I was even surprised that they offered services to take your dog to the vet, get necessary vaccinations etc. They did a great job in providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere; I was worried because this was the first time I was leaving her for a trip. They have activities for your dog and social events with other dogs, and don't just leave them in a kennel only to walk them to go to the bathroom. I love Blakemoore. They style my senior, one-eyed shih tzu Lucy Marie and provided her with a patient, gentle bath and haircut. When I dropped her off and picked her up, all of the staff there were very loving toward Lucy and asked thoughtful questions about her and the style I was looking for (with senior dogs, always "whatever you can manage"). When I picked her up, she was smiling and looks phenomenal, smells so good, and is very soft. The pictures below are from today. When I brought her in, she was a shaggy mess with some matting on her paws. I just adopted her and she needed a total makeover. I can't recommend the friends at Blakemoore enough! We've been searching for a convenient and safe daycare for our boy Whiskey who is a 10 month old big puppy with LOTS of energy. Whiskey comes home exhausted because of a full day of play with other dogs that match his energy. He gets so excited once we walk up to the front door to drop him off. A couple of years ago my husband and I drove through New Orleans on our way across the country. We had our dog Waffles with us and I have to admit, we did not plan our trip well and totally miscalculated how much it would be to keep a puppy (she was only a few months at the time) in a hotel room or with a Rover dog watcher, let alone having to deal with her separation anxiety. We did a quick search on Yelp and Blakemoore Bark had amazing reviews so we gave them a call. Our dog wasn't spayed at the time so I thought that was going to be a huge problem, Channing (the owner) was quick and kind enough to solve our problem by isolating our girl in her own area, but with plenty of love from the staff. They sent me pictures of her riding a little bike thing haha, and even called up our vet for her vaccination requirements (yup, we forgot those too... we were such a mess). On top of that, we spent like 15 minutes just talking about how he started his business and his love for dogs, along with local places to visit and eat that weren't super touristy. We felt like we were inside VIP-ers! Waffles stayed there a few nights and came back clean and so happy! The reason I'm writing this review now is because even years later, after trying out MANY other different dog hotels, across multiple different states, we haven't found a place that we love as much as Blakemoore Bark, with the same kind of service - full of dedication, kindness, and creative thinking. This was our first time boarding our dog and I couldn't have been more disappointed. Communication before dropping him off was good, and I felt like he was going to be taken care of. However, upon dropping him off we received zero communication. I had to call multiple times and no one knew which dog I was talking about. I explained he has never been to daycare before and wanted to know how he was doing, and I had to describe which dog was mine and pretty much got a "yeah okay I see him. He's outside. He went to the bathroom." Okay.. is he eating? Is he playing? each time I called they promised picture updates. About 2 hours before I picked him up they uploaded pictures ... OF A DIFFERENT DOG. I emailed them to let them know and they told me it was a "mixup" with uploading. They then uploaded a handful of pictures clearly all taken in the same ten seconds. The pictures all showed my dog covered in eye goo. When we arrived to pick him up, no one answered the phone. I had to flag someone down on the side. They brought out my dog after about 10 minutes and then they had to go find all of his belongings which were all not together and apparently scattered in different places. His blanket was not even with his bed. They then returned with the wrong blanket before they finally found the right one. ***after bringing him home, we learned our dog developed a UTI while in their care due to not having enough water available to him. read more

