The general atmosphere of the place is reminiscent of the backwater bbq shacks you go to when you are in search of epic grub, all the while being neatly tucked into old town Manassas. After so much presentation I was afraid that it would be like many of the bbq joints in the area (all show) but My tastebuds screamed with delight when I took my first bite of that succulent pulled pork. Took a friend from out of the country and who has never had bbq and says it was the best food he had on his stay, (and we went to some pretty good places). A hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. We were dragging ourselves to Manassas on a Saturday afternoon to take my daughter roller skating. On the way we stopped here for lunch based on the glowing Yelp recommendations and LOVED IT! My girlfriend and I split a full slab. The ribs were meaty and delicious. Try as we might, we couldn't decide if we preferred them naked, with just the sauce and rub they came with or coated with one of the tasty sauces that were available. After gorging ourselves trying to resolve this problem we still had several "bones" to take home for latter snacking. My daughter and our (grown up) friend each had a two-rib kids order which was plenty for them. Great all around BBQ! I had the three meat combo and a premium side. The brisket was good, the ribs were good, but the surprise was the smoked turkey! I had the brisket chili, which was a premium side, is was excellent and maybe the best part of the meal. The restaurant is in a great location and Im sure the outdoor seating is dun in the summertime. I wanted bbq and when I have this craving I don't stop until I'm satisfied. Found a spot in Manassas, Va that had good reviews so I went with it. The Bone is located in Old Town Manassas on a street with limited parking so watch where you park. Inside is clean and spacious. The menu is posted on the wall in big letters. I didn't want to go back to work and fall asleep(bbq food coma) so I ordered traditional smoked wings, brisket chili, and the best banana pudding I've had in YEARSSSSS!! The wings are smoked and juicy and the house bbq sauce is a good accompaniment. The brisket chili was real good. Nice pieces of tender brisket in a spicy stew with plenty of veggies, accompanied by corn bread, sour cream, and cheese served on the side. The banana pudding was the secret star of this meal: pudding, bananas, a crushed cookie bottom, and whipped cream with cinnamon (?) topping. It was REAL GOOD!! I live in Springfield and was in the area running some errands with my boyfriend.. we were starving and while walking came across the bone.. as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a couple of young guys who were working there. They were SOO polite and attentive at all times.. I cant even beginning to describe the food because it was sooo delicious. The best BBQ restaurant I have tasted in the Northern Virginia area. I recently tried Myron Mixon's in Alexandria and was horrified by their inflated prices and skimpy portions. Bone's prices are very reasonable and more in line with what BBQ should cost. Their portions are significantly larger and they taste great. Being my first visit, I opted for the Pitmaster's Special 3 meat combo with brisket, ribs and pulled pork. The brisket was very moist, the rub on the ribs was perfect and the pulled pork was cooked to perfection. The combo comes with your choice of two classic sides along with a bun to make a sandwich with the pulled pork if you desire as well as a corn bread muffin. For a dollar more you can upgrade to their premium sides. Bone has three different House BBQ sauces that you can use to flavor your meal with. Just be careful of the hot pepper infused BBQ sauce as it packs quite a kick. I would highly recommend "The Bone" to anyone looking for great BBQ without getting gauged like Myron Mixon's in Alexandria. AMAZING brisket! One of the best BBQ places I have been. Incredibly sweet manager and friendly staff. 10/10 recommend!

First time here and was greeted by a lovely pleasant lady (Lisa) who was smiling and very helpful. I also ordered the chili with brisket in it to go which is not shown in the pic. The sausage was mild with a pleasant taste. Nothing gamey but just right for someone who is unable to have spicey foods. The ribs were very tender and juicy, and the brisket was just the same. The baked beans were very good and had it's own touched on a classic recipe. The homemade bbq sauces were excellent. The only things that I would do different with the IPA Yellow and Habanero sauces would be to slightly thicken them. I'm so glad this place was open. The Bbq was excellent and the service was great. The sauces were flavorful and everything was very tasty. I won't be going back during COVID though. Too many Manassholes come in here without masks on. The business needs to make money so it puts the owners in a tough position. You ask them to wear a mask and possibly lose their business or make everyone wearing masks uncomfortable by not saying anything. Also, the bathroom toilet was covered in vomit. The Bbq was good. Nice place but severely overpriced. I had the brisket platter. The menu said that the platter had more meat and comes with two sides. The portion had 6 small 4 inch pieces of brisket and I opted for the collard greens and coleslaw as my sides. All was tasty but the brisket had no bark or smoke ring making me wonder if they actually BBQ the meat. The portion should be double and it still would be on the high side price wise. Stopped in for lunch. Old town Manassas is getting better in the food scene instead of just the neighborhood bars. The Bone has a good selection of foods but pricey. 4 people for $60 seems like a lot for bbq. I had the turkey on salad and the turkey was very tender and not dry. The onion straws gave good crunch too. Highly recommend! I also got a side of Mac and cheese. I'm very picky with Mac and cheese. This one was creamy, hot, and noodles not too mushy. The table got half rack, brisket sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich. The beans looked homemade. The ribs were very tender. Didn't try the brisket or pulled pork. read more

