I thought the mall closed & I was surprised to see so many cars parked. I was equally surprised to see Dillards & JC Penny are still opened here. The mall was clean & very quiet. I have gotten items at the Dillards Outlet Store entering directly from the back of the lot. Victoria's Secret, a Hallmark store, bridal shop, comfort, shoes, and some Jewelers are here. I grew up coming to this mall. The nostalgia I feel when being here definitely made me see this visit with rose colored glasses. There's not much here anymore. The typical shops and anchor stores still remain. The kids play place is still there, and the carousel I rode on as a child. It's no longer operating, but it was nice to see tucked away in the back of the mall in a corner that seems untouched by time. The shops that were open were warm and inviting. I was in Boynton Beach and decided to check out this mall. The Boynton Beach Mall is an enclosed shopping mall with tenants that include Macy's, Dillard's Clearance Center, JCPenney, Christ Fellowship, Cinemark, and about many other specialty stores and eateries. The mall itself looked a bit tired but I have heard, they plan to revamp the mall. The proposed plan would include: 1,420 multifamily units. 400 hotel rooms. 629,000 square feet retail. ... 65,000 square feet of general offices. 65,000 square feet of medical offices. A 20,000-square-foot fitness center. 10,000 square feet of fast food restaurants. Hope this becomes a reality and brings back this shopping area, which is in a prime location. read more

I recently decided to take the kids here for a quick walk around. All I can say is, wow, this mall is pretty sad. We usually go to the Town Center Mall in Boca which is actually a pretty great mall. It's got a lot of interesting shops, a very respectable food court and it always has a great amount of foot traffic. The Boynton Beach Mall on the other hand is like a ghost town. Upon entering, the first thing that struck me was the eerie silence and emptiness. It looked like they were three or four people in the entire mall. Numerous stores had closed down, leaving behind a sad trail of empty spaces. The remaining shops, to put it kindly, were more like B-league players rather than star attractions. It was clear that this mall had seen better days. The food court was also unimpressive and dated. They do have a Taco Bell and a Popeye's amongst other restaurants, but there wasn't a single person eating anywhere. Even though we were a little hungry, the overall vibe made us not want to sit and eat there. The lackluster ambiance in the food court and everywhere frankly was exacerbated by the dim lighting which cast a gloomy pallor over everything, quite the contrast to the Town Center Mall which is bright, light and airy. It was hard to shake the feeling of malaise that permeated the air and we all kind of felt that we wanted to leave shorty after arriving. To add to the already bleak atmosphere, there were quite a few odd characters hanging outside the entrances we used. I don't know what they were up to, but they definitely didn't seem like they were mall patrons. It was an unfortunate sight, but kind of made sense in the context of this crappy place. It also further cemented my decision to steer clear of this mall in the future. In conclusion, I cannot recommend the Boynton Beach Mall. With its empty storefronts, lackluster shops, and a food court that could use a serious makeover, it left much to be desired. Perhaps the only silver lining is that I can now use this mall as a deterrent if my kids misbehave. One day soon they're going to hear "Knock it off or else I'm gonna take you to the Boynton Beach Mall"...And it will probably be pretty effective! read more

Sadly, this mall is having a hard time.... Retail has taken a hit from Covid and a number of store closings this year. Even before, however, this mall had been losing stores and visitors. We came a couple years back for a special event in their food court and once more people are out and about -- especially in this older residence demographic area -- they could come back if they get creative. It would be a perfect mall for outlets and discount stores to band together. Speaking of outlets, we came here to visit the Dillards Clearance Center in my search for a new flannel nightgown. You can tell by the parking lot, that this area of the mall is one of the bigger draws. The thing is they have a separate entrance from the parking lot -- so we didn't even venture into the rest of the mall to see what is still there. So, I'm hoping they can reinvent themselves some time in the future. It can happen (the Pompano Mall was dead before it was bought out and redesigned as the Pompano Citi Center). read more

