Bowling alley
Bethany R.

Came here with friends on a Saturday night for bowling and drinks. Bowling was fine and it's a fun atmosphere with more going on than a typical bowling alley. However the service was extra slow with our lane being dirty and having to ask for someone to clean it up before we started and then it taking a long time to get drinks at the bar. We pressed the service button at our lane to order food and drinks and no one ever came.

We came here for family bowling on a holiday and we had a blast. Our server was Veronica and she really took care of us. We got a pizza, two orders of pretzels and drinks. We never had to wait long with her helping us. The ambiance was really nice, we came early and the whole place was so clean

We came to celebrate my girl today. She turned 11 today! We did the family bundle, got an hour of bowling for 6 of us. The kids (4) all get to play laser tag, and we got a pizza and a $50 game card!! Veronica was our server and she was so personable and bubbly. She made our experience that much better!! The bathrooms were very clean and smelled good. We will definitely be back! Thanks BLVD for the fun experience.

The atmosphere is always awesome here at the boulevard we like to come here for a birthday parties and just a little getaway from the outside world. The staff is always very helpful and attentive. The food is always on point as well. The pizza is thin and has a nice crunch to it just like the way I like it. Our server veronica was amazing.

Our first visit and we had a great experience! The hostess, Sam was really helpful! I asked her what she liked, she recommended the wontons, they were great! $11 for 5 of them. Then when our server had a lot of tables Sam took our drink order. My daughter and I split the steak sandwich, grilled onions on the side because she didn't want them. So mine had extra onions and it was delicious! Other kid had a kids pizza and she liked it, it looked very good! Husband had asada fries, but subbed tots, he liked them. I really think it should have had more meat! I tried a small bite, but didn't try the meat because there wasn't much. Clean and not too loud considering all the people and games going on! Pleasant dining experience!

Where to even begin? This was our first experience at The Blvd. To start off parking was, difficult even though inside it didn't seem overly busy. We came to celebrate a birthday with a group who had already booked 3 lanes for bowling. We paid separately for our shoes and were told to wait on the side for our shoes. There were baskets of shoes and no attendant to guide us so we assumed the baskets were shoes that we just paid for but about 5 minutes later in the chaos of the front area were told those baskets are dirty shoes and to go wait at the lanes. When we got to the lanes there were baskets of shoes there but no one told us they would be so that was confusing but all was well. We began our games, though the selection of balls is small. They're all the same color and size - with only about 3/4 variations I saw. We had a wide age range playing so it was difficult to find balls for the smallest players. Now ordering food was chaos. Absolutely chaos. No server came over until about 20 minutes into the first games. When they did we told them we were paying separately from the group and they started a "tab" even though I only planned on ordering once they took my card and came back and handed it to me. It took quite a while for the food to come out but once it did everything we got was very good. The Haggard Burger was exceptional with the bbq sauce that they had. However, it took a long LONG time to get a side of bbq sauce since it was kind of scarce on the burger how they made it. I mean a long time like- I told my husband to just start eating or it would be cold and soggy. He was 2/3 of the way done by the time they brought the sauce. My eggrolls were delicious beside, and quite a good dupe for the Chili's Southwestern Eggrolls. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her soup and bread bowl but we were NOT told the bread bowl was $5 on top of an $8 soup. That's kinda wild. We were also not told when we finally got my tab that they just decided to add an $11.18 tip to the tab even though they switched our server out halfway through and we rarely saw them. I don't appreciate sly additions without forwarning. Especially since I wasn't the person who booked the group. Thankfully it was removed. Upon leaving after using the restroom we were just about to the lobby / front register area and we saw a cockroach. Now that I'm here I see I'm not the first Yelper to see these kinds of things and to be honest that's disgusting considering I paid $66 for 3 items of food & 2 drinks. So overall- would I come here again? Mmmm I don't know. The food is good. The bowling was fun. The atmosphere was LOUD. The service was - slow and poor.... But I may give them another chance in the future when it isn't so busy, but it's a steep cost in these times and I didn't even book the lanes! Woof!! I'm glad my friends had fun but they NEED to take cleanliness more seriously!!

