It really is a very cool space. Kevin Szymanski is the house engineer and has worked with lots of famous bands you know-from Foo Fighters, to Matchbox 20, to John Hiatt, to Queens of the Stone Age to Faith Hill. If you are recording in Austin, you need to check this place out. If you are not recording in Austin, you should re-think those plans and come to Austin to record. His ears, attitude, and professionalism impressed me, and I will be recommending him to friends. I'm a hobbyist home recorder and have been working on a demo for a new project. I found East Side Tone through Yelp and set up a couple hours with Eric to get a second set of ears on my mix. He was an excellent teacher and demonstrated mastery of his craft. Sitting in the control room with him, he exudes creativity and positive energies. You do not feel 'on the clock' or like you're purchasing a commodified product. Although we only spent a couple hours mixing, I could see how valuable Eric's creative input would be in each phase of production. If you're considering buying a couple hours of studio time for one facet of your album, I would urge you to consider booking a couple of days with Eric and have him guide you end-to-end. I wish I had.