Unfortunately malls like this are closing or being revamped at great speed. For some this was a great visit for weekends and hanging out with friends, but our age is showing like this mall. We noted three larger stores, and appeared one is a Clearance (Dillards) center that is close to closing. You have to wonder if JcPenneys and Macys will stay until mall closes. You will find several unique stores that carry items that are not so easily found at 100 locations. One part of the mall is dark, almost closed, and has no retailers showing just how quickly it's past its prime. Even the food court is short in choices with Popeyes being the star, or perhaps that Taco Bell Kiosk. No fresh popcorn, but they have a vending machine. We did find Boba Tea for teens and they loved it. Nothing bad here to note ... just a time long gone in which likely we will find luxury apartments or other real estate taking over the large space. To bad it wasn't redesigned as an outside type outlet like Pompano and Coconut Creek. Wonder if theatre will remain ?? Those days of seeing movies and having fresh popcorn seem to be gone to streaming and other venues. read more

The Boynton Beach Mall opened in October 1985. Retail big wigs Burdines, JC Penney, Jordan Marsh and Lord & Taylor drew people in. As they faded out Macy's, Mervyn's, and Sears would go on to open anchor stores. Fast forward a few decades and the American mall is dying. In 30 years only minor repairs have been done to the mall. In the past few years, the Disney store, Dairy Queen, Mrs. Fields, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Bucca Di Beppo, Toojay's, Littman's Jewelers, and Sears, have all closed or relocated. In 2014 Christ Fellowship moved in. Higher income areas like Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington and Boca are attracting the shoppers away from Boynton Beach. Outlet malls like Palm Beach Outlets and Sawgrass Mills Mall are popular with shoppers looking to save money. I normally prefer to shop online but my daughter needed some back to school clothes so we headed out to her favorite store Hot Topic. I usually hate shopping there but the staff was friendly and the store was neat and organized. We ended up having a pleasant shopping experience. What is the future of the Boynton Beach mall? With 18 empty stores in 2018 they need to figure it out quickly. Trends have shown that shoppers gravitate towards a shopping destination. They want entertainment, stores, and food in one area. Right now some people are wary of visiting the Boynton Beach Mall because they don't feel it is safe. Future plans could see the mall evolve into a multi purpose building with offices, restaurants and retailers. The Boynton Beach Mall is anchored by a few large department stores whose other locations have been slowly narrowing: JCPenney, Sears, Macy's. It features affordable stores and is unpretentious, unlike it's nearest counterparts to the North and West (the Gardens Mall and the Wellington Mall). You can clearance shop while still being in a mall feel. This particular Macy's location has an exclusive outlet store called, "Macy's Backstage." It also features a Dillard's Clearance Center, where treasures await if you can dig to find them. The Boynton Beach Mall still shows its roots; it's keeping the 80s alive for future filmmakers everywhere. Instead of being torn down like the Palm Beach Mall, the Boynton Beach Mall has tried to re-invent itself; a brand-new Cinemark was added in the last 10 years or so. I have to admit that I don't venture far into the inner workings of any mall if I can help it, so I mostly just stick to darting into one of the big box stores when I need to. Today I came up for the Specialty Food Hall. This was a great attraction to what I would call a "B" mall. All of the basic mall stores are here which will meet most of my shopping needs. I did see a few empty storefronts and it was not as new and "shiny" as others but functional. I hope I don't sound like a snob but I understand why they would hold events... it is a great way to bring in new customers. Lastly, there was plenty of parking which is a plus in my book. If you know the area and you know the mall then you know what you're going to get. Not the greatest mall around, actually the only mall around. Place feels more like a flea market, with some of the vendors having fold-out tables and cloths over them. Some of the stores are only available at this mall unless you drive to Boca or Wellington. So if you want, let's say a Victoria secret, this is where you can. It's a bit ghetto though. From the parking lot all the way in. I probably wouldn't come here after dark. This mall has become a total ghost town. I remember when it was busy packed with people. Now, it is just an empty mall that only houses employees working that the stores. This mall is empty all the time. I have found some great deals, sales and clearance items at some of the stores here. But, when my favorite Brazilian Bikini Store left this mall... my heart sank as well. Bottom line: you can find great deals here, parking is a breeze because the mall is empty all the time, and you can shop in-noticed. read more

