I came here for an EDM night. I'd been complaining that there is nothing going on in Norman, so I was thrilled when I heard about this. I had driven by Opolis many times, but had avoided the bar scene because I wasn't keen on running into people I'd gone to HS with. Luckily, the night I went there was no one from my HS class, in fact there weren't that many people at all and the music was fire! Normanites need to do better and support businesses and local music scenes like this. The cover charge was minimal at $8 and the drinks were good. read more

June 2, 2023 I went to Opolis tonight and it was a blast. From what I gather a group of "fascinating and eclectic young individuals" have shown enterpreuneuship and taken ownership of this club in the recent past and are putting together a unique vision into action. This is a good place for entertainment at University of Oklahoma - good people, good times and great experiences. I was a bit early and got introduced to these owners and it was the begining of the wonderful experience. - I had the delicious house Pineapple punch with rum which was excellent and just one glass put a "buzz in my turban" - I got to see the menu and noticed a yummy array of food but did not eat as I had already eaten my dinner! Will be there tomorrow to eat! - The ambience of the place reflects on the warmth and friendly nature of the ownership! The bar was well stocked and well kept, the premises were very clean and there was a sense of pride in what was being done. The outside patio was very charming! - The service was impeccable and as I mentioned in the earlier paragraphs there could not be a friendlier place! Thank you Addi, Lane, Eli, Sarah, Ethan and Julius for looking after me so well. You people are going to go places. To summarize, I had an excellent experience on the above these three categories and I will be going to the dance party on the 3rd!! I strongly recommend this venue for anybody's entertainment needs and a place to get together with friends! As far as entertainment- there was an out of state "modern country western band," Tommy Goodroad and his band, and it was their first gig in Oklahoma. It was excellent stuff played by a very talented band with the artists playing a whole spectrum of originals and cover music. Hope to see you all at the Opolis sometime soon. Have a great weekend!! Okay so it's a dive indie music venue and bar. The bands that play here are definitely my jam. But this place is a bit of a shit hole, a grimey little box. Regardless of that hipsters flock here. I will admit their back patio is super chill during NMF. I get what owners (and rockers!) Andy & Marian Nunez have tried to do here. In recent years they've added a full bar and redone their patio even adding vegan food. But said patio has also been a source of negativity they haven't been called out for. While I love their music (more A.M.P. please!), I am not into the way owners have bullied neighboring businesses over the years. First Tres Cantina and then vs Armando with Peubla. Both now out of business and it could be easily argued Opolis had a hand in their demise. Instead of sensible compromise Opolis owners used The Man (ie police, city coucil, etc) even fucking decible meters to hurt these businesses. Not cool. They need to share the love if they wanna make downtown Norman the diverse entertainment and arts destination it could be. A rising tide lifts all boats. read more

By far my favorite place in Norman. Great music, excellent vegan food, friendly staff, great drinks (including non-alcoholic options).

Good vibes, chill music, and the vegan food is delectable. Only wish they were open more days!

Vegan options were absolutely delicious. I had the vegan wings and my sister had the vegan sloppy joe. Both dishes were super good! The only thing that was not-so-good was the all around texture (but that's to be expected in vegan substitutes). It would be nice to see the wings with a more saucy dressing. This is the hidden gem of Oklahoma's music scene, for indie music at least. A very small intimate space that amazingly enough books some high end talent as well as local and regional acts. Owned in part by member's of Oklahoma's own Starlight Mints, this is the best place in Norman to see a show. Think the Rome of old but on a much smaller scale. I have been to a number of shows here including Sebadoh, Reverend Organdrum (Jim Heath of the Reverend Horton Heat's side project), Calhoun, Bob Mould and even the legendary Genital Chaucer over the years. I've also been to a few private events by friends that have "bands" - basically just an excuse to get up and jam on a decent stage and play rock star for a night. All in all a great place to see a show and unlike other of Oklahoma's smaller venues they have great restrooms, are non smoking (unless you go onto the outside deck), have decently priced drinks and I don't believe I've ever paid much over $15 for any of their shows. How they accomplish this is beyond me when maximum capacity has to be well under 200, but I won't complain. There is a hipster vibe and but not overwhelmingly so and some very cool art can be found and apparently they allow if not encourage patrons to doodle their own graffitti on the walls, especially in the bathrooms. I highly recommend this place for a show. Their advertising budget must be nil because oftentimes I'll only find out an artist I like is playing here from the artist's website itself and if you drive by too quickly you'll miss it but don't miss out on one of Oklahoma's true great places to see a show. read more