This place just goes by The Bone, but perhaps the full name of "Bad to The Bone" is more fitting for what the experience of this place really is. I came here yesterday with my husband and I get they were crowded since it was the 4th of July and there was a festival and fireworks going on in Old Town Manassas, but we probably waited about 30 minutes in line to order. I think more than 1 cashier would have really helped to get people in and out. As for the food, we saw a smoker out front so we were pretty excited to get some really smoked BBQ, but we were underwhelmed with the taste of the food on all fronts. We went with the pulled pork and mac & cheese. The pork just wasn't very flavorful at all and needed the help of the BBQ sauces which were ok, I like the whiskey one the best. The mac & cheese (which is a $1 up charge) tasted like velveta from a box......definitely not worth the up charge. I think this place will probably do ok since it has a great location in Old Town Manassas, but they need to step up their game on the food big time. read more

I was very, very close to giving this place a 4/5, until getting further into the meal, and you'll soon why I'm giving it 3/5. Today is rail fest, a big day in downtown Manassas, especially with the first voyage in over 20 years of the old N&W's Class J 611 locomotive, but okay I digress a little, it was lunch time and I was hungry and I had a sticker for this place, and I like BBQ, so I gave it a try, line was rather short but it was 11:30, not quite lunch time but knowing it soon would be. I glazed over the menu to come across they had ribs. I do like ribs. It comes with cornbread, two sides, and a drink. For the sides, I got macaroni and cheese (safe bet) and the ranch beans, plus the drink. It was expensive, but ribs are expensive. They give you a number and they then go serve it to you. Roughly 10-15 mins after waiting the food arrived. The rack of ribs was very plentiful, and so were the sides it came with. I had to try the ribs first. They were terrific. Unfortunately it was St. Louis rub, which is saucy compared to Memphis style and more tangier than Carolina style (I'm a Memphis style rib person). Still they were awesome and the meat fell off the bone. People looked at my dish and were jealous, that's how you know it was good. Then, it went downhill. There's no place to put the bones, so I had to scramble for an empty food basket and placed the refuse in that. Some of the ribs had too much fat so it was a fun game to not find the fatty stuff. Once the ribs were complete (and several napkins later), I went for the sides. The macaroni and cheese, which appears to have a lot of potential, was very watery, and the noodles were a bit overcooked. The cheese sauce was overcooked but maybe that's because they were not prepared for the crowds. The ranch beans had great first taste, but overall were super sweet and could not take more than 2-3 spoonfuls of them. Finally, I got birch beer from the soda fountain and the soda tasted flat. Gross. The cornbread however was really good. I'll return again because I have that sticker that after a certain amount of meals, one is free. But next time I'll be more attentive to what else is on the menu and perhaps spend less money in the process. read more

This is probably hands-down the BEST bbq place in northern Virginia!!!. The brisket was soft and tender and you didn't even need a knife to cut into it. The Mac & cheese was beyond amazing, not too cheesy but just right! Coleslaw was super tasty and all the different types of bbq sauces were so versatile and great! Be careful with their haberno bbq its savory but the spice is intense it's not joke ! All in all definitely a go-to place for some amazing BBQ! Service was speedy and kind! In my experience smoked swine comes in three basic levels. There's that premixed smokey sweet pulled pork you get at the deli counter, middle of the road fare that you can tell has at least seen some real combustion and smoke, and then there are those places that expertly smoke and craft an unbelievable marriage between the bark, smoke, and succulent meat. This place is smack in the middle. It definitely has a true smoky flavor and hand cut/pulled chunks of pork. Unfortunately their rolls are simple grocery store brand potato rolls, the serving had very limited if any bark, and it came pre-drenched in a house vinegar that was too thick to be NC style and too tart to be Memphis style. However for your 8$ you do get a great portion and one substantial side. Today it was their baked beans which aren't the typical molasses and brown sugar conception but rather resembles a slightly sweet and spicy chili. The beans were a bit undercooked for my palate but I definitely enjoyed the change of pace as well as the significant chunks of what I assume is leftover brisket. All in all this place is definitely worth a lunch trip if you're in the area. If you're looking to travel for good BBQ I'd pass this one up. read more
