The Bone Manassas location is probably my favorite place in all of Manassas. Actually its my favorite BBQ spot as well! Their Pulled Pork sandwich is THE BEST their Ribs are THE BEST!! Their pickles are absolutely incredible with sliced onions and red peppers mixed in with the sliced cucumbers. Seriously the pickles deserve another sentence of praise for their crispy perfection lol Their House BBQ sauce is my all time favorite sauce hands down! Wayyy better than sweet rays or any other restaurant's bbq sauce I have ever tried. The smokiness is balanced with the sweetness and it also has that little touch of piquant sourness or something. My guess is they add a small amount of their pickling liquid which by the way has the perfect blend of savory spices against the hot red peppers. Nothing is overpowering it's all perfectly balanced. I constantly buy their sauce and keep it in stocked the fridge! Sometimes I buy their pickles too! Every time I talk about it my mouth just starts watering lol The whole atmosphere smells like hickory smoke its just amazing. Indoor and outdoor seating is always available every time. The staff there are all really friendly and happy. It's nicely branded inside but it also has a low key feel with wooden booths and a few bar stools. Last but not least they have amazing wings, cole slaw is awesome, corn bread is great and their banana cream dessert is no joke!!!! My only issue with them is they close up a bit earlier so do check their hours. One last thing - they make a solid effort to keep a decent stock of Virginia beers on hand read more

Was enticed by their online Tuesday night special - $7 pulled pork sandwich with a side and coleslaw. I added collard greens and the cornbread basket. I've eaten A LOT of BBQ in my life and am a fan of NC style. I like it chopped, smokey but tangy and very moist. Throw in a shot of Texas Pete hot sauce and top with coleslaw and you've got my attention! I like places like Doumar's in Norfolk and Smiley's Truck Stop near Staunton, VA...if that gives you a reference. First, the positives: The small cornbread muffins were delicious-- slightly sweet, dense, small bits of kernels and served with a wonderful honey butter. The sauces were also outstanding! Sweet or smokey...didn't try the one with red pepper flakes, but my friends loved it....you could drink the sauces alone! Meh, I've had better: The pork was tender and moist, but lacked real flavor - my portion was smallish but others were very generous. Coleslaw was crunchy and plentiful but lacked any flavor whatsoever, I added a bit of salt which helped it but I'm used to a bit more vinegar and/or sugar. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good...just so so. The bun was probably a standard potato based - moist..again, meh - average. Negatives: The collards were awful! I can't even pin down what it was supposed to taste like. It had bits of pork, onion, vinegar and SAUERKRAUT??? what is that all about? The sour of the kraut and the vinegar were too overwhelming. The flavor lacked a real depth, it needed more fat and smokiness. My friends felt the same. Excellent. Everything except the sides, which leave a little to be desired. But isn't the real star here the meat? And it is, tender with amazing sauce. Try it stuffed in a potato or on one of their amazing, ridiculously filling salads. And they serve birch beer along from the soda fountain, along with some wonderful local craft beers. Pretty nice spot in Old a Town too, usually not overly crowded and quick service even in busy times. One of our very favorite places. read more

The good: Great BBQ meat had the brisket which was amazing and my husband had the pork. Great flavor and nice and tender. The bad: Price didn't really fit the portions we got. It is more expensive than Urban BBQ and Willards. At least at those places you get two sides rather than one. Feedback for the restaurant is if someone orders the pulled pork sandwich they should know they ARE getting coleslaw instead of cornbread. We would have upgraded one of our sides to mac and cheese knowing that we automatically got a nice portion of coleslaw. read more

