I stopped in here, because in my opinion, there is not much better than a book store combined with a coffee shop. Very cute. Evidently this is quite the hangout space. Employees are friendly, everything is neat, clean and well organized. Lots of locally sourced items for sale.

Such a good art spot! While visiting the Mandeville Lakefront, I decided to stop for coffee and pastries at The Bean since it had been recommended by Google Searches, and it was well worth it. The inside of the shop had beautiful art of many different mediums and reasonably priced, yet sturdy stone rings(which i bought one of). The coffee could've used a bit more flavoring but was overall fairly nice. Lastly, The Bean had GLUTEN FREE scones that were filling and wonderful! Go check it out! read more

I wish I came towards the Lakefront more often to visit this place! The coffee is always fresh, espresso is made perfectly, and you won't be disappointed with any of the food options. Today I had a breakfast burrito (eggs, hash brown, bacon, and cheese) and it was filling and delicious. Also had an iced coffee with oat milk and caramel syrup. It was the perfect balance of sweet, cream and coffee. Do yourself a favor and stop by here; there's seating outside and everyone here, employee or patron, are so friendly read more

This place has changed my coffee routine! I love coming into the book & the bean rather than chains. The food is delicious and the ladies are so lovely. Tons of gifts and books in the shop. The guard cat boots is always welcoming at the front door. Lol read more

Service and staff was friendly. Coffee was good. Nice small local gift shop. Building and grounds need A LOT of attention. Bathroom was available but sink was not operational. It was a very hot day and outdoor fans were not working. it was not comfortable or quaint sitting amongst the weeds and over grown garden. Very different experience from a year ago. read more

The Book & The Bean closed July 31st. We are now an online only store. The new coffee shop, “The Bean” is now open. I am trying to get YELP to fix this. Please have patience. In the meantime, go visit The Bean! They’re great and still have the same great coffee and more menu items!

I was greeted very politely by a sweet young girl when I entered the store. However, another more mature lady came by me while I was shopping and just seemed like she was eyeing me up and down and suggesting I didn't belong there. (I was in my work clothes.)
