They do an ok job, they're the most expensive of the uptown groomers but the owner is very sour and I don't know why.

Boarding went okay, although our Shih Tzu was panting when we picked him up because he was sooooo hot. The reason for the 3 stars, was the grooming. The area around our Shih Tzu's mouth and his anus were shaved VERY close and of course his ears itched. Water or soap in them?? ‍ One last comment, the grooming is done about 4-5 blocks away from where they board them and the dog collar and shampoo had been left at the groomers, so when we paid for boarding we had to go to another location to retrieve the dog collar and his shampoo. read more

Zeus? Absolutely Not! I scheduled dog grooming for my large dog. I was instructed to drop her off at 8:30 am and that they would start her early so she didn't have to wait in a cage all day. We arrived at 8:30 a.m. as instructed. My Newfoundland spent four and a half hours in a cage with no water, At 12:50 p.m. I learned that my dog was still in the cage and they had not even started. And I'm being generous. Switched the grooming of my puppies to Pawlins on River Road. Outstanding. Incredible facility, incredible service, so accommodating and the dogs loved it. So happy when I picked them up. And they are gorgeous. Left feeling valued, heard and grateful. Can't believe I stayed at Zeus' so long. You see, I believed in their mission. So I accepted their brutal service model. But when my dogs returned to me butchered yet again, I had to go. Lesson learned. Go to where you are valued and where your dogs will truly be loved. Please note that I have not used Zeus' Place for boarding or grooming as my big girl isn't with me anymore. BUT I have donated towels to their rescue efforts and occasionally played with their animals up for adoption through their rescue efforts. The owner of this place is a very nasty woman and I don't know why. She was very unpleasant to me more than once and I never said anything that would have warranted it. I just wanted to get my beautiful poodle groomed. They are also the most expensive dog groomers in New Orleans. I stopped going there awhile ago but felt compelled to give this review. read more

I had taken our two dogs there for several years. It was expensive, but they usually did a good job. The last time they called and asked if they could shave the mats off my long haired dog's legs said yes. When I went to get her, she had been completely shaved from head to toe and looked horrible. One big problem with Zeus''s place, is that you pay before they bring the dog out. I would not have paid for this haircut if I had seen her first. When I called to express my dissatisfaction, I was told I had agreed to shaving the whole dog. I definitely had not. There was no apology and no effort to make things right. We took our puppy here for her first grooming and we're so disappointed in how it turned out. They stated she had a little bit of matting from her harness so they would need to cut her hair down. when we picked her up they had fully shaved her. No one reached out to us about this before it happened and they made us pay before we got her back. Not only that but the small amount of hair they did leave was cut uneven and they didn't take the care to clean up her face. I am so disappointed we were not warmed before sending her there - so here is the warning for anyone else thinking about going here. Not sure how the owner/director is with non-human animals but she is really bad at dealing with humans! She allowed one of her employees or former employees to use her organization's vehicle that is only legally allowed to be used for business use/needs, to move their things (I'm sure the IRS will find that interesting!) and then when those individuals almost ran over an innocent pedestrian and injured them, (thankfully they were not walking their dog/s or had children in a stroller or this would have been much MUCH worse!) her employees were rude, dismissive, and then just hung up! The former employees contacted the individual, apologized to their credit, but it was obvious that they were also "thrown under the bus" by the owner/director and then she tossed blame away from herself AND made it seem like she shouldn't really have to deal with it as she was "out sick with Covid" and so not working! The ONLY reason that she even made contact with the injured individual was because they were able to track down her cellphone and send messages directly to her after being ignored! And then she STILL didn't follow through with anything after! The fact of the matter is that SHE is the owner/director AND it IS her organization's vehicle AND her responsibility legally, morally, and ethically to step up and take responsibility for the incident even IF she didn't cause it or it happened with her current employees! She has shown EXACTLY why she has NO business heading up ANY business or organization! Especially one that deals with innocent animals and gets to do so tax free! Nobody should patronize such a person or their businesses/orginzations! read more

