No watered down drinks here! Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. No smoking inside but you can smoke outside on the patio.

As far as dive bars goes, this is a great place to go, hang out, and listen to some live music. There are quite a few tables, and when we visited, we took a table hoping that it wasn't a regular's spot. Everyone in the place was super friendly. Don't expect any table service here - order your drinks at the bar and make yourself comfortable. The bartenders were really friendly and welcoming too. It's always weird when you go into a place for the first time and don't know anyone and feel that "I'm outta place" vibe. But not here - I didn't feel that way at all. There is a nice back patio for warmer days and nights even in winter. Live music is an added bonus. And apparently you can count on a clean women's bathroom. I was told this was true, and it held up to it's reputation. Smoking is allowed inside, so be prepared if you're not a smoker or have issues breathing in second hand stuff. I'm somewhat sensitive to it, but I wasn't dying. The back door to the patio was open, and when it got too bad for me, I just stepped outside for some fresh air. If you're looking for real "dick's last resort" style service, look no further. Between the rudeness of the mullet, curly-haired bartender, Jordan, and the owner, Michelle's penchant for getting into online tirades with her patrons, this dive really knows how not to treat a person. Go check her out on google and you'll see it all, from her accusing her detractors of review bombing, to more recently, emptying out her bar during a tornado, instead of allowing her customers to shelter in place. read more

The bar is great. The bartender hates anyone that is not a regular and will treat you miserably. The shuffle board table should just be taken out. Could be a great spot if there was some hospitality instead of complete and utter absurdity. Was not treated well from the second I walked in. I would avoid unless you seek confrontation! What a great dive bar! It's right on Main Street in Norman, so the parking is hit or miss, but it's just a couple of doors down from The Garage and the Red Brick Bar. My boss had a gig here, so some of us from work came out to hear him. Apparently there are fairly new owners to the bar, and now they have their liquor license. There was a $1 cover charge, and they offered $1 Natty Light, Miller High Life, or PBR. There was a decent crowd but not too crazy. It was a Thursday night, so I didn't expect it to be packed. The acoustics were decent, and man, can that dude, Mike, sing!! We had a terrific time! From the Budweiser mural across the wall, to the shuffleboard games, and the wagon wheel looking tables, you can tell this place has seen its fair share of times - good and bad. Does it need some updating? Sure! Will that keep me from returning? Absolutely not! read more

After eyeing this bar for the last four years I have lived in Norman, I finally made it in and it was everything I had hoped it would be. I love a good dive bar and this was one of the best. First of all, there is a huge, old-school Budweiser mural with clydesdales running through a stream. Check. Then there is a working jukebox with a GREAT selection of songs at a pretty good price (that I can't seem to remember for reasons unknown....). Check. There is also a shuffleboard table and scoreboard, that I admit have seen better days, but it still all works. Get over yourself and play a game or two! Pool tables. Darts. So, check check check for plenty of bar Olympics. It is a smoking bar, but there aren't an overwhelming number of regulars &/or heavy smokers and it seems that they keep the door open when the weather is nice so if that's an issue, you shouldn't be bothered. I'm pretty sensitive to cigarettes and I was fine. There are TVs at the bar showing sports. This bar is BEER and CASH ONLY, but you can get a tall boy of PBR for $2 so you don't have to take a lot of cash out for some drinks here. Open all week in the evenings. Crazy wagon wheel tables. Be sweet to the bartenders and regulars, they may seem a bit iffy about you at first, but if you are respectful and just have a good time, they accept you pretty quickly and all will be well. I felt right at home here. Friendly people, cold beer and karaoke. This my yelp friends is a dive bar, the best kind of bar in my opinion. There were a couple pool tables, the the place is a bit small, but there was room to dance. The ladies restroom was clean and well stocked. The beer selection was not impressive, but they had my fave Stella Artois. The ventilation system lack and the smoke was a bit stagnant, but noting out of the ordinary for a local gem like this and other hometown dive bars. The music the DJ played was everything to old country, rock and of all things soldier boy's "Crank Dat" lol. I recommend, and when in Norman I will visit again. read more

We have been here a couple times and had fun every time. It definitely doesnt feel like typical Norman inside the bluebonnet. It's just a small little hole in the wall type place, but they have decently priced drinks, live music some nights, and a couple pool tables. read more

Why do I not come here more often?! Self proclaimed lover of dive bars. Blue Bonnett offers none of those fancy things you find in non-dive bars. They don't take credit cards, they don't have liquor, and they don't spend their time washing glassware, stocking straws, or stuffing olives with blue cheese. If it weren't for the bathrooms in the corner and their flimsy wood-panel enclosures (standard in most chic dive bars) this place would be perfectly rectangular. I went to hear a hot country band from Austin. The cover was $5. The stage is just an area on the floor where the band plays. All tolled, I spent $10- two Natural Light tall boys for a buck apiece plus %150 tip. They have pool tables. They have darts. They have a jukebox that sounds good. The staff and the patrons were all friendly, and the vibe is only mildly hipster. If you get sick from smelling the second hand smoke you can always step outside. Also of note, there are a pair of (possibly) irreplaceable giant promotional beer murals that literally cover entire sections of the wall, with life size horses and trees and mountains and I am awed by them because I just can't imagine why anyone would ever produce an indoor beer ad of this magnitude- and they have more than one! Most of these sentences are just ways of saying the same thing- it's a great lil dive bar in the best of ways, and I'm thinking about going back tomorrow because I have a feeling the NASCAR race is going to be on the big screen. If I do, I'll check out the bathrooms, since I neglected to on my last visit... you know, to make sure they are covered in graffiti and stickers with cheap paper towels and no hot water- a definite must for any reputable dive bar. read more

Bluebonnet is nice little dive bar in downtown Norman. This bar often features local musicians, usually with a small cover ($5-$10). They only accept cash for cover and libations. Unfortunately, they only serve domestic beers (no spirits, ciders, food, etc.) Also, they allow smoking throughout the bar, which I'm not a fan of. There are a couple of pool tables, but otherwise not a lot of extra room. It's a pretty small place, not great for large groups, but fine for small groups of friends. I'd recommend if you want to check out local music, don't mind smoking, drink beer, and can bring cash. read more

Went there once on a weekday. It didn't seem too bad. I went back a year later with a different friend and visited several times. I like the smaller bar atmosphere. Peolple are very friendly and good tunes on the juke box. Pool tables are good too. When I return to the Norman area I will return to the Blue Bonnet for my drinking fun. read more