Went up here to see Future Islands a couple days ago and had an awesomeeee time. It's a really intimate space (no bigger than a coffee house), but plenty of elbow room. I was even able to chat with each member of the band before the show! Best of all, tickets were only $10 a pop. Only reasons I wouldn't give it five stars: expensive beer, wouldn't let us in at 8:55 p.m. (when door technically opened at 9 p.m.) and it's cash-only. Other than that, it's a great place to see quality indie bands. Dunno what's up with the huge pictures of cats on the wall, but hey....Future Islands was great! Would come definitely come back again if a band I loved wasn't playing in DFW and the closest place they were playing at was in Norman, Oklahoma! read more

The pearl of the Norman music scene, Opolis is owned by two members of the Starlight Mints, one of Oklahoma's best indie bands. They have great shows from local, regional, and national acts, with prices averaging about $10. Depending on the band, there's always a different crowd; expect lots of hipsters and college kids. They have cheap 3.2 beer and it's a really intimate little joint. I've been to a half a dozen shows there, and will keep going back! read more

Came here for their vegan lunch. It's a really nice, relaxing environment and good for conversations. The vegan options are plentiful. I tried the queso, cauliflower wings, and sloppy joe. The cauliflower was a little moist and the sloppy joe was grainy, but both still pretty good! The energy of the place was definitely my favorite part. read more

Opolis is a local indie music venue. Very cool pictures of cats on the walls. I've seen many great bands there, prices range from $8-$15 and I've always been happy going there. I believe they have dance night on Thursdays. I've never been, but I hear it's fun. They sell beer and other various refreshments. It's also non-smoking, which is a plus for people who don't like going to smokey clubs. They even have some benches along the side to those who can't stand the whole show. This is the venue for any independent music you might wish to see. Maybe I'll see you there sometime! read more

My favorite venue in the entire OKC metro area. Seriously, it's that good. They recently changed over to 21+ (well, within the last year?) and I don't mind because I'm over 21. You couldn't tell it, because it still attracts huge crowds. I live in far northwest OKC, but I will make the drive to Norman in a heartbeat (even on nights where it takes close to 45 minutes, or an hour with traffic) to see great shows. I don't believe I've ever paid more than 9 bucks for a show here, and the bar is awesome. I do appreciate that it's non-smoking, because there's an outside patio for those who do smoke. One of my biggest complaints about other venues are that they allow smoking inside and I HATE that. This is literally the best place I've been to in OKC to see a show. For someone who's only ever heard about Cain's and the Tulsa venues.....Opolis is what I'd imagine is our Cain's if we had to pick. No other venues in this city compare. Love ya, Opolis. you know how athletes have home field advantage? thats how i feel when i go to the opolis. this is my hometowns best live venue, and does a hell of a job. capacity is around 150, but a big show will pack 200+ in. has a great list of incredible acts that have played here. some of my favorite non local acts have included blitzen trapper, of montreal, girl talk, black mountain, starlight mints, and tobacco. i've seen easily well over a hundred shows here and can't remember a bad one. the owners are musicians and great people and are huge supporters of the local music and arts in norman and oklahoma city. read more

Coming from a city with lots of indie music options, I was a little worried about moving to OK. Opolis ranks up there with any of the places I've been before, and I saw a show last week that would have cost me twice as much in my previous city. They get lots of excellent bands, for example I saw a group I was prepared to go to Bonnaroo to see because I thought they'd never come here. It's a small venue, which means you'll never have trouble seeing. There is some limited seating if you don't feel like standing. There is also a bar at the back and you can re-enter with your wristband if you want to go outside for a bit. In my case, tickets were about the same price after the service charge as if you buy at the door. read more

Best vegan food in Norman! The outdoor patio has a European style snack bar that serves an impressive assortment of vegetarian and vegan staples like burgers, wings, nachos and pot pie. We ate the best burger and pot pie I've ever tasted. Inside the full bar served spiked apple cider and apple punch; amazing for the November cold! read more

I was really impressed to see such a cool music venue in small town OK. I really liked the space (and the pictures of kittens on the walls), and I had no trouble getting to the front and being able to see (I'm 5'2"), which is again, impressive. This is a decent enough venue in Norman. Almost like a mini Conserva..., I mean 89th St Collective. It definitely gets packed in there and it isn't the nicest venue in the world, but at least they have two bars: one outside and one inside. The drinks were also very reasonably priced with most liquor drinks at just $6. They also have a specialty cocktail along with the well drinks and beers. I'm surprised it took me this long to come to Opolis considering they get some legit acts from time to time. It's just always a struggle to get me to go to Norman. Maybe I'll be less of a stranger now though! read more

I've lived in several much larger cities, but this remains one of my all-time favorite music venues. The variety of beers and liquors available is top notch. The punch is always an inexpensive but tasty option. The owners are competent, friendly people who have quite a knack for booking tremendous acts. read more