I remember in middle school this mall was the place to hangout. Somehow I was entertained week after week and always coming home with a bag of stuff. Now when I come back and visit, it's just a momentary distraction while I await a movie to start next door. This might be a teens paradise. Every store seems to cater to items in Seventeen magazine but everything else is lacking. The few boutiques offer ratchet club-wear that involves some form of pleather or spandex. Victoria Secret no longer sexy - now it's bubblegum pink and purple with a lot of writing on the butt of underwear and highlighter color pushup bras. Macy, Dillards, Express, New York & Company, Aldo and a handful of other stores provide some maturity. But it has developed in the area for younger children with the train that goes through the mall and the play pen area filled with screaming kids and depressed parents. I was extremely thankful for that area one trip when I deciding to take both my niece and nephew to the mall after giving them ice cream cones and sugar pretzels. That's what aunt's due. Clean bathrooms and decent service from most employees but this place just feels like it will die out. A few nail and hair salons scattered about but still an old - and young feeling mall. A weird Peter Pan vibe like it not letting this place develop and grow. Even for a weekend close to the holidays it still remained emptier then I would image. It's okay. read more

What makes today's visit to this mall is the Food Court Event Inside the mall that we first read about last week and again this week in the Sunsentinel and Julie forwarded me a reminder from the New Times. So, it's noon time, lunch time and we are ready to explore! We Wales around inside to check out the vendors. A sample of the Shrimp and Grits from the Purple Shrimp peaked our interests. We walked around to see other offerings and since we both enjoy Cajun fare, we returned to The Purple Shrimp. Only one Grouper left they offered to cook some fresh and for us. While waiting for the fried grouper and cheese grits we were given a sample of their MEAT filled Gumbo to sample. We also tried their Bourbon Bread pudding. I'm not normally a fan of Bread Pudding, but have to admit this was quite good. After we both finished our fried Grouper and Grits dishes I asked where #The Purple Shrimp might be found next. The proprietor gave me one of their cards advising that they are no longer at the 11th Street location downtown WPB, but are regulars at the # Green Market of Clematis Street in downtown WPB. Julie and I will be seeking them out again for a chance to try their: Gumbo, Shrimp 'n Grits Po' Boys and more of that Brown Butter Bourbon Bread Puddin'. Walking into Boynton Beach Mall (BBM) is like walking into a time warp and being sent back to 1989. That's not a good thing. With all the different places on Congress to do your shopping for all things clothes, jewelry, electronics, and more, let alone online juggernauts like Amazon.com, you would think BBM would try to offer an outlet that provides for all of the above. Unfortunately, it does not. It doesn't help that the mall has a creepy vibe where you wonder whether you're going to be abducted. It's like the dark side of the movie, Mallrats. The interior is grossly outdated. It feels at times as if you're walking through an abandoned mall where a family of cannibalistic serial killers hides in one of the available retail spaces before you get to Sears, ready to kill and eat you... or the cult that could be lurking behind the coffee house. Granted, I don't feel like I'm going to get mugged, but I also don't feel like this is the place I want to hang out at either. There's something unsettling about this mall where you just want to go for what you came to get and leave. Growing up, when you went to the mall, it was a fun place to go. Not here. It doesn't help that there are several retail spaces that are currently available with no sign that anything else is moving in. Anytime I've entered the mall through JC Penney's, it's hard not to notice that Dillard's is always closed - at least it seems that way. While there are a couple of pros to going to BBM - FYE, Spencer's and Tate's to name three (why this doesn't get a one star)... Ok, and Popeyes is also there, this is vastly outnumbered by the cons. I really like this mall. The size of it is just right to me, it's a mid size only one floor. Some of the bigger malls I get lost in ..lol The flagship stores do have a second floor. This mall has just about everything you need. You can get anything from shoes to a workout. The flagship stores are sears,jcpenny and macys. The is also alot of smaller stores like h&m , hot topic,foot locker,hallmark just to name a few. The food court is a nice size and the staff keeps it very clean. They have popeyes , subway , kelly's cajun grill to name a few. There is also a too jay's that is away from the food court. The movies is in a separate building in the front of the mall. That building in newer they built about 5 year ago. The sears tire center is also in a separate building. I'm sure you can guess this part but, I will tell you anyway. The boynton beach mall is pretty decent. I like this mall but then I don't love this mall. The stores are few, the inventory is less compared to volume stores. If you are in a mission and trying to get one or two things you might be in luck. However, I don't think you can spend more than a few hours (30 min-2 hours) in this mall. Things I do like about this mall: * it's convenient from where I live, * they have my eyebrow threading place I go to which is a store front * they have a huge coffee shop in the middle of the mall (not Starbucks) * movie theater across from the mall (cinemark) * A few departmental stores and small local business stores etc. Overall it's a good neighborhood mall but I wouldn't drive out of my way to come shopping. read more

