Worst phone etiquette I've ever experienced. website offers items that no longer exist and is completely misleading.

Nuts Outdoors - Electric bike rental outside of Casper Bluff and near the Galena River bike trail.

Nuts Outdoors

Whenever we are in Galena, and the weather is nice, we like to kayak through Nuts Outdoors. It is…read morealways convenient, affordable, and an absolute blast! Also, it is one of the best ways to take-in the sights and beauty of Galena and the surrounding area! There are several options to chose from, including different lengths of time to rent, different styles and sizes of kayaks, and different routes. Not to mention the other equipment for outdoor adventures. There bike selection is outstanding! That being said, we always do the same thing: the 2-hour 9-11am single kayak trip. We also purchase the deal that starts right downtown Galena just down the street from Nuts Outdoors where the bridge crosses the Galena River. We love the convenience and the super-quick turnaround from store-front to water. Once you check-in at the store, you can walk or drive down to the dock, and the store worker meets you there with the boat, oars, and life-jacket (safety first)! There the staff person helps you into the boat and into the water. Just as a side note, the staff are always super friendly, helpful, and clearly experts. You are definitely in good hands. During our two hours, we paddle pretty consistently upstream for about an hour. We love the gorgeous views of the river banks, trees, and surrounding hills. We were SO LUCKY with the warm end-of-October weather last weekend that we were able to kayak and enjoy the fantastic fall colors! Wow! After the first hour, we like to kick-back, relax, have a drink, and float. We still need to paddle a little bit to make it back on time, but it is definitely relaxing. And so fun to take in the sights, sounds, and smells. Some highlights this time included blue jays, a whole bunch of cardinals, and the wind rustling the fall leaves. We've seen muskrats, large birds, and deer in the past! All this to say, if you're heading over to Galena and like outdoor adventures, don't miss out on a kayaking (or biking!) adventure with Nuts Outdoors!

Absolutely unacceptable experience at Nuts Outdoors…read more Our group rented E-bikes from Nuts Outdoors and were shocked by the complete disregard for participant safety. Staff made no effort to ensure bikes were the correct size for riders, and none of the seats were adjusted to proper height. Now I'm a reasonable person and I'm not expecting these guys to give each member of our group a professional bike fitting measuring knee lockout angles and such, but making sure they can reach the ground when stopping and are comfortable on a 50-60lb bike isn't asking for much. These are pretty basic safety measures you'd expect from any reputable rental service. Even worse, the brakes were wildly inconsistent: some bikes had hyper-sensitive brakes, while others had virtually none at all. It was a disaster waiting to happen. While I understand that, yes, we did sign liability waivers before participating. It should be noted that regardless of the liability waivers. It did not seem as though the staff had any interest in the ensuring the safety of the equipment being used by their patrons, which is completely unacceptable regardless of any waiver. One of our participants suffered a serious injury--a broken ankle--due to these unsafe conditions. When we contacted the business to request a refund for those of us who had to take a ride to the hospital and end the ride after about 30 minutes, we were met with hostility. The person on the phone berated us, used excessive profanity, and showed zero empathy or professionalism. Avoid this place at all costs. Safety and customer service are clearly not part of their business model.

I wish there was a sixth star available…read more Ok, it wasn't a big deal, a broken brake cable and a tune up on a kid's bike. A cheap kid's bike. First, they were very clear on what might be needed, what it could cost. Second, they always communicated fully, clearly and attentively. Third, they NEVER tried to sell me a bike. And last, they finished the service a day earlier than promised and $3.00 under the estimate. If anyone is looking for an example of how to run a small retail shop, these guys have it down. I never thought I'd shop for a bike here and now I definitely would and highly recommend this place to anyone!

That's lying.then said we don't sell those Chinese parts , that's racist and incorrect. all this terrible interaction was to hide the brand loyalty they're bound to. i am afraid of sabotage as a tool to drive me away. instead of just outright refusing service because my bike is the wrong brand. I went and got some facts for you. Why That Statement Doesn't Hold Up If that shop truly refuses to stock any components made in China, they're likely contradicting themselves without realizing it. Here's why: · Tier 1 Components: Even flagship groupsets from Shimano (Japan) and SRAM (USA)--the two dominant players--have significant manufacturing, casting, and assembly operations in China, Taiwan, and other parts of Asia. A "Shimano" bike isn't a "Japanese" bike; it's a globally sourced product. · Frames & Finishing: The vast majority of aluminum and carbon fiber frames sold worldwide--regardless of the brand name on the down tube (Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, etc.)--are manufactured in Taiwan or China by OEM giants like Giant or Merida. · Wheels & Finishing Kits: Items like stems, handlebars, seat posts, and even high-end carbon wheelsets often come from specialized Asian manufacturers, even if they're branded with a Western company's logo. However, the blanket statement "we don't carry Chinese parts" is a massive oversimplification. If they are selling any modern bike with Shimano, SRAM, or a branded aluminum/carbon frame, they are selling Asian-made parts. A Quick Reality Check for the Shop Component Likely Origin Shimano Drivetrain Japan (design), China or Malaysia (manufacturing) SRAM Drivetrain USA (design), Taiwan or China (manufacturing) Aluminum Frame Taiwan, China, or Vietnam Carbon Frame Taiwan or China High-End Wheels USA/Europe (assembly), but rims/hubs often from Taiwan Overwhelming Share: An estimated 87% to 94% of bicycles and their components in the United States rely on supply from China alone . · Industry Reality: This high level of dependence means that almost all bikes sold in the U.S. are either manufactured in China or assembled there from Chinese-made parts . · The Cost Factor: For some U.S. manufacturers, components sourced from China represent as much as 90% of their total parts cost .

The shop is on the small side, but the selection is great, better than some larger shops, who seem to focus more on clothes, shoes, and accessories, rather than actual bike parts. On another note, I find their prices to be consistently very good. I used to always go to Budget, but I find the prices at Trail This to be consistently lower. Haven't bought a new bike here, but they do have a good selection. I mostly buy parts and tools, and I can definitely say this is one of the best places in town for the home mechanic to get parts and tools. As a plus, this feels like a shop that will actually help you out with your own problems you might be having. Many other bike mechanics can make you feel like an idiot if you don't happen to know as much about bikes as they do (and not many people do, as being a bike mechanic is what they do for a living...). Not the case here, very willing to help out, and always have a good and helpful attitude. This is my new stop for everything I need. Located just off the bike path is very convenient as well.