YUM!! First let me say I don't eat meat and still really enjoyed my meal. Thanks Bone :) I had the salad without meat topping and it was amazing. I chose the chipotle ranch (I think that's what it was called) and I seriously wanted to lick the bowl lol. Not your ordinary side salad and I loved the crispy onion straws they topped it with. Also grabbed a side of coleslaw which was just as amazing and an order of cornbread. The cornbread was cinnamon flavor and it threw me off but still really good just not what I was looking for. The employees were all very nice, one of them even delivered my muffins that I forgot haha. I work one block over so will be back for many more salads :) I did recommend that they get the pecan pie and sangria that their sister shop Bad to the Bone in Gainesville has. First time in. I tried the three-meat platter with pork, turkey, and brisket with sides of collards and beans. In short, everything is delicious. The brisket is thickly cut and moist. The pork is pulled and chunked nicely with a great vinegar tang. The collards are fresh, firm, and peppery. At least four different sauces are available and each has a distinct flavor; I can't decide which I like best. The habanero BBQ sauce has a great kick and doesn't shy away from its namesake. There are chunks of brisket an inch long and 3/4" thick mixed with the beans--really great. The flavor is outstanding. If I have one complaint, it would be that the beans needed a little more time in the pot as they're a bit hard, but this is a small note against an otherwise outstanding plate. I almost didn't stop in because of the other Yelp reviews, but I'm really glad I did. The prices aren't "low" by any means, but they're right-on for a plate of BBQ of this quality and they're what you'd pay at a large chain BBQ place for a similar plate of vastly inferior quality. Besides, none of the restaurants in Old Town Manassas are what I'd call "inexpensive," so I'm more than fine with what I paid for the meal by its quality, flavor, and location. No doubt, I'll definitely return, and soon. EDITED TO ADD: I think I see more of what some of the other reviewers complain about. Having been here a number of times now, I see that consistency is a HUGE issue with them. If I go for lunch late, the cuts of brisket I get are thick and juicy. If I go to lunch "on time," the cuts are thin and dry and boring. The quality and quantity of what goes on the plate seems to vary with the time of day, almost perfectly so. I'm docking a star from my original review because of the lack of consistency, but their BBQ is still general better than what can be purchased anywhere else in the nearby area. read more

Was in for lunch today. Sauces are amazing. A lot of places say hot sauce and leaves much to desire but theirs is hot and superb! Brisket great, turkey best I've had, pulled pork nacho really really good. Sides all deliver! Portions are huge so maybe not the cheapest in town, but the price reflects the value of the portion! We tried this place for the first time last weekend...LET ME BE CLEAR...TWO WORDS...SIMPLY DELICIOUS!!!! I've been away from carbs but the cornbread muffin kept flirting with me so I flirted back, seconds later it was gone (no regrets). The BBQ was delicious (Ribs, Pulled Chicken and Wings), and the sides were very tasteful--and I'm a picky eater. Let me add, the bones in the wings were white (mom always said the color of the bone in chicken should be white as it signifies freshness)! We stopped in here to get some BBQ after a long discussion about what/where to eat dinner for the evening. The place is unique and has a good menu. The sauce was limited to 3 flavors; hot, honey, and mustard, and the portions were large. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our questions and needs. They were out of chicken, which was what we came in to order, so that was disappointing. The place is clean and seating was ample. read more

We bought a rib platter on Saturday. Summary: go to The Bone and buy ribs. The ribs are fantastic. Great meat, great smoke, great bark. To me, as good as you can get. My wife loved them too and she's a tough critic. Cole slaw - very good- crispy with a light dressing. Sweet potato fries - not my thing (ever)- wife liked. Corn bread, moist and on the sweet side. Very good but I would like savory more. A little spicy sauce fixed it. The sauces- I tasted them all and they're all good. The habanero sauce does have some kick. Went there with my brother. He got the pulled pork platter, I got the brisket platter and we shared. The pork was very good. Moist, good smoke, well seasoned. The collard greens were excellent. The brisket was dry and flavorless. I couldn't finish my portion. The beans tasted like they had chili seasoning in them, not what I am looking for in my beans. The cornbread was not cornbread. We have been there twice and have enjoyed their food. My husband is a fan of the pork sandwich and beans. I LOVE their Smoking Salad. It is a large fresh salad with tomatoes, cucumber and mixed greens. The pulled pork was really delicious. They charge too much for beer. This place was just okay if you're in the mood for quick BBQ, but I don't think it is worth the price. We're moving out to the Manassas soon and stopped here while we were looking around the area. I may return here again in the future to see if they change anything, but it isn't something I'd suggest to some one else. The menu is small and the restaurant is similar to 5-Guys style: order at the counter, seat and serve yourself. Plastic forks, styrofoam cups, rolls of paper towels, it feels like you're at a backyard BBQ, so it's pretty alright, but it isn't what you'd expect at first. The portions of brisket, which my partner got, as well as the pulled pork in the stuff baked potato I got were pretty spot-on, however, I feel like cornbread should come with the meal, and not cost two dollars extra for four little muffins. Just a potato was rather boring to eat. The total, with only one drink, was a little over 27$ dollars. Considering the type of dining experience I would have expected a bit better on the pricing, dinner for two at other, tastier BBQ places with full service that includes glass plates and real silverware is about the same price range. read more

