Since 1981 The Big Apple Shopping Bazaar has been selling wares in a 34,030 square foot indoor flea market in Delray Ray that transports you to New York City. Previously called the Delray Flea Market, the inside is set up like the Big Apple with streetlights, iconic buildings, brick walkways, King Kong and even pigeons. There is room for 65 boutiques under one roof. The clientele here tends to skew older owing to the nearby Kings Point retirement community. I came to the Big Apple Shopping Bazaar because once a month they have an outdoor flea market called Junk in the Trunk. You can shop interesting vendors outside where they also had a food truck and then go inside to see the other businesses which include cosmetics, eyewear, clothing, shoes, a deli and cafe, accessories, art, wigs, beauty supplies, furniture, novelties, household goods, salon, barber shop, and jewelry. It is definitely a throwback experience. About a third of the market is currently empty but I still had fun walking around in this recreated city. It January of this year it was reported that the owner of the flea market, West Atlantic Commercial Properties which is managed by Laura K. and Anthony V. Pugliese in Delray Beach wants to redevelop this 4.53 acre site into self-storage, a gas station and a car wash. That is kind of sad because we have more than enough of all those things. Flea markets have been struggling in recent years while trying to compete against e-commerce. Compared to other flea markets I have been to Big Apple has a lot personality so come out and see it while you can. read more

I've been here before but it's been a long time. So was surprised not to see a review. There are not many stores or booths filled like it was in years past. And the parking lot out front was quite empty. I wasn't here to browse or look around, so that was okay. I came specifically to look at the discount cosmetics booth -- which is still here albeit in a smaller spot. And it's still near the entrance door. I'm not even sure it's the same people as it's been too long. They didn't have exactly what I wanted. And their house line was more money than I was willing to pay. I was looking for a "cheap and cheerful" item to use temporarily and didn't want to spend money when I knew it was only to tide me over until I could get what I really needed and wanted. But they do have a lot of stock on hand -- so you might luck out. At least now I'm not wondering whether I should have stopped here. Will have to try another place -- may be Festival in Pompano or a beauty supply store? read more

I hate to say it but it has really gone downhill. When I came here years ago, it was a nice place. There were lots of cool stores. And it was fun to haggle as well. There still are some decent stores there but it has changed. The place has a gloomy feel these days. Neither the staff nor the customers are very friendly. The quality of some of the products is down. They have a lot of costume jewelry here but some of the places are not as open to haggling as they once were and the product quality is also down or it was when I visited.. So I did buy a piece of jewelry here that was talked up and SEEMED to be of high quality. I paid more than I would have liked. It broke the next day. So you know where I am going with this. I have to say there are so many places to shop in this area of Florida. This place was nice but these days I doubt I will be going back. read more

I'm lucky I didn't walk away with fleas. Just kidding...it wasn't THAT bad. This shopping center was pretty sad though. It was rundown with many empty booths. I went in to find La Plume shoes, which they did have. They didn't have my size but the vendor offered to ship them for us. Not really the flea market pricing I was hoping for though. There were tons of silver shops, beauty products, bedding, cabinet stores and watch stores. Unless you have a specific product or type of store in mind, best to do your shopping and browsing elsewhere. read more

Very poor - it looks that don't have new stuff - lots of jewelry - gun shop -if you are into that very well camouflage - only one place to eat - never seen anyone there - they are always remodeling? Not quite like Festival Flea market, however several businesses have sustained a booth in this shopping center. The most interesting was the Mah Jong shop with lots of related items. There was also a picture shop where you can find many styles of frames pictures for your home. Overall, not enough interesting shops to drive me to return even though it is close to me. Probably more promotions would drive more shoppers and vendors here. read more

The big apple flea market actually is a lot of fun. I think what sets it apart from a lot of other retail in the area or the merchants themselves. They are very friendly bunch, almost carefree. Lots of Niche stores, they've got a food court and there's always something going on. For instance they have classic car shows, fundraising activities, most of which are aimed at seniors. WARNING WARNING!!!! Do not rent a space from these people!! The place as little to no foot traffic and management doesn't care about vendors making money. They do absolutely no advertising! They are reselling counters and cases that other vendors left behind to try and make money. They've sold the place now and they are still renting spaces talking about build your business. I bought an item at one of the shops and returned it the next day because i didnt think so much of it later on. I went to return it to get my cash back and was denied this. I went to the owner of the market and was just as rude and would not give me my money back either. I would recommend to stay far away from here and go to the flea market off of sample rd and the turnpike. The shop was JD Sunglasses. The man also threatened to want to take this outside and fight me. Stay away from this place at all costs. read more

The manager Britney is very poor at customer service. Online said they had a tv but did not have. And Britney the manager would not address that the stir had made a mistake. It took her 45 minutes to come downstairs to talk about it. Basically false advertisement. read more

A trip to Florida has always meant a trip to the Flea Market. We used to go to one in Lake Worth, but it closed down. So, now we come here. There is one really nice Jewelry stand here that sells all sorts of stones and they will custom make things for you. Also, a few different places sell discounted perfume. Pretty much everything else isn't really stuff you buy while on vacation. At least I don't go on vacation to buy packages of socks :) But, it's fun to walk around and see all the random stuff being sold. Plus, this flea market has slot machines and a food court! read more

First the owner did not keep his word about holding the order until new home was ready, then recliner did not work properly and had insufficient support. Complaints resulted in request for $ for a warrant repair 5 months old and then a no show on appointment. read more

This flea market used to be more relevant but more vendors cater to the nearby retirement communities so the rest of us have less reason to visit. Even with that the merchant who sells belts has the best quality at the best prices in 3 counties. Not all the belts are exceptional (she sells to cheapskates too) but she has some full grain belts for $20. I will only buy from her. Also the jewelry repair shop works on gold while we wait. Who does that anymore? There are some shops that sell excellent sun hats. One of the vendors sells cologne in a tester size that contains 15% more perfume than the commercial sizes. I wouldn't touch any of the the food with a 10 foot pole and the jewelry prices are much too high in most of the shops. The jewelry exchanges are a much better buy than Carnival. So if you know what you're doing this is a useful group of vendors. If not, well Carnival isn't your problem. read more