ZP is the only place that can properly groom my rather difficult dog, Stevie. I live in Washington, DC, and unfortunately, every place I have tried there has charged me extra - due to Stevie being unruly - and they barely touch his face/paws (his sensitive areas). We are out-of-towners who needed last minute care for our two pups who didn't want to stay in the hotel room. The staff were so accommodating for this last minute need for both daycare and overnight boarding. They let us bring our own beds, toys, food, treats, etc. They took diligent notes about walking, feeding, and special accommodations. I loved that we could watch them on the live feed. I have a friend who was in the adoption process of a cute black puppy. My friend has been struggling with alcohol use and was unable to care for the animal. My friend called me and asked if I could help him decide on what to do with the puppy. We concluded that the best thing to do was to return him to Zeus' Place. We arrived at the facility. There were 2 employees outside. One employee was behind the fence nearest the door talking to a family. The other outside of the fence. The employee outside of the fence walked by with no greeting. I asked if we could just walk in. I had never been there before. The employee behind the fence walked over to us and asked what we needed. I said to her that my friend needed to return the dog. She was extremely rude. She opened the gate and asked my friend if the veterinarian said that it was ok to walk the puppy (he was on a leash). My friend said "yes". She said "I don't think he did " slammed the gate and walked away leaving us standing there with confused and humiliated looks on our faces My friend is going through a difficult time and returning the puppy was not easy. That employee (young woman) made it worse. I hope Zeus' place can be more professional and courteous to others than they were to us. I will avoid this establishment moving forward and you should too. My dog is a frequent visitor to this place and he tells me he loves it! He has stayed for day care and overnight. They have cameras in their facilities so you can keep an eye on your pup while they are playing - which is something I love to do (stalker level 1000). The facilities are very clean and the staff is very friendly. If you are keeping your dog overnight, they will keep track of your dogs' bed, food and toys. I usually try not to send him with anything and he gets enough play time in the play pen with the other dogs. One of my favorite parts is that in the entry way, there is a wall full of kittens! I love playing with them while they bring out my pup. I wish I was a cat person - but i like dogs MUCH better. I have also gotten Mr. Roger bathed here. They did a great job on cleaning his nails and his ears. They did a de-shedding treatment on him, this was ok. He has a lot of fur (he is a Belgian Malinois mix)... he is still shedding but they did their best I am sure. read more

I have held off with posting a review for Zeus' Place because I wanted to give them a chance as a local business. We brought in a rescue to them this summer for a summer cut, and I gave the groomer instructions on how to groom around his ears. Our rescue is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and I felt I had explained that I wanted his head to look like a Wheaten. When I picked him up, he looked like a labradoodle! Now I didn't say anything because I was not completely sure I had truly explained what I really wanted. fast forward to our recent grooming experience-- I was told I could bring in pictures of what we wanted. So, I printed out a few pictures of Wheatens and when I spoke with the groomer she even confirmed with me that I wanted the Wheaten look. When I picked up our baby, his head looked more like a Schnauzer than a Weaten. And, his face was not cut evenly so he looks lopsided. And, when I picked him up, the lady who was at the front desk seemed to not even care I was a customer, I felt like I was inconvenienceing her. And as someone who has worked in customer service for 16 years I was surprised. I am well aware that our dog is not a breed that is common here in New Orleans but I have since found another groomer who has groomed terriers and will be giving them a try next. I feel that maybe the groomer at Zeus's place was not truly adept at grooming Wheatens and if that was the case, she should have said something and then referred me to someone who could provide the service I am looking for I would like to have written a great review for this local business, but after two poor experiences, I just can't do it. read more

We love Zeus' place and frequently trust them to care for our dogs. Both of our dogs always seem really excited when we drop them off for over night boarding. We watch the cameras and they are always attentive to them. We have called them last minute for when an unscheduled need arises and they have worked out space to accept them sometimes even same day. The staff is very caring and it's clear that they genuinely care about what they're doing. We had a nightmare trying another place closer to our home. We were literally already out of town when the place called to have us immediately pick up our dog because they "had not noticed" our male dog wasn't fixed. Zeus' place heard what happened they literally came to our rescue and accepted our dogs last minute on a holiday weekend so we did not have to cancel our entire vacation read more