I was on a long road trip cross country but decided to stop in New Orleans to explore a bit. I brought my 2 dogs in for a day of doggy daycare, the staff was super helpful and friendly. You need proof of vaccine that are up to date, but they can get that faxed from the dogs vet. they welcome new pets which was great because many businesses need time before to allow services. Overall I had a great experience Dakota was super nice and helpful and answered any questions I had. It was their first time at a doggy daycare so I called to check in on them, and they were happy to give me an update on how they're were doing. The prices are very are fair which was a plus! We used Blakemoore Bark after being referred to them by friends. Blakemoore was quick to reply and reserved dates for us. Due to a pending storm and having to leave town for it, I contacted them and they agreed to take my dogs a day ahead of time. When I arrived it was raining. I called the number and I was instructed to wait outside, which was annoying. A few minutes later, I met with a staff member outside, and I got a bad first impression and vibe. But, due to the storm and having to leave town, I had no choice but to leave my dogs there. Before leaving, I was informed I had to pay for the services prior to leaving. I was somewhat apprehensive about paying before services were complete, thinking to myself what if they are negligent and my dogs die or end up getting hurt. But, this was their policy, and I paid. When I paid, I was asked if I wanted to tip the staff, which struck me as odd. Why would I tip before receiving services? Tipping is done after services are rendered. While the dogs were there, the staff emailed us once with pictures. I looked at them, I could tell they seemed stressed and the shine from their coats were gone. When I came to pick up my dogs, the staff member brought me the bowls and dog food container outside and I noticed the bowls smelled like dog urine. When the staff member brought my dogs out, both reeked of dog urine and their coats lacked their softness and shine. I had to bathe them as soon as we got home. All in all, I would not suggest using this place, especially for their price. Perhaps I should have followed my initial instincts. read more

Loki, my minature poodle, and I have been spending the month down here in NOLA. It's our first time visiting - we're from The Great Frozen North aka.Michigan - and we're having a ball. Everyone has been so kind and have gone out of their way to be friendly...perhaps a little to friendly in Loki's case. He apparently got to comfy with a few NOLA fleas!! I did not know this when I originally called Blakemoore and talked with Channing about an overdue grooming and doggy daycare. He was utterly charming and so welcoming and enthusiastic. He even made time to squeeze Loki into his extremely full schedule only two days later. Ryan was there to greet us and so patient with Loki's nerves. He's a lover, and has been almost overly popular as we've walked miles around the city, thus he's been extra clingy. A little itchy too, but I thought it was the heat. I had the greatest confidence in their bonding. What a relief! Later Channing called me to let me know that while Loki was quite chipper he'd picked up some bad company and needed a flea bath! Suddenly feeling a bit itchy myself, I of course agreed. Later Channing called me again to assure me everything was good and Loki seemed to be enjoying hanging out with some doggy buds. When I picked him up, Channing explained that NOLA has a breed of super fleas who are basically immune to the Frontline Plus and additional flea collar that were quite effective up north. He recommended I get him to the vet the next day for a dose of something effective here. He also suggested a vet near my home in Algiers, taught me about the flu virus with dogs down here and have me a number of other tips and information. Even suggested some sights and restaurants to try! So we're off to the vet today and I'm eager to have him back for day care a few times in the next couple weeks as well!! Im so grateful to have had Channing come to our rescue!! That said, let me take another minute or two to rave about Loki's grooming...it it the very best he has ever had. Channing had to trim him duper short because of the fleas and my having delayed way too long for a trim. Yet even so, he managed to keep Loki looking adorable and imp faced. He also managed to pluck the inside of his ears to baby's butt smoothness. This was especially impressive as a groomer a year or so basically ripped up his ears and no one, including the vets, been able to pluck since. I was lucky if he let me get in and trim them a bit. Channing knew this but tells me he had no trouble at all! He's either the real Dog Whisperer or he's serving them a doggie daiquiri with his grooming. I'm just amazed and grateful. I got Loki at a shelter after an elderly woman had to give him up. I doubt he'd ever been alone in the first 3.5 years of his life. My being retired has probably added to the illusion that's normal. In any case he drools buckets and then velcro himself to my body for the next 24 hours , if he's left alone longer than 2 hours. Thus I wasn't sure he'd even be able to do daycare, which meant even in dog friendly NOLA, I was going to miss out on seeing some great places ! Happily, it looks like Loki will be hanging out at the Blakemoore a couple days a week and I'll be touring galleries and museums. The only question remaining is how I'm going to fit Channing in the trunk of my Beetle when I kidnap and take him back to Michigan with us!! read more

