To be honest I don't really think of this area as a foodie paradise but one taste from The Bone and wow!! Based on the reviews I was expecting the food to be good but not GREAT! We tried the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches with crispy onion straws as our side. To be honest we didn't really use them as a side... we piled them on top and made a monster-sized sandwich. I didn't get any pics because 1) BBQ is messy 2) it was super crowded 3) I was too busy stuffing my face with delicious food. The pulled pork was so juicy - not super smokey but still big on flavor. I feel like the pulled pork sandwich is a staple at BBQ joints and a true indicator if the place is worth a second visit. This place is definitely worth it. The BBQ sauces are all different and unique. My favorite was the House sauce which has just the right amount of sweet and smokey. The brisket was hands down the best brisket I've ever had at a restaurant. It was tender and with a slight pull it fell apart. It had enough flavor to stand on its own, or shine through if you added sauce. If you're ever in this area you have to check it out! A very disappointing evening at an old favorite -- The Bone in Manassas. While my pulled pork was fine, my wife's chunked brisket was really inedible, with high fat content throughout every bite. When she complained, she receive a few slices of brisket which was not much better. When the manager came by to ask, she told him just that. He explained we came at the tail end of their brisket.....and got the dregs. In that case, they should have removed it from the menu. No refund; no discount. As I said, disappointing. Our family has since returned twice. With totally positive outcomes, but my wife's group didn't venture into the brisket. Moreover, the customer service was top-notch. Today's lesson: one bad experience should be addressed and corrected (it was) but not deter all the good will built over time at an old favorite. We'll be back again & again.... for the excellent pork bbq....And perhaps test the brisket. read more

First of all, the brisket is 5 . All the meats were excellent - chicken (thigh & drum) and ribs. The ribs could use a touch more flavor but the meat was still flavorful and moist, the chicken was great as well. My deductions are for the sides mostly and that the meats all came with sauce already on it & I'm not a major sauce person. But it wasn't over powering and messy. The macaroni & cheese was blah, potato salad was super mayonnaisey but the beans were good. Nothing terrible here at all, they just weren't remarkable. I'll order again alone for the brisket though. My boyfriend and I love The Bone BBQ!! We try to come here at least once a month if we don't visit their food truck at The Winery at Bull Run. Definitely the best bbq spot we've been too and definitely out favorite! Their homemade cornbread is to die for!! read more

They don't have a bar or large dining room. This is a scaled down version with an abbreviated menu, see photo. They hickory smoke on site w/two cookers. They have sone great choices of quality locally sourced 'que at comparable prices of other area restaurants; re: Williards of Chantilly. They have a most excellent pulled pork Q and angus beef brisket. I bought a pound for take out and it made several delicious sandwiches eaten by native North Carolinians who know bbq and rated it @ four out of five stars. A very nice & open dining room you might describe as stadium style seating, see photos. They now have their beer/wine license and are serving local Craft Brews from Heritage, Old Bust Head, Lost Rhino & Port City. This is basic, at best, Virginia barbecue and if you order the brisket moist, it comes cubed... I would chopped but they do and that's how it comes. Despite ordering sliced brisket.. I was told "that's how it comes" and received a very 'get over it or get out attitude' Being from Texas I do have high standards and the collards were great and ribs were ok... First time here and was greeted by a lovely pleasant lady (Lisa) who was smiling and very helpful. I also ordered the chili with brisket in it, which is not shown in the picture. The sausage was mild and pleasantly flavored. Nothing fun, but just right for those who can't eat spicy foods. The ribs were tender and juicy, as was the brisket. The baked beans were very good and had their own classic recipe. The homemade BBQ sauce is great. The only thing I did differently with the IPA Yellow and Habanero sauces was to thicken them slightly. Great BBQ for sure! I ordered the Brisket, Ribs, and greens. The meat from the Ribs were falling off the bone, the brisket had great taste and texture. The green were good, I'm not big into greens... I just ordered them bc I went over my carb count for the day (don't hate me) but my boyfriend loved loved loved the greens. That's all he talked About all night. I work around the area and usually go for lunch with my coworkers on Fridays, and decided to check this BBQ place out. SOLID BBQ! Pricey but they seem generous with the meat portions! I got the BBQ Pork sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese and oh my BBQ! The Mac and cheese was perfectly made. We got the smokey BBQ sauce and the haberno BBQ sauce which complemented the meat real nice (I favor the haberno due to its spicy kick). This place is GOOD!! Went to The Bone for the first time tonight with my fiancé, and his daughter and her boyfriend. We all had amazing meals. I had the salad with pulled pork. Absolutely delicious. My fiancé had the ribs and he said they were tender and incredible. Best BBQ we have had in this entire area. The space inside too is designed well and is cool. Had a family outing with one grand daughter. The grand child likes it here, and that is always a plus as it meant she might actually eat something. Placed the order and took our seat to wait for it to be delivered. The corn muffins came out first; one per customer. But, the grand daughter ate hers and then started on all the other ones. The server brought us more corn muffins as there seems to be an endless supply of them. Ribs were good, but, not quit "fall off the bone". Baked beans and potato salad were rather plain, but, they off-set the sauce on the ribs and that made them the right choice. The brisket was also good. You have several choices for the sauces too; I had the house and the habanero. Both were excellent, and the habanero was potent. They have a good beer selection on tap as well. We are die hard fans and ordered take out lunch today- brisket was really salty, hair in my husbands food (which he mentioned no one was wearing a hair net), and some mysterious fiberous looking thing with green goop on it in my brisket. Delicious BBQ!! Decor was cool. Service is great and fast. I ordered a beef brisket platter with mac n cheese and baked beans. It's a pretty big portion so I think it's a good deal. The brisket is so easy to chew... so... TENDER. and also very flavorful. Tastes even better with their own bbq sauces! You can buy a bottle to take home if you love them. 11/10. Found them online when I was driving back from class and decided to go out of my way and try them. I was little nervous, but it was totally worth it! Customer service was amazing and the restaurant itself provided a very homey atmosphere. I ordered the Brisket Reuben with Mac & Cheese. The food was phenomenal. This is THE best BBQ I've had in North Virginia since leaving Texas. Even though I'm a purist when it comes to sauce on brisket, they use just enough to add an extra depth of flavor, but not enough to soak the meat to compensate for overcooked dry meat. I would drive from Arlington to here just for the brisket. Ribs were just firm enough to stay on the bone. Easy to clean the rib off the bone. We tried the brisket, pulled pork, and various side offerings from the Bone while attending concerts at Jiffy Lube Live all summer. We were Megaticketers so their food was complimentary in the VIP tent and we weren't expecting much, but we were very pleasantly surprised! The staff was always extremely friendly and the food was the best BBQ that we've had in VA. The brisket and pulled pork were always tender and super flavorful. The sides were tasty and everything that was had was incredibly fresh. We had the mac and cheese, potato salad, and baked beans. Overall, we loved the food from the Bone and wish that we lived closer. We will certainly be stopping by anytime we are out in Manassas and highly recommend that you do too! read more

A friend suggested The Bone so we went on a warm fall evening before a ballet performance at the Hylton Center. We sat outside and watched Amtrak passenger trains make stops at the Manassas Station on the opposite side of the tracks. My wife and I both had the pulled pork platters. The pork was tender and flavorful all by itself so sauce really wasn't necessary but I tried a bit of all three sauces and they were excellent. The Carolina gold was particularly good. The baked beans were excellent. The collards green had a nice accent of vinegar but they were spicier than I would prefer. Excellent Ribs!!!. I have eaten here several times and was always happy with the food and service. I can't believe haven't tried the ribs until today.. they were so flavorful and tende.