I have never boarded my dog here so I can't speak to that, but I did get my dog groomed at Zeus'. I really wanted to support this company because I know Michelle started this grooming/boarding business in order to help finance the animals she was always rescuing. They always have animals for adoption in the front. I think it's a great business model and the people who work there seem very nice. However, I wasn't very satisfied with the way my dog looked after her haircut. We have a Corgi with a fluffy coat, and we told them that we wanted to trim her down since it's so hot in the summer. However, they gave her a full buzz cut instead of a trim. UPDATE: Thanks to the Internet, my faith is restored in Zeus' place! The owner, Michelle, saw my review and called me! She was very apologetic and seemed genuinely concerned that I was not satisfied with my service. She offered to give my dog a free bath which I recently took her up on. Sunny looked adorably fluffy after her bath, and seemed to have had a good day. They trimmed her nails and also cleaned up the fuzz that manages to protrude between her toes. She was in good spirits when I took her home, and is now happily snoozing. FOLLOW-UP-DATE: I'm going to admit that this is my fault. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice...I'm an idiot. The last time we took our Corgi in here for a summer clip, my fiance spoke to both the owner and the groomer and was very clear about what we wanted: "Just a trim." What did they do? Buzzed my poor dog like she was ready to enlist in the Marines. Forget this place, they're not getting any more of my money. read more

I love taking my dogs here! They spoil and pamper my dogs to the point where they don't even want to come home when I pick them up after their spa days! The groomers are very involved and make sure of what exactly you want for your pets before they groom them. Check in is around 8-9am weekdays only, for grooming. They let your pets play in the back yard area, which is fenced in so it is safe. After they finish grooming, usually around noon, they'll give you a call to let you know and you can pick them up any time before 5 or 6pm. I never have to worry if I can't pick my dogs up right away because I know they're in great hands! I have three small dogs, 1 pomeranian and 2 yorkie mixes, and each costs $40 without tip to get grommed. read more

Boarding here may work for you if you're ok with watching your dog sit in the kennel the ENTIRE time you are away. I'm not. I was told that she would enjoy time playing in the yard and would interact with other dogs. Instead, she was let out only briefly to the yard a couple of times a day then right back to the kennel. I've heard such good things about this place but I was so disappointed by everything that I had a friend pick her up to watch her for the rest of our trip. It's hard to have fun on vacation while watching video feed of your companion lying on concrete because the time between them leaving in the evening and when they return in the morning is so long that she soiled her bedding (as did a lot of the other dogs.) I will say it is very affordable here! Just forgo any sort of peace of mind. (ps- they did not return her bedding to us.) read more

My dogs are always happy boarding here and the prices are better than other Uptown options. I like that this is a smaller business than other dog boarding places. I feel like people are actually watching out for my dogs rather than being in a huge dog boarding warehouse. The only downside of the smaller size is that you have to remember to reserve early since they fill up fast. Great place with sweet staff that helped me feel secure boarding my younger dog for the first time. Update: I came across a dog in a nearby neighborhood that had clearly escaped its yard and was wandering. A neighbor and I managed to get it by the collar and the only tag was from Zeus's Place (apparently one of their rescue dogs). Not knowing what else to do, I called the number. The owner from Zeus's Place was there in minutes to pick up the dog and promised to get it safely back home to its owner. She clearly goes above and beyond for her rescues. I was very impressed by her commitment. I saw the complaints other people posted here and was very surprised by them. Our dogs have boarded here numerous times and they've always returned happy and healthy. read more

IQ has been stressed because of travel (we are driving from Florida to California) but the staff at Zeus' were so kind and understanding. They let us leave treats and catnip so he was calm for the stay. Their rates are also very reasonable and their facility is clean and well maintained. Zeus' Place is a great local business in New Orleans. They have many webcams so you can watch your dogs online. We lucked out as we brought our dogs in without a reservation on a Saturday morning. Luckily, there was room, and the staff was not put off by our lack of planning. We had our dogs' shot records faxed over and everything was good to go. When we picked up our dogs on Sunday afternoon, they napped for the rest of the evening...evidence that they were well exercised during their stay. I used their downtown location to get my two dogs groomed about a week and half ago, I was pleased with the service at first, but then my dogs started coughing up phlegm. I immediately called Zeus' to ask if any other dogs were sick there, they assured me that my dogs were not in contact with others and there was no way they could have gotten sick from their facility. A few hundred dollars in emergency vet bills later confirmed kennel cough. My dogs do not socialize with other dogs due to behavior issues, the only time they are exposed to other animals is their annual vet visits and this instance of getting groomed. So long story short I spent $165 to get clean but sick dogs and another $250ish to get them healthy. The most upsetting part is the categorical denial from this company, it makes me question their integrity and ethics. What else are they dishonest about and how many other precious pets have suffered? read more

