The place is dimly light throughout, so whether you come here daytime or night, you get the same experience... Candles make up most of the ambience in here, very inviting! Staff are always friendly, greeting you with a smile and always happy to accommodate you whether it's an intimate table for 2 or a group booking. There is often live music, whether it's a piano player or live singer/band it makes for a nice drink spot at the weekends. Also great for a pre or post dinner drinks! Place offers a full bar so you can get all the usuals you'd expect of a bar however this place is also doing some fantastic things with their cocktail menu... Some interesting and very unique drink concoctions plus let's not go with calling out their unusual presentations, I just got served a gin cocktail in a bathtub with a rubber duck... Was called Bathtub Gin Time which is a serving for 2, oh my it was yummy and refreshing plus topped with a lavender and rose foam, it literally smelled like a freshly run bath tub! I love to visit here and always recommend it to my friends, am excited to tick off another drink from their cocktail menu very soon! Build your own Mimosa sounds appealing, so that might be the next one.

There is always plenty of people frequenting this place. It is pretty busy at the weekends and especially St. Stephens day with the crowd from the Leopardstown races popping in after. Great bar food. Great award winning restaurant upstairs called Greens. Now for the piesta resistance - the cocktail carousel bar- and it revolves! After you are served fantastic cocktails by the award winning mixologists you may be confused if you leave your seat and return perplexed scratching your head thinking 'hmm I'm sure I left my seat here'. Dont worry though it will come around shortly! Great place , great atmosphere and great staff. Free WFi.

Its new extension dubbed 'Carousel cocktail bar' is pretty unique and if you can get over the awful decoration you can enjoy the revolving carousel bar, see what thats like after a few pints. New refurbishment aside, the rest of the pub hasn't really changed. They still serve decent pints, cocktails and dish up a Carvery lunch everyday. The portions are huge and its no surprise the place is always jammed at lunchtime. Theres also bar food if you just want to have a snack. It's pretty standard pub stuff chicken goujons, scampi, fish & chips. As always gets a big local attendance, Sunday lunchers and the crowd on the way to club 92.

As a result the closest and most convenient sample of civilisation was in the form of Sandyford House - but a 5 min walk from my house (and 20 min stagger home). It is big and pink and truthfully not the most inviting place from the outside. Inside it is warm, comfortable with lots of different sections and bits of wall made from bottles and concrete (for that 70s touch). The drinks are not crippling expensive and the food (they have quite a big menu) is pretty good. I have since learned how to drive and can go further afield but still pop in from time to time, not a bad wee spot at all!

(Brew Dock, Against the Grain, Alfie Byrne's and The Black Sheep being the others.) I called in here for some food and a drink on a Sunday afternoon and wasn't disappointed, they've a good selection of beer as with their sister pubs and I thought the food was great value. I'd a session beer, Table, at 3.5% it was perfect for the daytime. I had a snack box of chicken two-ways, onion rings and chips with a couple of tasty dips and my parents had fish and chips. My beer cost €4 and snack box €9 which is good value and perhaps a response to the chain that shall not be named who have set up down the road. I'll definitely call out again when I get the chance.

But then again, maybe the fact that it's more like a local pub does add to its charme. It goes over two builidngs so you can sit in the smaller part or a bigger part - as well depending if you want to see a match on the big screen or not. The prices are average niveau and their craft beer is normal price too. But their Saturday offer for 2 mains for 1 on a Saturday (4-9pm) is unbeatable. I tried their beef burger and their snack box (not the same night!). And enjoyed both. But I was definitely pleasently surprised by the snack box for €9. Both for the presentation (see the picture I took) and the size. I was well fed afterwards and I was hungry when I came in.

For those of you not familiar with The Beacon complex, it forms a huge chunk of part of the Sandyford industrial estate. With a private hospital being the main feature and the hotel next door. Having not stayed in the hotel I can't comment on the rooms but if the bar is anything to go by the place is certainly worth a visit. The Crystal bar is chic and modern and were it in central Dublin probably horribly exclusive. Its not however, and the place feels laid back and welcoming. It didn't seem to suffer from 'hotel bar' syndrome and the busy restaurant at the back had as many locals as guests. We parked in the cosy and heated beer garden or 'Courtyard' and ordered off the mainly Thai menu. Duck spring rolls and vegetable soup were served within minutes and were delicious. Although we didn't have any mains I'm pretty sure they'd be up to scratch too. The Crystal Bar despite its plush surroundings is comfortable and relaxing. So come for a pint and then head in next door for a nose job maybe? Heads up to the staff as well who were speedy and all smiles. With the LUAS nearby its well served transport wise.

I was there on a Friday evening and it was very lively. In addition they had a live DJ. Not sure if that's every Friday, every night or just the odd night. It made the place even more lively but also a bit too loud. So if you go there to have a conversation without having to shout that won't work.