Hands down best Beef brisket and smoked chicken you can get at a restaurant in Manassas. I haven't have the turkey or pulled pork yet so I can't can comment on that. I think the reason why people have mixed reviews on the the food is because they smoke their meat in house so there's going to be variations from time to time on how it's gonna come out. And the problem with the meat on 4th of July is that they were probably trying to rush the meat so they might of cut some corners. But hey, it happens when you gotta feed that many people. I do agree with the Mac n cheese not being worth an extra $1 (call me cheap). Oh, and P.S. Where's the ribs?!? read more

Shockingly good BBQ. We got pulled pork, mac n cheese, cole slaw, and cornbread. The pulled pork came in larger pieces that seemed to have been cooked and pulled pretty recently, which was all the more surprising considering we rolled in at about 1:30 for a late lunch. It had a nice smoky crust on some pieces that provided great texture contrast. The interior of the pork was still juicy. As good as any I've had and even better than the pulled pork I've had before from their food truck, which is consistently good. The cole slaw was nice and cold, crunchy, and lightly dressed. The mac n cheese has great flavor, rich and creamy. The cornbread had great crust and was slightly sweet. It was served with honey butter. It's been a while since I've been to a restaurant and everything was just perfect. If "The Bone" can consistently make food this great, there will be no keeping me away from it. 6 stars if I could. read more

Came here with family while on the Whole 30. The staff was SO HELPFUL, very patient, and informative. We were unable to eat the meat due to sugar in the rub but we were able to order a salad and plain baked potato. The salad was very fresh! I've walked past this place a dozen times and never thought to give it a try until today when I could smell the smoker and it was so purmiating. Look at the menu and everything sounds so good. Split a stuffed sweet potato with pulled chicken and a side of greens and potato salad with my sister. Bobby & Pat, you guys know what you're doing. With all the new places to eat Downtown Manassas we wanted to try this place. I know it is bbq but I still felt it was pretty expensive for what you got. The ribs were good and fell off the bone. I didn't taste a ton of smoke in the brisket but the chopped was good. The BBQ sauces were hit and miss but I enjoyed the house style. My 3 item meal, 2 orders of brisket and ribs, cole slaw, potato salad and substitute sweet potato for corn bread totaled to around $27. A bit high. One part that my wife and I both commented on was that there is no music in the place. So it was just us and another table and the place was awkwardly silent. Please play some music in there please. They really know how to do pulled pork. I haven't ever had other meats there though. Their Family Packs can feed an Army!! They were able guide me to order the right amount of food. I would HIGHLY reccomend using them for your party. Seating was difficult for our family of five. We will probably get ours to-go next time, but we'll definitely return. The food was delicious. The macaroni and cheese and ranch beans in particular were standouts. Chicken and pulled pork were both good. Side selections were somewhat limited for our kids (who aren't really into foods like potato salad and coke slaw). Portions are generous. We ordered 2 platters and 2 kids' meals for 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 7, 4, 1) and it was way too much food. The iced tea was freshly-brewed and delicious. The soda selection included birch beer, which the kids were excited about. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The restrooms were clean.
