such a popular spot for celebrations and such. Tucked just off the square next to Humphrey's (they might even share a kitchen), The Bottle is upscale, intimate, and cozy. It's pretty textbook/prototypical fancy restaurant: lots of leather, soft warm lighting, vaguely jazzy music, etc. The menus are short and sweet, with mostly fish and steak dishes. Our dining experience ran like a well-oiled machine -- we were served promptly and our dishes (bread, then salad, then entree, then dessert) came out one after another with just barely enough breathing room between courses to catch up. You can definitely have the whole experience here in an hour and a half or so if you're on a time crunch or something. We never felt rushed, really; it was just impressive to observe. Oddly enough, one of my biggest nitpicks was the service. Our main server was just kind of...awkward, I guess, which I don't really expect at a place like this. She was polite and got the food out on time but just felt very robotic and nervous -- I tried to strike up very brief polite conversation, cracked a few jokes while she was clearing our plates, and she just sort of chuckled very awkwardly and didn't say a word back. It was just strange. That aside, we were overall content and happy enough with our food. The warm bread with garlicky honey butter (sounds weird but it totally worked) was a nice start and the Caesar salads were fresh and had abundant croutons, which made me happy. I had the petite filet with whipped potatoes and boyfriend got the blacked redfish with risotto and crawfish etoufee. Their online menu isn't up to date as it stated online it was grouper, not redfish, but no great loss. I think I got the better meal, as boyfriend stated he liked his meal but wished he'd gotten steak instead. I didn't try it because I don't do fish, haha. As it was, my steak was insanely tender and melted in my mouth. Super savory and flavorful. I like my potatoes more on the chunky mashed side but these were good, too. We rounded out the night with a vanilla caramel cake for dessert. We were hoping for chocolate pound cake as that caught our eye on the online menu, but alas, this menu was different than that one. Sadly, dessert was definitely the weakest link of the experience. The cake was very dry and dense and the coconut type icing on top was saccharine and gritty. There was a sort of caramel...I dunno, icing, painted on the plate at the bottom that improved the dish a good bit, but there wasn't enough of it and overall the cake just wasn't that good. So that was a letdown. In sum, though, a nice experience for a celebration or special event. I would consider returning. I'll continue slowly working my way through the finer dining options in Huntsville as time and budget permits, lol.

The bottle outdid themselves tonight. Thank you! Everything was great. Who has the coveted murder point oysters? You do! Yum! Raw and delicious yes shucked a little ham handedly with shell pieces but I didn't care. The MP exquisiteness came thru. Into entrees everything from lamb to pasta to scallops were executed flawlessly. As we enter a new season in life thanks for making it delicious! Highly recommend both in terms of cheerful gracious service and exceptional eats. Merry Christmas!

Everything was subpar. My boyfriend and I chose this place as a late valentines dinner. Reservation was at 5pm, right at opening, which I'm thankful for because by the time we left, the place was so packed, like a nightclub packed. Insane. The hostess didn't greet us and she was wearing a sweatshirt with jeans, not a good look for an upscale restaurant. She also didn't guide us to the table or explain that we were going up an elevator, it was like we were supposed to know what was happening even though we've never been there before. Service was ok. Although our server was very kind and we could tell she was busy, they all seemed to be very unprepared. It took a while to get my samples of wine and even longer for the actual wine to arrive and the glasses were dirty. We order the soup of the day, gumbo, but were later informed they were out and offered us tomato bisque. We opted out but they tried to deliver it to the table anyways. The bottle rocket shrimp appetizer was very good, perfect flavor and just a little spicy. My venison steak was delicious, the venison sausage had a distinctive flavor, good but not for me. Fingerling potatoes were not fingerling, just actual whole roasted potatoes with little seasoning. My boyfriend had the filet with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. Filet was cooked perfectly but everything was lukewarm. Very unprofessional for an "upscale dining experience" and the price. The dining area upstairs was 63° (I saw the thermostat) and I was so uncomfortable the whole time. We had very high hopes for this place, saved it for a special occasion and were not impressed.

This is such a cute, quaint place. The chef came out and spoke with us, that was so cool! You can tell it's an old, historic building and the decor was old supper club vibe. Super fun. Seven co-workers stopped in for dinner. We started with the cheese plate and charcuterie board. Both were good, but the charcuterie board was better. The cheeses all had a fruit jam or jelly poured on top and I don't really like that. I got the filet and was a member of the clean plate club. It was cooked to perfection, the mashed potatoes and veggies were also yummy. The salads looked good, too (I saw Caesar, fried okra and wedge).