Wish I could write a glowing review - but our pup developed a small infection next to her eye where the groomer must have nicked her. Hey - a minor mistake that I can understand (it happens) but they should have been more forthcoming if/when it happens. It was never mentioned to us. Ultimately, we ended up at the vet and they dyed her cornea to check for damage, none, and concluded it was likely a groomer-inflicted wound where they just got too close, perhaps an unsterile tool, who knows? I guess it is making a slight assumption that it was groomer inflicted - but first time in 2 years, ever, and it certainly appears as though it was a tool-inflicted wound. For me, that's sloppy and all they needed to do was tell us - before we stacked up a hefty vet bill. read more

RE: Longterm Boarding PROs: Probably the cheapest rates in town. Web-cam. CONs: I dropped my two dogs (male lab, femal mut) and flew out to Canada for a week long snowboarding vacation. On the first & second days, my wife kept checking the webcams about every hour while we were in the condo. She noticed the dogs not being taken out nor allowed to play with the daycare dogs. I called and told them that the webcam was not showing our dogs being let out as we were under the impression they would. Later on the second day, the webcam was out and did not come back on until the day we left. No other webcam was turned off. Needless to say, when we picked up our dogs, we were handed back there doggy beds and to our suprise, the beds were saturated in urine. I mean like super saturated. I was in shock and did not know what to say. I had pre-paid in cash too. All I can do is write this review to warn all future borders, beware! I DO NOT recommend boarding your dogs at this place for longer than a few days. Oh yeah, our dogs personallities were crazy for the next few days. read more

I've adopted from here before, a special needs kitten. Who I love so much. So when it came time to adopt a puppy to the family I checked with them and fell in love with a pit/lab girl. I took her home for my home visit and bonded instantly... Only to wake up the following day to have my puppy taken from me because the office promised the pup to another owner. :( I can't even articulate how heartbroken this makes me... The low price and promise of a run was tempting, but when I picked up my dog, he too smelled heavily of cleaners and panted heavily, appearing ill until I gave him a bath. Zeus Place is a great neighborhood dog kennel. The staff really loves animals and it shows from the time you drop off your pet until pick up. When I first moved to the city I had to put my over-sized black lab in a kennel for two weeks until I moved into a more permanent residence. I was heartbroken to have to put him up for that amount of time, but the wonderful and caring staff helped me get through this rough patch. They have web cams so I could check in on Tycho whenever I was feeling a little down, they let him keep his toys so that he would be more comfortable, and they let me stop by to walk and visit with him when I needed to just say hi. Their rates are very reasonable for the services they provide. I plan on using them again in the future, but hopefully not for the extended stay that my dog had before. read more

My fiancé and I dropped off our Golden Doodle puppy for two days over this past Mardi Gras (2016). We were pleased to find a place that offered a web camera to see her while we were away, but they moved her to another room that did not have one. We called both days to see how she was handling everything. We were told she was loving it and was playing with the other dogs. Since we could not see her, we have no idea if she was ever let out. We both suspect she was never let out or if she was, it probably did not last long, because when we picked her up, she was crazy high energized, not like her at all. We had them do a sensitive area groom, which they totally botched. We had to take her to the vet (Thank you MSAH), in which they said she was traumatized and she was sitting in her own urine, because it was CAKED in her fur. We have never boarded our "kids" before. Our neighbor recommended Zeus's because they had super experiences there. OMG where do I start. Super friendly...they all love the animals...the animals love them... our 2 boys and little girl were pooped every time we checked the web cam. I will never go anywhere else. Anytime I called they would tell me what kind of day they had. I like them so much, I am donating some cheap fleece blankets. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable.
