    Steak, mash and crispy onions.

We used a great deal through Dealrush. €45 for 2 course for two, bottle of wine and 2 cinema tickets so in terms of value you couldn't beat that. Chicken wings to start for me followed by steak and mash - massive portions and gorgeous! My husband had the burger and fries... There wasn't a crumb left! We'll be back!!!!

It's remarkable that in these hard times we still somehow manage to find the money to fill our bellies at a swanky restaurant while cheering ourselves up at the not inconsiderable expense of the wine list. Well, we all have to eat and logically it does make sense to spend money on good food instead of begrudgingly handing over our hard earned pennies to some random barman. So, with the beginning of September and the beginning of an early winter I needed some cheering up in the food department and as my little sister needed even more cheering up than I did I invited her along to the new local restaurant which I've heard nothing but good things about. One of the better things I heard was that the prices are pretty amazing for the quality you get plus it's right beside the Luas stop so you don't need to give a taxi driver half your wages when he invariably gets lost on the way home! First impressions of the restaurant were surprisingly good with a warm glow from tasteful mood lights offset by the efficient service of the impeccably mannered staff. The food was, of course, the best part! My stuffed mushrooms were perfectly seasoned and dressed beautifully, just the right amount for a starter and in no way too filling. The sisters goat's cheese was a work of art and we spent more time talking about it than she spent eating it - it was really that good! For main course we answered the call of the primitive inside us and ordered up a round of medium-rare steaks which came exactly as ordered but unusually for a steak restaurant they came sitting on a bed of perfectly wonderful mash and a generous sprinkling of mushrooms along with very decent fries. At first I thought they had made a mistake and given us extra sides but they were included in the price of the steak! Amazing! Unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert but we certainly had money left had we wanted one . It's remarkable that such good food can be sold for slightly more than what Eddie Rockets charges for a crappy burger. All this and right on our doorstep! :o)

The food here is great! I ordered the Pan-Fried Sea Bass, served with pea risotto and chorizo. The risotto was nice and creamy with hidden juicy sundried tomatoes in it. The bass was a little overcooked but was a great dish. My companion was really happy with her steak. Dessert was delicious, we shared a bread and butter pudding and a sticky toffee pudding. The house red was nice too. The staff were a little less prompt and efficient as I would have liked, but all in all I will revisit here.

I thought the creamy oysters took the cake. Pro tip: come during Happy Hour and get a euro off each oyster!

Our first meal in Dublin was at The Old Mill Restaurant, right in the heart of Temple Bar. It's been serving traditional Irish fare since the 1980s and has become a favorite stop for both locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. Both were exactly what we hoped for: hearty, flavorful, and perfect after a day of sightseeing. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious. That kind of hospitality made a great meal even more memorable.

They told us our table was ready at the same time they were seating a walk-in. Our table was next to the window with decent space between tables, I saw the walk-in complain that where he was getting sat was in the middle of the restaurant with no space between the next table. He ended up just taking our table even with the waitress saying it wasn't his. They just shrugged and told us to sit in the middle. The mussels were good, and they had gluten free bread, but there were limited gluten free options, even the Shepards pie wasn't gluten free. I was hoping a mash potato topping would be available, but only the Irish stew. This had lamb, but also chicken, so you had to hunt down the lamb. The beef stew was good, but the overall experience and being squeezed in shoulder to shoulder made me feel like I stumbled into a tourist trap. I wouldn't recommend.

When we first walked in we were immediately hit by the smell of seafood. It wasn't too overpowering but I don't really like the smell of it as it makes me nauseous. We were contemplating either staying & just dealing with it until the hostess asked if we would like to sit outside which I immediately said yes. The outside seating is not out in the elements but rather in an enclosed patio but you still get plenty of fresh air and for me, could not smell the seafood which was a good thing. The enclosed patio (outdoor seating) was not loud at all, though we were the only ones sitting out there but I don't see it getting loud like the main restaurant as there are only 4 tables out there. With the decor of the of the patio (bamboo, miniature Japanese maples, a Buddha, etc.) it gives you a very calming & tranquil feeling. On to the menu....it is off the charts! So many things to choose from that all sounded so yummy we didn't know where to begin! We decided to start with their Beef Gyosa, which is a Japanese grilled beef dumpling with ginger, garlic, sake wine & soy sauce and oh so delicious! My daughter ordered the Massaman Lamb. This dish is a slow cooked Thai lamb with baby potatoes, red onions & crushed peanuts. It looked like a lamb stew (see picture), and it was served with steamed rice and vegetables. My daughter loved it! I ordered the Spicy Chicken & Basil. It is wok fried chicken breasts with basil, ginger & soy sauce, served with fried rice & steamed vegetables. Loved it! All the food was very light, not heavy on the stomach, and had unbelievable flavor! It actually reminded me of a restaurant in my own town in California that I love and it is also called Lemongrass. I kind of think they forgot about us as we were the only ones sitting in the patio area and it took quite a while and several attempts to get our check. We did speak with a woman who I think was the owner as she came to check on us. She was very nice & friendly. We discussed various food types, the restaurants delicious food and when we got on to Korean food she mentioned a Korean restaurant in the town of Dublin (we were on the outskirts in Saggart which is South of Dublin) that was good and then she started saying she was graving it. Pretty funny & friendly. All in all, it was a very good restaurant and food was great! When we got back to our hotel (next door) we noticed in their room service menu that you can order Lemongrass food from room service & have it delivered. Can't get anymore convenient then that! If you're staying at the City West Hotel & Golf Restaurant I would definitely recommend this restaurant. And if you're not but you want a nice treat I also recommend coming here for some delicious Thai Asian Fusion food. Food pricing is not inexpensive by any means, it's more a mid range to a little expensive but it's worth it in my opinion. The food is delicious and the flavors will pop in your mouth!

I won't tell you what the ingredients list includes because you should try it first yourself but it will blow your mind. That's right. Tartar sauce has the ability to BLOW YOUR MIND. The smoked almonds are delightful and the 0% alc pale ale was a lovely companion to the F&C. My plate had a healthy portion of both fish and chips and I even left some chips behind but one person in my group took to soaking her chips in the amazing malt vinegar provided. I had to go double duty, first splashing chips and fish with vinegar AND then going in hard on the tartar. Why leave chips behind? I ran out of tartar sauce! Finishing up with the lemon posset which I also HIGHLY recommend but don't ignore the sticky toffee pudding. Our group got both desserts and shared which worked out well. I made a reservation & arrived perfectly on time, just to find out ... I made the reservation for the wrong day. Fish Shop was fully booked out (& it's a small place!) so they could not accommodate me. I had to leave. I actually cried outside on the street. Gluten-free fish & chips is a big deal to me! So in 2026, I made a reservation for myself FAR in advance & made absolute certain that it was the CORRECT day. I did hold my breath just a little bit when I arrived, but I was good to go. The shop is tight - not a lot of room to move around. Unfortunately I was seated right by the door, so every time someone came in or out, I was blasted by cold air. I forgive. I ordered a skin contact Austrian wine & haddock fish & chips (gluten free, of course) & it all came out in a reasonable time. Everything was just spectacular. The fish was crispy, flaky, & perfectly done. The fries were thick & the malt vinegar was strong. The wine was weird & a perfect pairing. I really wish this spot wasn't across the ocean from me. I'll certainly be back every time I'm in the city.