Was a little nervous at first as the room we were sat in was very warm but staff QUICKLY adjusted the thermostat to our preference! Top notch service and food from drinks, apps, and entrees! Their new rose cocktail was devine, the quail was crispy and so tasty and the salmon/ scallops were some of the best I've ever had. My dad and fiancé ordered the duck and the filet and we're both very impressed!! They did run out of the crème brûlée but brought us out free ice cream to apologize, not what we wanted but a nice gesture!! We will definitely be back!

I always come here everyone in a while, the food and service is always amazing. I come up to the bar, Avery always does his best to make sure that service is always top notch. He's always great with drinks, gives great recommendations, gives you new things to try, overall he know's what you want to try. The vibes and atmosphere is always calm and professional. I had the muscles and they were honestly the best thing I've had. I'm not a fan of muscles, but I like to keep trying things and seeing how differently everything is made. These muscles are the best thing I've had.

The food was so good. We filled up on the charcuterie board and got to take the rest of our amazing food home. The atmosphere was very friendly. Is this place expensive? sure ,but in my opinion it's worth it. Out waitress was so sweet. Highly recommend.

I did not check out the bathrooms. The decor and lighting were all good. The food was really good, and our server was decent she was friendly but seemed like she had too many tables. I got a seafood boil with shrimp and crawfish and blue crab, The blue crab was a little disappointing as I though it was going to be just legs as most places would do but they put whole crabs in there which of course you can't eat 99% of a crab so it was just for the weight as you pay by the pound. Food was seasoned really good and it was all delicious.

Wanted seafood and what better choice than a boil. I went with combo 1 (snow crab, shrimp,…read moresausage, boiled eggs, potatoes, corn on the cobb). The seasoning choice is next, I did the juicy (cajun, garlic butter, lemon pepper). And finally choose the heat. I went medium and you could feel slight heat, a step up to hot would have been ok. The boil itself was good. You must use the gloves and bib, don't worry about cool points you are there to eat. The flavors of the juicy was great and all the seafood was seasoned nicely. The corn was excellent. And service was super fast. The portions are good, I know snow crab is a challenge to get the meat since the legs are thin. The flavor was good with a lot of work. Recommend the king crab.

We'd never heard of it and having recently returned from the gulf I was feeling rather smug about seafood. What could this Chuck know about it all? Feeling adventurous, we decided to walk over and check it out after eating an entire pizza. Pizza was pretty good. Chuck's Fish was epic. I love that there's no TV at the bar. I love the decor. I love the fact that the namesake was a civil rights attorney. I love the fact that I can get incredible sashimi and order our daughter a pizza that is just as good as the joint across the street. The decor in here is absolutely beautiful. Our server Stephanie was the sweetest ever. She gave us recommendations and helped us navigate choices on the menu. I opted for a glass of their rosé while he got their old fashioned, wasn't his favorite since they did not have Buffalo Trace. He's not a fan of Bulleit. However he was alright with it. We got the Cowboy sushi roll and snapper necks as appetizers. Both very flavorful and cooked well. Having Louisiana hot sauce was the icing on the cake for him. Entrees we got were both mainly red snapper, he got it Parmesan crusted and I went for bronzed because it came with mango salsa over rice pilaf. He had risotto. Both dishes were very good, however they definitely could have benefited from a bit more salt (in our opinion). Green beans were cooked extremely well. We both cleaned our plates! As for desserts I went for the bread pudding and he opted for the creme brûlée since he had never had any. Bread pudding was absolutely immaculate and I'm glad Steph talked me into adding ice cream. He wished he had gotten my dessert after trying it but his creme brûlée was still pretty decent. Not a big custard guy. Overall this was a great experience and to help others gauge their bill, we spend a little under $200 before the tip. Not extremely cheap but not overly expensive. We just like trying it all - drinks, apps, entrees and desserts. Would love to come back soon!

Our server was great. Wouldn't take anything from Andrea. She took good care of us and check on us often making sure we had everything we needed. Overall I feel like for a $150 tab the dinner was a complete let down. Also the temperature of the food was subpar. It felt as if they just warmed it up a little and brought it out.