I probably prefer to do the window shopping at this mall more than Town Center Mall in Boca and the Wellington Green Mall in Wellington as it's small, has good select stores, and "quiet". We have Macy's, Express, NY & Co, Sephora in JCPenney (just opened earlier this year), Yankee Candle, and my favorite "hippie" store, Nativa. They used to have Chick-Fil-A in the food court but now it's been replaced by Popeye's. :( They have: Wet Seal Rue 21 Body Central American Eagle Victoria's Secret Charlotte Russo Express NY & Co Macy's JCPenney Dillard's (had 2 stores, one is completely closed down and the other is in the process of closing with deeply discounted clothing and items with no-returns policy in effect) Sears Cache Lane Bryant Nativa Bath & Body Works Sephora (inside JCPenney's) Yankee Candle Claire's Spencer's Journey's Bijou Brigette Aeropostale Disney Payless Rack Room ... that's all I can think of right now. Oh, there's a kiddie train that goes around inside the mall, so watch out for the train! :) Adults can ride, too. Security isn't much of an issue for me as I don't ever go to the mall late at night by myself and park where there are a lot of people which is usually by the food court entrance- the right side of JCPenney so you can be in view of a lot of people if anything was to happen. There are security guys who patrol the outside in the parking lots every 10-15 minutes and also some more that are on segways inside the mall. However, there are annoying guys outside of the food court entrance trying to convince you to buy windshield insurance or something like that. I always ignore them and there are even more annoying people when you enter inside trying to get you to do a survey or to sign up for online courses with an online college.... I have my bachelors- and for the 100th time, LEAVE ME ALONE. The other malls may have *more* stores ranging from Delia*s (Wellington) to Anthropologie (Boca), but I find that these malls make me overwhelmed and give me a headache! lol read more

Sort of an older style small mall anchored by a Sears, Macy's, JC Penny's and a bunch of going-out-of-business and empty storefronts, restrooms located far down a long dark hallway, lighting was out, none of the escalators went anywhere, the central court fountain was dry . . . there are about 20 kiosks doing business, a decent sized food court, several very odd but fun central kiosks for kids, but the whole place seems poised for failure and/or imminent closure. It's really run down in there and it seems like the air conditioning never works. How many malls do you know that you cannot buy a burger or a slice of pizza? That kind of says it all for this once hopping mall that is fading fast. You would think the management would at least keep the air conditioning on to a comfortable level but they do not. At the far end by the merry go round I don't think the A/C is even on. I walk this mall for exercise all the time and many of the store employees complain how warm it is. The food court is now down to salty Chinese, greasy fried chicken and some fruit drink places. They do have a Sakura and Charley's Cheesesteaks which aren't bad. A lot of food places have closed due to lack of customers. So basically you have Macys and JC Penny where they seem to have their own A/C to keep everyone comfortable. Then there are a bunch of nail and hair places to choose from. Outside of these it is sad to walk buy the other stores where you never see much traffic. It is only a matter of time before this mall becomes residential with some stores that will interest the locals. read more

This place is just in a horrible state and it gets worse by the day. The parking lot looks abandoned with just a few cars, I imagine that from the employees. Then inside every store smells like old (except for Bath and Body works). There are buckets throughout the place collecting water that filters from the roof.
