I am a raw food snob. Or at least, I grew up in a raw food…read moresnobbish family. For the last two decades, the pets that live under our roofs have eaten raw. Our choice to move away from dry food was based on a simple idea: imagine eating meat flavoured cereal, day in, day out, for the rest of your life... yeah. That would suck. The added benefits of raw came secondary to this very simple thought but the decreased vet trips, lack of fleas, healthy teeth and bundle of family pets that aged gracefully? Really nice bonus features. So when I accidentally acquired three cats? There was no question - they would remain on raw food. Except now, I didn't live under a roof where the monetary weight of that decision was taken care of. Suddenly I was responsible for keeping 30 pounds of squawking, clawing beastery in ground beef & bone. I tried some of the "fancier" options like Blue Kat, Red Dog but it was running me upwards of $80 a week to keep my brood fed. And so I made the trip, and returned to our family's tried and true choice. This place will never fall under the guise of fancy. But the people are pleasant, you can buy in bulk and $80 will buy me enough food to last 6 weeks. If you're a cat owner, just bypass the options that include veggies as the ratio is too high. Just add juiced veggies yourself if you're so inclined. It might not be as high quality as the other brands with their fancy packaging but you know what? My cats face plant into it with gusto on a daily basis and i've never heard complaints. All three are healthy, spoiled little monsters who adore their beef/bone/organ mix. And for those of you who are thinking - but it says it's DOG food. Hint: cats can't read. They will not be offended. I promise you. Big fan of this spot for sure. They have two other locations and you can purchase their stuff at a few different spots in town if you don't want to bother with the drive. Though, here boasts the best prices. If you feed raw - it's an excellent and cost effective choice.