Simply put, I believe The BLVD is Bakersfield's version of LA's Lucky Strike. With food and drink variances, the concept is practically the same. One can opt into certain packages that includes bowling, food and access to a private lounge. We celebrated my kid's 16th birthday party and I decided on the Extreme Adulteen package for $290 (not including taxes, service charge, and any other add-ons). This package does include: 1.5 hours of bowling, choice of one food option (went with chicken sliders), unlimited side (fries), unlimited sodas (up to 3 kinds), a party host, and a $15 game card for 10 guests. I thought it was a good price point for the service and the food quality we received that day. The party host we got was Mo. She was excellent! Courteous and diligent, she set-up the area in advance, got food out nicely and all the shoes for the bowlers. She also was on hand pretty much the entire duration of the party for any additional requests, like alcoholic drinks (not included in the package). Without even a second thought, she even offered to put up a screen to shield the other side from our view to make the event space even more private. Mackenzie was the event assistant who helped me with all my questions about the packages, add-ons, and contract leading up to the event. She was excellent as well. The only reason I'm giving the BLVD a 4rating is because of the rude, young guy at the cashier desk (curly hair with glasses). Upon checking in, which we did well in advance of the start time, he got pissy with me because he was looking at an old list for the parties booked. He dared to argue and insist that my name was not on the list even though I showed my contract copy on my phone. Without even reading it, he was not helpful at all. The event manager finally came out of the office. She literally had to tell him that the list he was looking at was not even the right date. Dude definitely needs a lot more coaching or better yet, he needs to be in an area where he's not dealing with customers because he doesn't know the first thing about CS. A very stark contrast from the service I received from both party host and event coordinator/asst.

Chicken Tenders

The chicken was delicious. The service was great. Very loud inside but it's to be expected given the type of venue it is. Sports on all the tvs but no sound because the music and children playing and yelling. All in all a great family place to play.

Proof of charge.

Don't waste a loved ones birthday celebrate here. We had a relatives birthday party feb 1st at noon and I was constantly getting up to fill pitchers and throwing away trash. Ect. Whatever, sometimes folks need help. I ended up buying an extra pizza, which the lady helping us said I would have to have a card on file. Fine. Total was 20.01. I paid cash. It was funny trying to find a penny but it created a good conversation why people find pennies worthless. We cleared the room and went to go play lazer tag. While walking away I saw her starting to clear tables. Lazer tag was a whole other pain but overall we had fun in there. We left and now I see my card was charged on top of them taking the cash. Go ahead and keep it. However, to protect families I feel obligated to at least post a review. Folks stay away, go somewhere else.

Hummus dip

Happy hour specials are okay, beers are cheap but you only get $2 off certain items! The hummus WAS A HUGE portion and I loved it but they did give me some soggy cucumbers so I could tell they were old. The burger has a sauce that made it sweet so not a favorite. The wontons were so crispy but I wish they gave more. Our server was so fun and refilled our drinks and took our order when we asked for more food. We love bowling here.

Dragon Fruit Monin w/ De La Rosa fruit bar

if you come down on friday, Crystal will HOOK you up at the bar, she actually knows how to make a drink and her personality and customer service is BEYOND!!!

This was our first time coming here. Our daughter's elementary school reserved The BLVD for their end of the year 6th grade party. We tagged along with our daughter. The kids were able to bowl and have unlimited play time at the arcade and play laser tag and the rope course. The BLVD served them lunch in a banquet room. Some kids had to sit outside of the banquet room though because there was not enough chairs. My husband and I purchased our own lunch. There seemed to be only one waiter attending the tables. I don't know if that was because the other waiters were attending to the children but props to him. He did a great job and he still was patient and kind to us. Food was delicious especially my chicken sandwhich! My husband thought it was a bit pricey, he even said gratuity is added on the bill which he dislikes. I thought it was reasonable. I would love to return with my husband to eat and next time have some alcoholic drinks

Ask the Community - The BLVD

Do I need a reservation for a party of 10 for dinner? We'd like to sit up top.

How many people are allowed per bowling lane?

Only 6 at a time

Do we need a reservation for 2 people to bowl on a weekday?

First come first serve, no reservations.

Is bowling open yet?

Yes

Is there unlimited video game cards you can buy by the hour?

Nooe

Do they carry White Claws? Asking for a friend.

Yes they have cherry and lime

Do they have ping pong?

No, they don't. There's plenty to do, however... bowling, arcade games, pool tables, laser tag, etc...

Are they're vegan options? Or meat alternatives?

Yes not sure if they're vegan but meatless and meat alternative burgers

I really want to do some karaoke and games. The last time I went to The BLVD the karaoke room wasn't working, I guess someone had stolen the mics. So what are the prices? Is it per person or per hour?

It is per hour. On weekdays it is $25/hour. On Fridays after 5pm the pricing changes automatically to weekend prices which is $50/hour. The room can have about 10-15 people inside.

How much does it cost to do the karaoke?

I am not too sure but call and they will help answer that. That is one of the things I forgot to research when I was last there. Should be like less than $10 if an hour of pool is $8-$12. Keep us posted!!!

How much is it for bowling, laser tag, and etc?

