I love this place! The service was amazing and everyone was super friendly. I was looking for some beginner tarot and boy did they have a selection of tarot. I'm not familiar with it so I was asking one of the employees a couple of questions and she was pretty understanding even though she didn't know much on the topic. Our cashier was very nice! I don't know her name but she had short black hair. I definitely would recommend this place. read more

It has been a while since I have stepped foot inside am actual Barnes and Noble store. I am normally buying e-books online for my Nook app which is awesome. I needed a guidebook for Disney and actually needed a physical book. Fortunately for me, this location had about 50 different guide books on Disney alone. I had forgotten how much I liked this bookstore. It is massive and contains nearly everything you would want. There is a large magazine section to the front and an excellent children section on the left. In the middle are thousands of new books arranged by topic. In addition to foreign travel books, there were a large amount of Louisiana travel books. This would he a great section to peruse to learn about your home state. The staff at this location are very helpful and friendly. They are more than happy to lead you all over the store to find what you're looking for. They also can look up books to determine what is coming out and when. Although most of my books are now electronic only, I meed to remember to visit an actual location now and then. Oh, how I love books. I do on occasion read books on my iPad or Kindle but nothing really beats holding a book in my hands while reading it...the way it smells, the feel of the pages. It's a sensual thing for me and always has been. I especially love old books...weathered pages that have been turned countless times evokes a feeling in me that is unlike any other. I can get lost in used book stores for hours. That being said, this is one of the best new bookstores around. Barnes and Noble in Mandeville has the feel of a little bookshop but it is quite large and I have always been able to find anything I was looking for here. There are guide books for vacations, text books and everything in between. I love the local section, as I do in most places of business, but a warning...if you're a sentimental sap like me avoid picking up the anniversary of Katrina coffee table books as tempting as it may be, unless you want to be reduced to a crying mess in the middle of the store. (Not that I'd know anything about that nonsense). The kids section is also a life saver during the hot summer months. There are train tables and toys to play with and best of all books! They do story time a few times a day and the employees reading always keep the audience mesmerized. Not an easy feat for the kid crowd, but they do it and do it well. Be sure to join the rewards program if you are a frequent buyer of all things books. It's initially a small investment but really worth it if you're going to be buying here often. Very disappointed in my visit to this store today. On Friday, 8/25, I purchased a $25 gift card; on Saturday, 8/26, I came back to get Erica Spindler's new book and get her autograph and noticed their beach bags were discounted if you made a purchase. So, I purchased the book and a beach bag also because of the offer. Today, 8/27, I returned to ask if I could purchase another beach bag as I had my receipt from Friday of $25. One of the associates tried so hard to help me while the "manager" was so distracted by helping a customer with their phone issues that she was not focused on trying to work out a solution. In closing, over 2 days I spent $69 and yet was not afforded the opportunity to purchase another beach bag at the discounted price. They really acted like this had never happened before. I'm just really bummed that Barnes & Noble decided they didn't want to make a sale today. read more

This place is great even if you don't like reading. Like most locations, there's coffee here. Brought to you by the fine folks of Starbucks. Not my thing though. You probably even find a book on how to open your own Starbucks here. This quickly became one of my family's best places to go to beat the heat of the summer. The kids could get a beverage to enjoy while actually learning something at the same time. Service has always been pretty good. Employees are willing to help you locate an item and even offer to have it special ordered for you if it's not available in store. There's always a giant section of discounted books near the entrance to the store. Sometimes you can find a gem at almost next to nothing. I ranked the price range as "inexpensive" since it is possible to visit here and not spend a dime and still get some entertainment from reading. Whickh brings me to this final observation: Why do these bookstores go throught the trouble of placing inviting furniture and offering free WiFi to their customers? Aren't you supposed to buy a book and leave? This isn't a library, is it? read more

My kids and I love going to this particular book store . I had been looking for a certain book on resume's and well something to help me find a job due to lay off. Well , low and behold .... I stumbled on this book "Knock em Dead" (ultimate job search guide) by Martin Yate CPC . Cant' put it down and has great tips !!! Looking forward into digging in my heels and getting into book ... so far so good !!! like it !!! read more