My pup loves Blakemoore Bark! (He is normally great on a leash, but excitedly drags me down the block when we start to head towards Blakemoore.) We tried other places and he would get over-stimulated and sometimes misbehave, but the staff at Blakemoore Bark are caring and attentive, and encourage safe and fun playtime amongst all the dogs. The smaller atmosphere is great. They are a lovely bunch of people, and I feel totally comfortable leaving my puppy there whether it's for an overnight stay or a fun play day! These guys are freakin awesome! I'm new to the area and had to travel out of town. Chi has never been away from family overnight since he adopted us. He stayed 2 nights and did doggy daycare during his 3 days there. The staff humored my neurotic phone calls checking in on him...reassuring me of his comfort. When I picked Chi up he was, of course excited to see me and the staff went the extra mile to tell me of his good behavior and the fun he had. We returned for doggy daycare 4 days later. Chi himself assured me of his previous good time ... he whined driving up and practically dragged me to the front door in his excitement to get inside. Upon pick up the staff at the front desk gave hugs and love on Chi's exit and he in returned gave kisses, something usually only saved for and given to family. I am an overprotective dog mom, admittedly. Monty and I are attached at the hip, but Monty has serious anxiety and likes to hump other dogs when he gets nervous. I am so embarrassed when he does it, but he does it out of stress from other dogs who are his size. However, he loves smaller dogs. From the start, I knew this place would be the right fit for my puppy. Everyone who answered my 700 calls with questions and concerns answered me in detail and was very patient with my anxiety. I took Monty to Blakemoore to do an assessment, and Julian was so kind to me and Monty. He let me watch to make sure that everything was going to be okay and when I came back, Monty was wagging his tail and had made a new friend. He hung out with the smaller dogs all day! I really feel like my concerns were heard in detail and Monty got the specialized care I want him to have. No request is too big here. Their staff was willing to work with my problematic and frustrating dog. There are never too many dogs there so they all get the attention they need. I am so happy, and so is my baby Monty! I will definitely come back to help Monty learn to socialize a little better! read more

I used to send my pup here all the time and she loved it but I know she prefers to stay at home so I found an in house dog sitter that would stay with her while I was away. He recently moved out of state with little notice and I had to scramble to find a place for Orleans, my pup, to stay over Thanksgiving. The wonderful people at Blakemoore were super responsive and helpful while I was trying to find all her up to date vet records. They were even thoughtful enough to double check with me about her feeding schedule. Orleans is very spoiled and let's me know when she's not happy (only child syndrome) but she's always happy and healthy when I pick her up. I couldn't be happier with my Blakemoore Bark experience!! I made a last minute trip to NOLA, and although my hotel was pet-friendly, I knew my mini schnauzer would be happier at a pet daycare. I can't believe how lucky we were to find this place!!! It was right around the corner from the hotel, so I walked my buddy over & he spent two nights. I received pictures each day of his walks and he got extra play time with new dog friends. The staff was SUPER friendly and accommodating and the facility was very clean and cute! Had to pick my dog up before service provided. My pet was scared, shaking head bowed, trama. Blood blister under tongue. 1 yr old pup. Took to vet immediately. I was Told by groomer he was aggresive at shop. And a towel had to be thrown over him to try to service him or calm him. My pet was scared and pooed all over and looked like they hosed him down for us to pick him up. Whatever happened, there is no excuse. No cameras? You can not put several animals into groups of dogs witout having some sort of introduction. My Vet had No problems other than trying to stop his shaking and fear. And trying to check out his blood bruise. I know my pet and any animal will show protective behavior when feeling scared or hurt. He has NEVER showen biting behaivor. He is a barker only. The groomer should reevaluate how they handle new pets and install cameras so the truth will be know without question. I wish this business well but, i do not recommend. read more

Super excited to find a groomer I could trust in the New Orleans area, I booked an appointment for my sweet fur baby Payton. My experience was sadly disappointing. Initially, I was a bit concerned dropping my pup off because I had not been actually asked what style of cut I desired. I was told by staff that the groomer would call prior to servicing my pup, however, that call never came. Not only was my dog's cut rushed and uneven all over her body, the hair on her ears was cut so short it's practically the length of her actual ears. She is a poodle. Her ears have never been cut so low. Prior to the appointment, I was assured that the groomer had experience with poodles but that was unfortunately not reflected in the services rendered. Staff also seemed to have a negative disposition and were not that accommodating. They were, however, adamant about charging me more for the services provided even though lacking real obvious effort. They also refused to let me see my dog without paying first which has never happened in the 9 years I've had my dog. I paid but will not be returning. I suggest you ask very specific questions prior to securing their services if you truly care about your dog because they do not communicate like most professional establishments should. read more
