Overpriced. Very overpriced. Most college bookstores are overpriced, but this one has an added feature: they sell used books almost exclusively for their textbooks. For the prices they charge, you can get the same book new online. The cafe in there is slow and doesn't have a very good food selection. That said, they do have a large selection of other books, lots of WSU logo stuff, and general school supplies. Useful if you need those things in a hurry. read more

This review pertains only towards the bookstore section of the bookie. I ordered rental used books (that were labeled as in stock) and after WEEKS the books still had not arrived!!! Every other day I called and (if they picked up, which 80% of the time they did not) I would be told that they should be there in 2 days and to call back then. Over the waiting period they increased the prices of the books, one at a time, until the total cost was 50% higher than when I ordered! After all that waiting I finally told them to cancel my order and the person at the bookie told me that they had cancelled my order successfully. A couple days later, I got an email FROM the bookie saying that they were unsuccessfully able to charge my account for books that I had already cancelled!! I ended up having to contact customer care to get the books cancelled. Would not recommend renting from here read more

I was a guest speaker at WSU, so I met a friend for coffee here, then went shopping to bring home souvenirs from my trip. I actually found dog biscuits with yogurt topping in the school colors, so my dog was a happy. A lot of things to choose from, great selection, good prices. read more

I can't say that this review is totally fair, since I have not been to the Bookie in years, thus have not been to the current location, but I am choosing to rate the Bookie of my college life - back when it was in its own building on the hill. Sure, it's pricey (then and now) and that hasn't changed - whether it was or was not owned by Barnes & Noble. But, what it does have is a bevy of interesting things to look at and to pass your time, should you have extended periods of time between classes and you're not *quite* in the mood to study. read more

When it comes to Cougar gear the Bookie obviously can supply. Not always at the lowest prices, but the quality is usually good. Overall, most things the Bookie is selling are pricier than at other places. Sometimes the Bookie is the only place you can get certain textbooks for class but if you don't need to, I would try to order books from elsewhere. Although, it is nice to just go in and pick up all your books. In the end it's a decision between convenience and money. As for art supplies, the Bookie doesn't always have the best quality. If you're supposed to get a art supplies kit for class I would pass on ordering it from the bookie and instead try to hit up Michael's in Moscow. What I can say about the Bookie though, is that they have a pretty good candy selection. read more

It seemed like a pretty run-of-the-mill, over-priced, corporate bookstore except that it is on a college campus. The one saving grace? Clinique counter! It's nice that there is someplace close to get my makeup done and replenish my product stock. The girls who work the counter are all (or mostly?) students, so they're younger and possibly more fashionable than the ladies who would do your makeup at Macy's. read more

Horrible service for overseas and military orders!! First, they make you place it via phone and they write down your credit card info, which is quite discomforting. They placed my order and promised an email confirmation that never occurred. Despite repeated warnings that they needed to ship priority, they shipped regular US mail that travels by boat to Europe. I ordered the book on December 30th and have not yet received it as of February 10th! Out of a seven week class, I have spent five of those without a text thus far. That has made it challenging to complete assignments and prevented me from succinctly learning the course material. If the school is going to offer online programs to students throughout the world, it needs the resources to support that. As a side note, I always order from Amazon and will continue to do so, but this text was custom made and only available through the Bookie. read more

Over priced is an understatement! I went in for note cards and found a decent selection, all unmarked with a price. I got to the counter and the total was over $33 for 3 small packs of note cards! When I asked the ditzy clerk how much the pack cost, she looked at me like I was speaking Sanskrit. She never spoke a word, simply pointed to the credit card reader and refused to answer my question or respond in any way. I had to look at my receipt to find they charge $13+ for a pack of 8 generic note cards! Hmmm, I can't imagine why Barnes & Noble stores are closing. Save yourself some money and frustration, go to Wal-Mart, Staples, Office Depot or the drug store, any where but here. read more

I recently placed on online order with the bookie for some prized coug gear. I even ordered one day shipping so I would be able to sport my crimson and gray asap! To my demise, I didn't receive any "your order is on its way" emails, or any emails at all, for about three days. Instead of finding out that my order was finally shipping, however, I found out there was a problem with my order. I wanted a long sleeve, but the description listed it as a tank. I appreciate that they wanted to make sure I wanted the long sleeve. So I called them back and was immediately placed on hold. For twenty minutes. Eventually someone picked up who said, and I quote, "Oh I'm not from this department, I was just walking by and the phone was ringing." I'm pretty sure she doesn't work at the bookie at all, in any department, because she had poor phone skills. Anyway, I left a message and requested a call back. I received none. Later I emailed the store, explaining my situation and the manager said she would call me soon after sending the email. Three days later and no phone call. Eventually I just called today and the manager said that she spoke to the staff and they reported calling me both today and yesterday! It seems to me that someone's lying and not doing their job. Meanwhile, I've been waiting a week for an order I paid 1-day shipping for, and in the end, the store couldn't process my credit card (even though I just bought something online with it yesterday...at crimson and gray no less.) Needless to say, I canceled my order. I hope that when I return to wazzu and Pullman, my experience with the Bookie in person will be more pleasant. But I am sticking to crimson and gray for all online orders from now on. I don't understand why I ran into so many issues with them. read more
