Food is great, always fresh and hot. No sitting under a warmer. Good selection and friendly service.

I loved this place so much!…read more It's quirky, it's nostalgic, it's fun. We were there for lunch, so no live music, but there is a full calendar of acts. The food was fantastic! The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

Not good at all…read more Ordered 1/2# brisket + 1/2# pulled pork + 1/2 rack of baby-back ribs + a pint of beans & a pint of cole slaw + some original BBQ sauce = $68. The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.

Leatha's Barbeque used to be a four star joint to me. Their featured signature item USED to be the…read moreBBQ beef ribs. Since they moved to Petal they have gone waaaaay downhill and they really are no longer the same restaurant anymore. I've been trying for YEARS ever since they moved to Petal to get beef ribs or beef brisket and they NEVER have it! Just ONCE they told me they had some but it wouldn't be ready for many more hours. I don't eat pork and pork seems to be all they ever have here. Well after over one hundred attempts over the years to eat some beef BBQ here I've finally given up as they just obviously have no motivation to offer it anymore so I've got no motivation to even try anymore... Here is my review from back when they were actually still Leatha's Barbeque: "I've been eating at Letha's for many years going waaay back to when she was serving in a house. I REALLY miss when the beef bbq ribs were served on the BONE. They were these huge Fred Flintstone dinosaur bones that had huge amounts of meat on them!!! Now you just get the meat pulled off the bone so that takes away the gnawing off the bone joy of the bbq beef ribs :( If the bone sucking and gnawing joy was still there this would be a total five star place but it is still mighty fine bbq and well worth a visit. I do my best to stop here and grab some whenever I'm in the area but there are some surprise closures and odd hours I've discovered so it is wise to call ahead and make sure they are open when you are planning on going. Leatha told us right after ole Andrew Zimmern came that "that man just took one bite of that coon 'n opossum and wasted the rest." FYI they don't have any of that on the menu so don't expect to see that." So sad to see this classic BBQ joint I've been eating at since I was a kid decline to the point it is now...

The jambalaya has just the right kick, the macaroni is rich and creamy, and the baked beans have that perfect smoky sweetness. Honestly, I could go on and on about the food because everything I've tried has been consistently delicious and made with care. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. The portions are generous, the service is always friendly and welcoming, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. Every penny is absolutely worth it. If you want real, flavorful BBQ and good Southern cooking, this is definitely the spot.

Sweet Daddy's use to be down in Mandeville many, many years ago but they decided to close down the second location. My wife got the chopped brisket sandwich and she truly enjoyed it and she said it was delicious. I had the boneless rib sandwich with corn nuggets and green beans.. Again everything was truly great, with amazing smoke flavor but not too much! It was so good we decided to get The Kick Off Deal for my daughter & her family because she had a Cochlear Implant done today. She and my son-in-law both have called to tell me how good it was since then. We even brought a pound of chopped brisket & a full rack of ribs home for our house. Y'all need to come back to Mandeville!!
