We are so disappointed in Chris and this company. We ordered roller shades for 16 windows and 2 sliding glass doors. The ordering process was smooth and deliver was quick...we were pleased, at first. However, when they came to install, they did not have the valance material for 6 of the windows and the 2 sliding glass doors. They installed what they could, with a promise to order the correct valance material and come to install when received. What was installed looks and works great. But, we have been waiting *10 months* for the valance material. We have called, emailed, and texted. At first, Chris said the factory was behind because of Covid (totally understandable!!). Then we were told the material was in and the installers would come on a certain date....but never came. We rescheduled multiple times. One time, Chris even told me they would be to my house in 45 minutes. I'm still waiting, 6 weeks later. We have left multiple messages and texts...Chris doesn't even answer my calls anymore nor does he call or text back. I have left messages offering to come pick up the valance material....saying we will figure out how to install it ourselves....to no avail. Chris totally ignores my calls. Chris Dugan has been under police investigation for several years because he takes your deposit and doesn't return to do the work. My home was an $8k job. He asked for half the deposit, which we gave him, then failed to show up. This has nothing to do with Covid. Don't just take my word for it-check on all google forums, he's done this for years using different company names and ripping off the elderly. read more

C.D.told me two weeks it was five months later. After 5 months they were installed,they came out nice but I noticed that the screw covers were missing. The installer stated he did not receive any screw covers and that he would inform Chris. I waited...I finally text C and called ,he never got back with me. This company has an F rating with BBB. I have been waiting over 3 months for my shutters. I have not heard from Chris the owner. He calls every couple of months to say he is delivering and never shows up. I don't know why he is not in jail by now. He took my $1,500 and I have no window treatment. His website is fake. BEWARE!!!!! Hired blind shack back in October 2019. They came in December to install my plantation shutters and had the order wrong. Left me with items I did not order and left my house a mess. They told me they would bring me my order in a few weeks and make everything right. Here we are end of January and nothing yet. I called last week spoke to a guy on Monday who said he would call me right back, never did. I've called everyday since then several times a day and no answer it goes to a voicemail that is full. read more

We invited Chris Dugan, owner of The Blind Shack in Jupiter FL to our residence on June 28 2020 to measure and provide a quote for creating and installing plantation style shutters for 19 windows and 4 sliding doors. He provided an quote of $6700 and said installation would be 3-4 weeks. We gave him a $3000 deposit.  In late July we began inquiring when our shutters would be ready for installation as we were moving into the home on Aug 10. Although several appointments  were made (and subsequently cancelled or ignored) to install the shutters, the actual installation didn't take place until August 28 2020. Final payment of $3700 was remitted to The Blind Shack at the time of installation.  After a couple of days, it was noticed that the slats of the shutters on the sliding doors were sagging. We placed a call to Chris to inquire about fixing the shutters. At the time of placing our order, Chris did express some concern about the width of the slats, but confirmed with his manufacturer that shutters of these dimensions could be made without a sagging issue. Chris finally came back to access the sagging issue on September 19 2020. We were told it could be fixed and he would take care of it the next day. September 24, he sent his installer to "adjust" the slats. This was not a solution to the sagging problem.  Chris then said he could fix the shutters at his workshop but would take the shutters first thing in the morning, have them repaired, and bring them back the same day so we wouldn't be without them for more than a day. It took 11 days and several failed appointments for the shutters to be removed for repair on October 5 2020.  After 17 more days on October 22, the shutters were finally reinstalled only to find that not only were the slats still sagging, but additional damage to the paint and frames of the shutters had been sustained during the process of removing and reinstalling.  At this point, we were 4 months into our arrangement with Chris Dugan, and were more than dissatisfied with the quality and service we received. We had repeatedly been ignored and lied to. We had shutters that were in worse shape than before. Chris promised to contact another manufacturer that he was "positive" could remake the shutters without the sagging. He suggested we leave the damaged shutters in our home until the new ones could be made. He promised to call the next day with details.  We decided the shutters were too damaged and sagging to stay in our home and had Chris' installer take them away the same day.  No details regarding the new shutters were provided the next day as promised. After several unanswered text and phone call attempts to find out the status of the reorder, we decided that the best course of action for us was to terminate the relationship with a company that had repeatedly not provided goods and services as promised.  Since our original quote for all the shutters did not itemize the individual shutter prices, we calculated a price based on square footage. The sliding doors measure 121 square feet. Research showed a range of $20-$45 per square feet for plantation shutters. Using the least expensive estimate, we calculated 121 sq feet x $20 = $2420. We had a phone conversation with Chris on October 24 and requested a $2000 refund for the sliding door shutters only... a more than fair offer. He said he would confirm the amount designated for the sliding door shutters only and get back to us.  We followed up via text with Chris after a couple of days without a response. He finally responded that he thought he was going to remake the shutters. We reminded him of our refund request and he has since ignored all of our texts and phone calls. We believe our offer to get a refund for less than it would cost us to replace the shutters with another company, considering the significant amount of time lost and inconvenience and the repeated lack of professionalism, is more than reasonable.  We are demanding a refund in the amount of $2000 for shutters that were not delivered as promised.  Furthermore, we caution anyone considering using The Blind Shack to take their business elsewhere. Chris Dugan is a liar and a cheater and has no professionalism or integrity. We have never dealt with a more deceiving individual. read more

I wish I had read reviews on Chris and Blind Shack - but honestly the job was booked by my predecessor and a 50% deposit was paid in August of 2020. Then he ghosted us. No replies to calls, emails. I came onboard in November and have been trying since then to get a refund. $1,170 isn't much to pay back to make things right. He claims via email (the only thing he replies to) that "I have no lawsuits I am not sure what you're referring to we've never done anything wrong some people just had to wait a little longer during covid-19 were not willing to do that but we had to go to court and it was proven that we did everything by the law the customers just had to wait till it came in but thank you for checking I appreciate that." Still no check. I highly recommend that you stay far away from this company. I highly recommend Dan at Custom Window Decor in Jupiter. Very responsive, communicative, timely. read more