Pricing varies depending on the day and time. The pricing indicated above is "peak" ... pricing durinf their busiest times. It is less expensive during the week. Here is a link with complete pricing information:… Read more

I went in wanting to inquire about birthday parties/events and no one was there to help. I sat in the dining area for a while to get a bite to eat and no one came up. Waited there for a while looking at the menu and nothing. There was no one to be found. The two staff members who were there who I assume were management just stood in the prize section practically laying on the counter talking to each other. I walked up to them and none of them even acknowledged I was there. Later the female walks up to me I explain to her what I needed and she passes me to the male who I assume is her boss (bald guy). He says "What do you need" no "hi how are you" or nothing. I then revert back to not wanting to do anything there at all and just tell him something else and he rolls his eyes fixes what I needed and practically throws the card back at me. In comparison to my first visit a couple months ago this one definitely disappointed me. I didn't even want to sit down and eat or book an event anymore. Guess I'll take my money elsewhere. Never seen this type of behavior from employees much less someone I think was part of management. Wish I could get a refund on the card I had already bought because I don't think I'll be back.

Plus there is not enough places to sit while your kids enjoy themselves. The tables that are empty have reserved signs all over them when I'm not sure what they are reserved for as I didn't see anyone actually sit at one. Also the tables are filthy! I finally got tired of walking around looking for a seat and just sat down and about 5 minutes later I was asked if I was a part of a party and that if not I would need to move. I asked where I was supposed to sit and she told me it was first come first serve...ok then we're NOT off to a great first impression at all! So it's $22 for an all day jump. Meaning you get wristbands and can jump all day but you cannot leave and come back. Plus there is a $4 fee for socks that you HAVE to have to participate. There does seem to be lots of activities for the kids to get into. Also the wristbands are supposed to prevent anyone from being able to just walk out with your kids but I didn't scan anything and just walked right on out the door. Went into the women's restroom and was pleasantly surprised to see how clean it was but then I noticed there was no toilet paper or paper towels. There were however seat covers, but when I went to wash my hands the full soap dispenser would not dispense any soap. There doesn't seem to be a kitchen there but it says one is coming soon. You can order pizza, chicken or wedges that are delivered from a Round Table Pizza close by and it was actually pretty good. Overall this place is cool. There are a lot of kids just ripping and roaring all over so it's kind of a day care for tired parents, IF you can find a place to sit.

She was attentive, kind, and handled everything with such professionalism despite clearly being given a lot of responsibility. She truly stood out and made our experience better. I did notice that she was responsible for distributing food, handing out sodas and waters, and assisting guests all at once. It seemed like she was being pulled in many directions while other staff were not stepping in to support her. From a guest perspective, it felt like a missed opportunity -- not only for efficiency and service flow, but also for her personally. Alexis has the personality and skill set of a strong bartender, and it seemed like she wasn't being utilized in a way that allows her (or the business) to maximize her strengths or earning potential. She was essentially serving waters and sodas while having the ability to provide full bar service, which would benefit both her and the establishment. My intention in sharing this is truly positive. Alexis is a fantastic employee and clearly cares about the guests and the establishment. Supporting team members like her and ensuring responsibilities are balanced among staff would likely improve both customer experience and employee satisfaction. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate the effort that goes into running a busy place like yours and wanted to share feedback that I hope is helpful.

To start off just wanted to say that my family and I ultimately did have fun. We had a great time…read moreand for the price it was worth it. We visited on a Sunday night. Place was not busy at all and there seemed to be 2 bartenders, two staff members, and one manger working. There are a few things I think would really help the business improve: To start off the customer service is below par, you don't get greeted or talked to unless you start the conversation off first. During our entire visit about 2.5 hours no one came and checked on us or ask us anything. Bartender was the only staff member who wore a smile and was extremely friendly throughout the visit. I would say some table touches by management or maybe having one person on the floor talking to people could not only generate more money but also better experiences. Usually I'm not the type to need most interactions when going places but this place definitely lacked it by a lot. Concerning the overall cleanliness of the building it also could have been a lot better. Restrooms were fairly clean but the tables themselves were very dirty as well as the booths. We had to ask twice for tables to be clean and ended up gathering them ourselves in order to sit down. The food was good though we ordered two pizzas some pitchers of soda and beer and some nachos. I do believe they should have a wider selection of food sold but I know most of the time that doesn't really fall on the management but more so the actual corporation. Price was also not too bad for food. For the actual bowling it was really fun I paid about $120 for about 7 people to bowl with shoes included apparently it was a special and you can bowl until they close. The equipment seemed really really old though I think this place is due for a remodel. The pins would fall on their own with no ball in sight, the balls would not go into the chute and instead roll back on the actual lane and get stuck and at times the whole system would just freeze and during those intense moments where we were trying to crown a winner the experience is just ruined. Overall the atmosphere was alright there were about 5 other family and they bunched us all up in the same booths instead of spreading everyone around to give people more space. The music was okay and the place didn't really scream fun. I think this place had lots of potential despite the age of the building by just tweaking a couple things which would make everyone's experience that much more enjoyable. Will I be back soon? Maybe not. Do I want to be back? Of course. Given there is basically no places in town like this I think this place has lots of room for improvement.
