two plates of food on a wooden table

Vegan options were absolutely delicious. I had the vegan wings and my sister had the vegan sloppy joe. Both dishes were super good! The only thing that was not-so-good was the all around texture (but that's to be expected in vegan substitutes). It would be nice to see the wings with a more saucy dressing. All in all, super yummy!

This is the hidden gem of Oklahoma's music scene, for indie music at least. A very small intimate space that amazingly enough books some high end talent as well as local and regional acts. Owned in part by member's of Oklahoma's own Starlight Mints, this is the best place in Norman to see a show. Think the Rome of old but on a much smaller scale. I have been to a number of shows here including Sebadoh, Reverend Organdrum (Jim Heath of the Reverend Horton Heat's side project), Calhoun, Bob Mould and even the legendary Genital Chaucer over the years. I've also been to a few private events by friends that have "bands" - basically just an excuse to get up and jam on a decent stage and play rock star for a night. All in all a great place to see a show and unlike other of Oklahoma's smaller venues they have great restrooms, are non smoking (unless you go onto the outside deck), have decently priced drinks and I don't believe I've ever paid much over $15 for any of their shows. How they accomplish this is beyond me when maximum capacity has to be well under 200, but I won't complain. There is a hipster vibe and but not overwhelmingly so and some very cool art can be found and apparently they allow if not encourage patrons to doodle their own graffitti on the walls, especially in the bathrooms. I highly recommend this place for a show. Their advertising budget must be nil because oftentimes I'll only find out an artist I like is playing here from the artist's website itself and if you drive by too quickly you'll miss it but don't miss out on one of Oklahoma's true great places to see a show.

Went up here to see Future Islands a couple days ago and had an awesomeeee time. It's a really intimate space (no bigger than a coffee house), but plenty of elbow room. I was even able to chat with each member of the band before the show! Best of all, tickets were only $10 a pop. Only reasons I wouldn't give it five stars: expensive beer, wouldn't let us in at 8:55 p.m. (when door technically opened at 9 p.m.) and it's cash-only. Other than that, it's a great place to see quality indie bands. Dunno what's up with the huge pictures of cats on the wall, but hey....Future Islands was great! Would come definitely come back again if a band I loved wasn't playing in DFW and the closest place they were playing at was in Norman, Oklahoma!

vegan wings and sloppy joe

Came here for their vegan lunch. It's a really nice, relaxing environment and good for conversations. The vegan options are plentiful. I tried the queso, cauliflower wings, and sloppy joe. The cauliflower was a little moist and the sloppy joe was grainy, but both still pretty good! The energy of the place was definitely my favorite part.

By far my favorite place in Norman. Great music, excellent vegan food, friendly staff, great drinks (including non-alcoholic options).

I do appreciate that it's non-smoking, because there's an outside patio for those who do smoke.

The Deli - Live Music in Norman!

The Deli

Just left here usually a fun time, friends and I always have good time...until tonight when my…read moresisters and I were trying to use the restroom as my sister sat down on the toilet the door got kicked in by two grown ass (40-50) women. One said "I know there are more stales in here open the fucking door" if you've been to the deli you would know there is only one toliet in the girls restroom. A grown male walked in to the restroom totally unprofessional and weird... The owner told us to get out obviously to de-escalate the situation this led to him telling us to get the fuck out as the bar was starting to close. We were just trying to tell him what happened as it was very uncomfortable, he then told us to use the mens restroom and it will be fine . If i were you i would avoid using the bathroom...because everyone felt like it was okay to watch you half naked/ felt in-tilted to kick the door open.

In a bar with only drinks to serve, hitting the service level to achieve a reasonable review of…read moresuccess should be easier; however, the only thing easy about The Deli was leaving, never to return. While the list of things wrong with this bar is longer than the lines at the restroom, mostly caused by the breaks taken by the staff to visit the facilities every fifteen minutes, I'll try to keep the problems to the most egregious. First, the bartenders couldn't be bothered to take an order. If you were lucky enough to make eye contact with one of them between their continuous arguments with each other, you were met with an uncanny ability to either forget your order within seconds or walk back to your table only to find the order was wrong. The line in the bar was quite long, not because the bar was packed with patrons, but rather because you would have to place your order multiple times, or return because it was an errant attempt at your order. The line was so long in fact, that multiple fights broke out while in line either between staff and customers or amongst the patrons themselves. Overall I believe the reason this place even stays open is it's near OU campus and doesn't have to work too hard to take advantage of the occasional new student, over served future middle management cog, or some out of town parents trying a local place. Do better.
